Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 1 Title Revealed as “The Crawl”

Stranger Things 5 episode 1 title has been revealed. To close out its Stranger Things Day 2022 celebration, held November 6 in the US, Netflix revealed that the first episode of the final season of Stranger Things is called “Chapter One: The Crawl.” The title was revealed on Twitter via what appears to be the script, written by creators Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers. The duo commenced work on the screenplay on August 1, exactly a month after Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2 premiered on Netflix.

Without context, the Stranger Things season 5 episode 1 title “The Crawl” feels too vague. Speaking to Collider on the premise for the final season, creator Matt Duffer revealed that the upcoming chapter will be primarily be set within Hawkins, as they explore the history behind the parallel, horrifying truths of the Upside Down universe. The realm where the Demogorgon, Shadow Monster, and the Mind Flayer ravished in, before stepping into the real world and creating havoc. Stranger Things 4 saw our lead characters wilfully delving into the Upside Down, as means to take down Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). As that alternate dimension and its ghoulishness start merging with Hawkins, we can expect a lot more overlap between the two locales.

“The big reveals that are coming in season 5 are really about the Upside Down itself, which we only start to hint at. There is that moment where we realise in episode seven this year [Stranger Things 4] that it’s frozen in time,” Ross Duffer explained in the interview, stressing that Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) will play a “big part” in the final season. In the first season, Will was captured by the Demogorgon, and strung up in a different version of Hawkins’ public library.

Stranger Things season 5 is reportedly set to begin filming in 2023, with returning stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Beyers, David Harbour (Black Widow) as police chief Jim Hopper, Millie Bobby Brown (Enola Holmes) as Eleven/ Jane Hopper, Schnapp as Will, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, and Charlie Heaton as Will’s older brother Jonathan Byers.

In its first 28 days of release, Stranger Things 4 — Vol.1 and Vol. 2 combined — generated 1.352 billion viewing hours on Netflix, claiming first place as the most-watched English language series on Netflix. The series stands second when it comes to worldwide releases, trailing behind South Korean hit Squid Game, which tallied up 1.650 billion hours in the same time span.

Reports from last month also revealed that the Duffer Brothers had found its writer for the Death Note live-action series in Halia Abdel-Meguid. Under their new production banner Upside Down Pictures, the directing duo confirmed the adaptation of the critically-acclaimed manga/ anime in July, alongside a project based on Stephen King’s The Talisman. The studio also has a stage play planned within the Stranger Things mythology, alongside a spin-off series.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Episode 9 Introduces The Hulk’s Son Skaar

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale has introduced the Hulk’s son Skaar. Wrapping up its first season with episode 9, Marvel’s superhero legal comedy went full meta on its audience, before bringing back Jennifer Walters’ cousin, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Hulk is back from his trip to Sakaar, the garbage planet, bringing with him his long-lost offspring Skaar (Wil Deusner). The introduction opens pathways for new storylines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. All episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law are out now on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar.

The first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ended on a bombastic note, with Walters (Tatiana Maslany) breaking the fourth wall, and entering the Marvel Studios writing room, questioning the choices that led to her spotlight getting stolen in the episode. Following that altercation, we are treated to a pleasant get-together, with Matt Murdock/ Daredevil (Charlie Cox’s) being introduced to the Walters family.

The jolly mood is briefly interrupted when her cousin, Professor Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), shows up at the occasion. “I know I’ve been away on Sakaar for a while. I’ll tell you all about it,” he says. “But first, I have someone here that I’d like you all to meet.” He steps aside, revealing his alien son Skaar, garbed in a warrior’s outfit and a peculiar hairstyle. Deusner, best known for The CW Network’s Stargirl, is credited as the actor.

She-Hulk episode 9: Who is Skaar?

We have yet to learn about the events leading up to this reveal, but it is known that Banner spends a good amount of time, smashing opponents in Sakaar’s gladiator arena. The planet was first introduced in director Taika Waititi’s 2017 film, Thor: Ragnarok. In the Marvel comics, Hulk falls in love with a fellow warrior, Caiera the Oldstrong, eventually resulting in the offspring Skaar. This is explored in Greg Pak’s “Planet Hulk” storyline, where Hulk leads an uprising against the Sakaarian king, gets married to Caiera, and starts ruling the planet.

Unfortunately, the latter dies in a spacecraft explosion, causing Hulk to blame the Illuminati — introduced in the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — and set off on an act of bloodthirsty revenge. However, the son survives. Abandoned on the hostile planet amongst all kinds of perilous creatures, he grows at an abnormal rate with murder on his mind.

The She-Hulk finale features the father-son reunion, though Skaar’s facial expression suggests a lack of interest. Perhaps there are still some unresolved issues between the two? Another takeaway is his hairstyle, which is super different from the portrayal in the comics, where he sports long, flowy hair. While Marvel Studios has not revealed its plans for future entries, a minor interaction between Walters and the AI, K.E.V.I.N — a play on Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige — earlier in She-Hulk episode 9, hinted at a solo Hulk movie.

