The Rebecca Prophecy Continues on ‘Ted Lasso’: Does It Point to Tedbecca or Rebeccsam?

Ted Lasso Season 3 is leaning hard into the world of magical realism. At least, it seems that every prophetic vision psychic Tish (Emma Davies) gave Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) in Episode 3 “4-5-1” is coming true. First Rebecca was given a green matchbook by her former flame Sam (Toheeb Jimoh). Then she ran into her dull Season 2 ex John (Patrick Baladi) and discovered that he was already engaged to his new girlfriend, Jessica. When Jessica (Victoria Elliott) literally says John was her “shite in knining armor,” Rebecca is shaken.

After two of Tish’s premonitions come true, Rebecca decides to see her old fertility specialist. She’s still hoping to conceive a child, but it may be for nought. Rebecca gets a phone call before the end of the episode and it seems that either she can have a child, or more likely, she’s been told she can’t. And it’s time, like with Ted (Jason Sudeikis) tearing up the “BELIEVE” sign, to move forward from the past. (Besides, Rebecca sort of already is a mother to the boys on the team.)

Of course we still haven’t had the third part of the reading, where there’s thunder, lightning, and Rebecca is upside down and drenched — but she’s safe! — come true. So there’s still time for this psychic to be bunk. However it’s looking more and more like Rebecca’s dreams of a family will come true. If so…who’s the daddy?

While the show seems to keep pointing towards Sam and Rebecca reuniting, hence the importance of the matchbook, many Ted Lasso fans believe Ted (Jason Sudeikis) and Rebecca are endgame. To them, Tish’s reading is full of secret hints that their preferred ‘ship is about to come in.

So what in Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 5 “Signs” points to a Sam/Rebecca finale and what is keeping the Tedbecca ‘shippers afloat?

Why Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 5 “Signs” Points to a Sam/Rebecca Endgame:

Okay, not to be the bearer of bad news, but the obvious surface read of Rebecca’s arc in Ted Lasso Season 3 is that she is reappraising her personal life and Sam is a big part of that.

Tish says that she sees a green matchbook in Rebecca’s hands and that the object is important. In Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 5, we repeatedly see Rebecca holding the green matchbook from Sam’s restaurant as she contemplates her future. She hasn’t reached out to her ex — yet — but he’s clearly front of mind. (Also for folks theorizing that the green matchbook is actually Ted’s green match book, i.e. his work notebook, we haven’t yet seen Rebecca holding it.)

The fact that the “shite in knining armor” wasn’t a phrase used to describe Ted — as Tedbecca fans were theorizing — also suggests that the show isn’t going out of its way to link Richmond’s coach and owner.

…or are they?

Why Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 5 “Signs” Points to a Ted/Rebecca Endgame:

Maybe the biggest reason why Tedbecca fans should be rejoicing this week is we’ve gotten yet another completely bizarre, emotionally-unhinged interaction between Ted and Rebecca in a hallway this week.

After Rebecca confides in Higgins (Jeremy Swift) about the psychic, he gives her the advice that even if psychics are charlatans, “they can help us see something in ourselves that we can’t quite see ourselves.” We cut to a quick scene with Nate (Nick Mohammed) and then watch as Rebecca and Ted awkwardly pass each other in the halls of Richmond. Rebecca calls Ted “Coach,” and he refers to her as “Rebecca.” It’s weird because she usually calls him “Ted” and his nickname for her is “Boss.”

The two pause and clear the air about the fight they had after their most recent loss. Ted cracks the joke, “I can be a little psychic,” which takes Rebecca aback. She apologizes for bullying Ted. They both seem to be unsettled by the energy between them and quickly end the conversation. Both walk away as if something odd has happened.

There could also be an argument made to the fact that one of the shots of Rebecca holding the matchbook is blocked in such a way that Ted’s biscuit box is actually in the center of frame. She’s focused on the green matchbook at the risk of missing out on what’s literally right in front of her…Ted.

Is it possible that these two are starting to change the way they see each other? Could it be that what they can’t see for themselves is how perfect they are for each other? Is this the beginning of Ted and Rebecca’s romance?

We’ll have to see what a team trip to Amsterdam means for this particular plot line in next week’s all-new episode of Ted Lasso, “Sunflowers.”

Olivia Wilde’s nanny claims Florence Pugh, Harry Styles had a fling first

It’s the one question on everyone’s lips: why did Florence Pugh exactly fall out with Olivia Wilde?

Well, Wilde’s former nanny has alleged that Pugh, in fact, had a fling with Harry Styles before Wilde started dating him.

The nanny — named as Erika Genaro by TMZ and confirmed by sources to Page Six — made the claims in a blockbuster interview with the Daily Mail this week.

