Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Shows Up on Geekbench; Tipped to Offer Better Cameras Than Galaxy S24

Samsung has not yet announced anything about its second Unpacked event for this year, but rumours around the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 point at a July launch. Amid speculations, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has allegedly appeared on the Geekbench website with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Additionally, a tipster claims that the camera configuration of the book-style foldable phone will be better than that of the Galaxy S24.

A Samsung smartphone with model number SM-F956U was spotted on the Geekbench website on May 17. The listing, speculated to be that of the US variant of Galaxy Z Fold 6 shows 6,619 points in the multicore test and 1,964 points in single-core testing.

The alleged Galaxy Z Fold 6 is listed with an eight-core CPU codenamed ‘Pineapple’ with a base frequency of 2.26GHz and a peak frequency of 3.40GHz. These CPU frequencies and codename are associated with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. This custom flagship chipset offers a higher-clocked prime core and a higher-clocked GPU compared to the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

The Geekbench entry also suggests Android 14 and 10.86GB RAM on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The listing was first spotted by SamMobile and independently verified by Gadgets360.

Additionally, Known tech industry tipster Kro (@kro_roe) on X posted that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will come with better cameras than the Galaxy S24. The post however doesn’t divulge on any further details. Previous leaks suggested unchanged cameras and battery for the phone.

Samsung is expected to hold its second Galaxy Unpacked event for 2024 on July 10 to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The upcoming phone is expected to feature a titanium frame and could be available in three colour options — dark blue, light pink, and silver. It is tipped to carry a 4,400mAh battery with a charging speed of 25W.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Said to Offer Same Battery, Charging Speed as Galaxy Z Fold 5

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to launch later this year alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Samsung usually uses its best hardware in its fold lineup and previous leaks and rumours indicated that it will arrive with substantial upgrades over last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5. Unfortunately, the company might keep the same battery and fast charging speed for the upcoming book-style foldable smartphone.

Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) has posted the battery and charging specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 on X. As per the tipster, the upcoming foldable will house a 4,400mAh battery with a charging speed of 25W, the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. This also corroborates a 3C (China Compulsory Certification) website listing.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in July in Paris. It is tipped to come with a titanium frame and could be available in three colour options — dark blue, light pink, and silver. The flagship foldable could use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SoC and 16GB of RAM.

Last year, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 was unveiled with a starting price tag of Rs. 1,54,999 for the base 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration. It has a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display on the inside with an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. On the cover, it has a 6.2-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. It runs on a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy SoC under the hood alongside 12GB of RAM.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. It also includes a 10-megapixel camera on the cover display. It has an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip Could Offer 25W Charging Just Like Their Predecessors

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 could be unveiled in the second half of this year. Multiple leaks and rumours about the next-generation foldable phones have already started appearing on the Web and most recently we get hints about their charging capabilities. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 have allegedly bagged certification from China’s Compulsory Certification (3C) website. The listing suggests the charging support on the upcoming devices, which is no different to the wired charging speed of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

In the 3C listing, spotted by Myfixguide, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are listed with model numbers “SM-F9560” and “SM-F4710”, respectively. As per the listing, the handsets have a bundled Samsung EP-TA800 charger indicating 25W wired charging support, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. The listing also confirms 5G connectivity on the upcoming models.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is rumoured to carry a 4,000mAh battery. Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 features a 4,400mAh battery, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 houses a 3,700mAh battery. Samsung has used similar charging technology for its previous flagships like the Galaxy S series phones.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in July in Paris. The book-style foldable is tipped to come with titanium frames similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone. The Galaxy Z Flip 6’s cover screen is said to have 120Hz refresh rate. It is tipped to come in 8GB or 12GB RAM options with 256GB or 512GB storage options.

As per past leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be available in three colour options — dark blue, light pink, and silver. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could be offered in light blue, light green, silver, and yellow colourways.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Tipped to Get Both Snapdragon, Exynos SoC; Galaxy Z Fold 6 May Use Titanium Frame

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to break cover in early July and new leaks suggesting the specifications of the next-generation foldables have surfaced on the Web. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is said to feature either an Exynos SoC or a Snapdragon chip, depending on the region. This move could align with the recent release of the Galaxy S24 series. It could feature a cover screen with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 512GB of storage. Additionally, the book-style foldable is tipped to come with a titanium frame. Samsung also used a titanium frame on the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Tipster Kro (@kro_roe) on X claimed that Samsung may use both Snapdragon and Exynos SoC in the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Earlier this year, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ arrived in India with the Exynos 2400 processor, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powered the phones in regions like the US and Canada. The company is expected to follow a similar strategy for the next-generation flip phone. Samsung has consistently used Snapdragon processors for its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6’s cover screen is said to have 120Hz refresh rate. It is tipped to come in two RAM — 8GB,12GB — and two storage —256GB, 512GB — options. This would be an upgrade over the standard 8GB RAM available on Galaxy Z Flip 5. The tipster also claims that the handset will have a longer battery.