She-Hulk episode 9 post-credits scene, explained

Additionally, She-Hulk Attorney at Law episode 9 also featured a post-credits scene. After Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) is sent back to prison, for breaching bail, he is once again greeted by Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Wong). Keeping his promise to Blonsky, the sorcerer offers him sanctuary at the Kamar Taj, before the two discuss the guest policy, and disappear into the sparking portal.

All episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law are out now on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar.

Thunderbolts: Harrison Ford to Replace William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross in Marvel Movie: Report

Harrison Ford has reportedly joined the cast of Thunderbolts. As per a /Film report, the Indiana Jones star will replace the late William Hurt, as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Deadline reported Hurt’s demise, earlier this year, after being diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in 2018. The blustering General has now been recast with Ford, marking his foray into the superhero genre. Thunderbolts will close out MCU’s Phase 5 and is slated to release in July 2024, in cinemas worldwide.

Disney revealed the Thunderbolts cast lineup at its D23 Expo last month, bringing together a crew of anti-heroes and villains, in what seems to be MCU’s attempt at its own Suicide Squad. Indeed, there was no mention of Hurt during the announcement, who has been keeping tabs on these characters, throughout the arc. Hurt first made his debut in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, later reprising the role of Secretary of State Ross, in several Marvel films, including Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Widow. Fans were expecting to see him in the Thunderbolts film before the actor’s demise altered plans.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has now risen to the occasion, recasting the character. “We can independently confirm that the news announced live on The Hot Mic With John Rocha and Jeff Sneider is in fact true. The role of Thaddeus Ross will be recast with — yep, you’re reading this correctly — Harrison Ford,” reads the /Film report. Ford has been associated with parent company Disney for a while now, notorious for his appearance as Han Solo in the Star Wars films. Taking Ford’s age into account — 80 years — fans can’t expect him to perform action stunts, though he just finished shooting the next Indiana Jones movie. /Film further notes that Ford’s version of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, will debut in Captain America: New World Order, slated for a May 2024 release.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts brings back familiar faces, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. First introduced in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, she made John Walker (Wyatt Russell) her first recruit, naming him the US Agent. The Thunderbolts squad was later expanded with Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier.

Thunderbolts releases July 26, 2024, in cinemas worldwide. Filming begins sometime next year.

Dwayne Johnson Spoils Black Adam, Teases Major Return in Post-Credits Scene

Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson is spoiling his own movie, ahead of its release next week. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, The Rock confirmed that the highly-requested heavyweight bout between him and Superman will be set up, in the upcoming DC Comics film. Henry Cavill, who played Superman in the Zack Snyder trilogy, is returning to the franchise, and will possibly make an appearance in Black Adam. Black Adam is set to release in theatres on October 20, in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.

“We’ve established Black Adam as the most powerful and unstoppable force on our planet. But the fans have been so passionate about, as we have been, where’s the most unstoppable force in the universe? Where is he?” Johnson tells ET, during the New York premiere. “We’ve all been fighting for this moment. So I will say this: Welcome home.” This is in regard to Cavill’s appearance in the film, who was sidelined after 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League. As for Cavill’s return to the larger DC Universe, neither Warner Bros. nor the actor himself has disclosed any information.

Black Adam to Ram Setu, the 7 Biggest Movies in October

As often happens with superhero films, the post-credits scene from Black Adam was reportedly leaked online, with Cavill’s Superman stepping out of a smoke cloud and confronting Black Adam. “It’s been a while since anyone’s made the world this nervous,” the former says, teasing a clash between the titans, in a future entry. Warner Bros. has been on the hunt, issuing copyright takedowns to have the footage pulled from across Twitter and TikTok. A spokesperson for the latter confirmed the claims to Variety.

As evidenced by an earlier report, Johnson has been super vocal about wanting to bring Black Adam and Superman together, onto the silver screen — stating that’s the “whole point” of the film. Johnson has spent the last 15 years, trying to introduce Black Adam to the mainstream media, even once securing an appearance on David F. Sandberg’s 2019 film, Shazam!. Plans were later changed, with the antihero receiving a solo origin story slated for 2021, which saw further delay, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Black Adam heralds a new era of power in the DC Universe, introducing five new superheroes to the franchise. Besides Johnson’s Teth/ Black Adam, we have the Justice Society of America (JSA), roping in Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher. Viola Davis (The Suicide Squad) will also make an appearance as Amanda Waller, commanding officer for the expendable field team Task Force X.

Black Adam releases in cinemas worldwide on October 20. In India, the DC Comics movie will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Hugh Jackman retuned to new film days after father’s passing

Hugh Jackman surprised fans at the Hamptons International Film Festival when the “X-Men” star showed up unannounced for a Q&A following a screening of his latest movie, “The Son.”