In a video posted online, Genaro claimed that Sudeikis told her that “Flo was f–king Harry and she had a boyfriend.” Pugh split with longtime love Zach Braff earlier this year.

Following the nanny’s tell-all, Wilde and her ex-boyfriend, Jason Sudeikis, released a joint statement to slam her.

“I want to talk about the Jewish comment, it’s actually…

“As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly,” the former couple — who share son Otis, 8, and daughter Daisy, 6 — told Page Six.

“Her now 18 month long campaign of harassing us, as well as loved ones, close friends and colleagues, has reached its unfortunate apex. We will continue to focus on raising and protecting our children with the sincere hope that she will now choose to leave our family alone.”

As Page Six previously revealed, Pugh fell out with Wilde during filming, as multiple sources told us that the Britstar was unhappy that Wilde, her director on “Don’t Worry Darling,” and Styles, her co-star, hooking up on the Palm Springs set.

One industry source told us, “I can tell you for a fact that Flo seeing Olivia and Harry all over each other on set did not go down well as Olivia was still with Jason when she first hooked up with Harry.”

Pugh and Wilde reportedly fell out over Styles.

Pugh refused to carry out promo for the movie and then attended a somewhat frosty premiere at the Venice Film Festival last month.

Although Wilde has continued to sing Pugh’s praises, Pugh has so far stayed silent.

Speaking to Elle magazine as part of their Women in Hollywood series, Wilde doubled down on her denial of the animosity between her and Pugh, calling the rumors “untruths.”

Wilde has denied the feud.

Of Pugh, she said, “She’s so generous in her acting in every scene. She makes everyone around her better.] Florence had a really wise comment that we didn’t sign up for a reality show.

“And I love that she put it that way, because it’s as though the general public feels that if you are making something that you’re selling to the public, you somehow have accepted that your life will be torn to shreds by a pack of wolves. No, that’s actually not part of the job description. Never was.”

Wilde — who also acts in the psychological drama — added, “This film is trying to ask big questions, but [it’s] ‘Let’s just focus on this sideshow over here.”

Reps for Pugh, Wilde and Styles were unavailable for comment.

FIFA 23: Ted Lasso to Be Part of EA’s New Football Game, With Fictional Club AFC Richmond

Ted Lasso might be headed to FIFA 23. In a tweet from the Apple TV+ show’s official account, the football coach, played by Emmy-winning actor Jason Sudeikis, is seen getting digitally scanned, hinting it’s for an upcoming game. EA Sports FIFA then replied to the tweet with a side-eye emoji, perhaps sealing the deal for the fictional coach’s appearance in the latest football simulation game. Furthermore, a listing for his club AFC Richmond briefly appeared on EA’s FIFA ratings database, before getting removed last week.

“Look out, Mario! You’re not the only pixelated man with a moustache who never knows where the tube is taking him…,” the tweet reads, poking fun at Lasso’s uncertain and random career path. For the uninitiated, Ted Lasso is a sports comedy series, that follows an American football college coach, who gets hired to coach a second-tier English football team, AFC Richmond. That’s two different sports. As you would expect, his arrival is met with scepticism, as he struggles to learn the sport and the culture surrounding it. The show scored four Emmy awards this year, including a second straight Outstanding Comedy Series.

Last week, leaks surfaced indicating that the fictional club AFC Richmond would make it to FIFA 23. And while there was no team logo at the time, a new screenshot on Reddit confirms the club’s inclusion, and that it could be available as a playable team. Does this mean the remaining Ted Lasso cast of players is getting scanned too? That said, it appears as though AFC Richmond players can also be transferred into your Ultimate Team or the career mode.

Last month, EA Sports revealed that FIFA 23 would allow players to step into the shoes of world-famous managers, as players pick from a template, built keeping their likeness in mind. Managers can be put in control of their main clubs, transferred onto a different one, or you can accept contracts for new opportunities. With the aforementioned Ted Lasso crossover coming up, we could see him stealing the limelight, as players use his model as club managers.

The AFC Richmond screenshots weren’t the only thing to be leaked, as last month, by EA Sports accidentally made FIFA 23 briefly playable on Xbox consoles. Those who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition were able to enter the game, grab quick screenshots, and post them online. The access was soon disabled, but the damage had already been done. Besides player ratings, the leak also ended up revealing third kits for Liverpool FC and Atlético Madrid.

FIFA 23 is out September 30 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Purchasing the Ultimate Edition or subscribing to EA Play Pro gets you three-day early access from September 27. EA Play gives you limited access from September 27. FIFA 23 Legacy Edition will be available on Nintendo Switch.