Additionally, tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) on X said that Samsung will release the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a titanium frame. The company has used titanium on the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra’s frame instead of Aluminium. Apple has also used titanium on its latest iPhone 15 Pro series.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 launch is expected to take place in July. Therefore, we can expect to hear more about the foldables in the coming months.

Samsung’s Cheaper Galaxy Foldable to Cost a Lot Less and Use Cameras From Existing Models: Report

Samsung’s upcoming foldable Unpacked event (whenever Samsung decides on a schedule) will be an interesting one. While foldables are starting to get popular in the premium segment Samsung’s now facing competition from brands like Huawei, Oppo, and OnePlus in the global market. As per recent leaks, Samsung may be well-prepared this year by adding another tier to its book-style foldables lineup. The Korean manufacturer is said to be preparing the launch of two foldables, one of which will also include an ‘Ultra’ moniker this year. On the other hand, there’s also news of an affordable foldable, but little is known about it, apart from the rumours that Samsung is working on such a lower-priced model. Now, there’s more information about this cheaper book-style foldable model, and it allegedly comes from industry sources and the supply chain.

According to a Korean publication called Sisa Journal, Samsung is expected to launch its affordable foldable in 2024 itself. This is keeping in mind that an earlier report hinted that Samsung could push the launch of its affordable foldable to a later date and only launch the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 along with the expected Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra model at its usual mid-year Unpacked event.

Furthermore, the report states that Samsung will have to lower the specifications of this affordable foldable with a watered-down applications processor, display and battery. However, the source citing supply chain and industry sources claims that the cheaper foldable’s camera specifications will remain similar to existing foldable models, which currently includes just the Galaxy Z Fold 5. In short, Samsung’s cheaper foldable will cut down on raw performance, but still pack a bunch of capable (or premium) cameras.

The new affordable model is expected to have a dual camera module, parts of which will be borrowed from existing foldables devices. The report also claims that the supply chain will also remain intact (or as before) for Samsung’s 6th generation of foldable devices. However, the industry expects the volumes of production to be increased given that the affordable model is expected to sell in higher numbers than the premium models.

As for its price, industry sources claim that the phone will cost around $800 (roughly Rs. 66,000 before taxes), which is a lot lower than what most of us expected a budget book-style foldable to cost in 2024. This is less than half of what the cheapest Galaxy Fold 5 variant is priced at in India.

The push for an affordable foldable indeed makes plenty of sense given that Huawei too has recently launched several models designed to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is still a lot chubbier in comparison to newer devices like the OnePlus Open that was launched in global markets like India late last year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Camera Upgrade Tipped; May Get Same Camera as Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to launch later this year alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6, said to succeed the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, respectively. The current foldable lineup was unveiled in July 2023. The purported models are expected to come with considerable upgrades over the older ones. Several leaks have so far tipped details about the displays that the upcoming handsets may come with. The company has also been tipped to launch a more affordable foldable smartphone. Now, a tipster claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could come with a flagship-level camera.

Tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) claimed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Samsung is considering including the same camera used in the Galaxy S24 Ultra into the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The tipster says in the post “the Fold6 with the same camera sensor as the S24 Ultra instead of decreasing the battery capacity” but it could be a typo. It could be “increasing” instead of “decreasing” meaning that instead of giving a larger battery, Samsung is planning to give the Galaxy Z Fold 6 a new, upgraded main camera sensor over the older model.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with a quad rear camera system with a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter, and a 10-megapixel camera.

Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 carries a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 50-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens and OIS (optical image stabilisation) support, a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter.

An earlier leak claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may come with a wider display and slimmer design. The phone is tipped to get bigger inner and outer displays as compared to the preceding model. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex primary display and a 6.2-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover panel.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Early Renders Showcase Wider Displays and Slimmer Design

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are only a couple of months old, but speculations about their successors are already emerging on the Web. Most recently, early renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 based on one of Samsung’s newest patents have leaked online. The renders suggest major design improvements for the book-style foldable device. The handset appears to have a slimmer design with a larger external display. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Z Fold 6 alongside Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the second half of this year.

Tipster David Kowalski (@xleaks7), in collaboration with Pigto, shared supposed renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The renders, based on Samsung’s recent patent filing, suggest bigger inner and outer displays for the upcoming foldable offering more room for users to perform daily tasks. The smartphone could also offer a slimmer and wider design than the current iteration.

Samsung is expected to introduce a novel hinge module for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6. It is said to sport a different aspect ratio as well.

While not much is known about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at this point, early leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip 6 suggest that Samsung is testing a larger screen for the next-generation flip. It is expected to get a 3.9-inch cover panel, instead of Galaxy Z Flip 5’s 3.4-inch cover screen. The Galaxy AI features that debuted on the Galaxy S24 series are also expected to land on the new foldables as well.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to go official in either July or August. With just around six months to go for the potential launch, we can expect more new rumours and leaks about the devices to pop up online in the coming weeks.