A source told us the making of the movie — about a man struggling to care for his teen son — “was incredibly difficult for Jackman as his own father, Christopher John Jackman, tragically passed at 84 during [the film’s] shooting.”

The source added, “Jackman returned to set just three days following his loss, and he mentioned during his sit-down with Hamptons artistic director David Nugent that he could ‘feel his father’s presence’ with him during filming as he and writer-director Florian Zeller shot some of the project’s most emotionally complex scenes that speak to both the rewards and challenges of parenthood.”

Jackman, 54, said from the stage of one particularly emotional scene in the film, “I find it hard to watch that scene because I could feel him in the room.”

The project also stars Anthony Hopkins, Laura Dern and Vanessa Kirby

Jackman’s dad died last year on Father’s Day in their native Australia. The movie star posted a moving tribute on Instagram saying, “In the early hours of Father’s Day (AU), my Dad peacefully passed away… And whilst there is deep sadness, I am filled with such gratitude and love. My Dad was, in a word, extraordinary. He devoted his life to his family, his work and his faith. I pray he is now at peace with God.”

The Hamptons festival runs through October 16. Alec Baldwin, Chelsea Clinton, “Home Alone” director Chris Columbus and fashion designer Donna Karan have also appeared at the Long Island event this year.

As “X-Men” hero Wolverine, Jackman will star in the third “Deadpool” movie with Ryan Reynolds, it was announced by Reynolds last month.

In a video clip teasing the upcoming Marvel project, Reynolds asked, “Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” “Yeah, for sure,” Jackman nonchalantly replied in the background.

Reynolds and Jackman are friends off-screen as well. Reynolds posted on Instagram when Jackman announced his father’s death, “I was lucky to have met him,” with a heart emoji.

Jackman’s upcoming projects also include a biblical role as Paul the Apostle in a project being produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, as well as Baz Luhrmann’s series for Hulu, “Faraway Downs,” based on the Jackman and Nicole Kidman movie, “Australia.”

Jackman told Oprah Winfrey of his dad in 2006: “To this day, I am the least materialistic person I know, because my father didn’t raise me to just go out and buy this or that car.”

Jurassic World Dominion Prime Video Release Date Set for October 17

Jurassic World Dominion — the third entry in the Jurassic World film series, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the lead — is coming exclusively to Amazon Prime Video next Monday, October 17. And it will be available in two more languages than the theatrical version, and as many as when the video-on-demand premiere happened in late July. You will be able to watch Jurassic World Dominion in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam — all as part of your Amazon Prime subscription. In cinemas, the sixth Jurassic movie was offered in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

With the October 17 premiere on the subscription-based Prime Video, Jurassic World Dominion reaches the end of its release lifecycle. (Unless you still watch films on TV channels, in which case, your wait continues.) The third Jurassic World movie debuted four months ago on this day, June 10, in cinemas worldwide. Exactly six weeks later on July 22, Jurassic World Dominion was released on video-on-demand platforms — Apple TV, Google Play Movies, Hungama Play, Prime Video Store, YouTube Movies, and Zee Plex — where you could rent and/or purchase. And then three-and-a-half weeks later on August 16, the latest dino film arrived on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Blu-ray.

Jurassic World Dominion Review: What in the Actual Dino Is Going On?

Directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) off a screenplay he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Jurassic World Dominion stars Pratt as former US Navy veteran and Jurassic World’s Velociraptor trainer Owen Grady, Howard as former park manager, Dinosaur Protection Group founder, and Owen’s girlfriend Claire Dearing, Laura Dern as paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler who consulted on the original Jurassic Park, Jeff Goldblum as fellow consultant Dr. Ian Malcolm who was involved in The Lost World: Jurassic Park’s San Diego incident, and Sam Neill as paleontologist and fellow consultant Dr. Alan Grant who survived the Isla Sorna expedition depicted in Jurassic Park III.

The third Jurassic World movie also has roles for DeWanda Wise as former US Air Force pilot Kayla Watts, Mamoudou Athie as Biosyn communications chief Ramsay Cole, Isabella Sermon as Maisie Lockwood who is a clone of the original Maisie and now the adoptive daughter of Owen and Claire, Campbell Scott as Biosyn CEO Dr. Lewis Dodgson who’s the main villain, BD Wong as lead geneticist Dr. Henry Wu who cloned dinosaurs for both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, Omar Sy as former animal trainer and French intelligence agent Barry Sembène, Justice Smith as Jurassic World technician Franklin Webb, and Daniella Pineda as paleo-veterinarian Dr. Zia Rodriguez.

Set four years after Isla Nublar’s destruction in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the third chapter finds dinosaurs roaming the Earth again. Facing the cataclysmic consequences of a planet once again dominated by prehistoric predators, two generations of Jurassic heroes unite. Doctors Ellie Sattler (Dern), Ian Malcolm (Goldblum), and Alan Grant (Neill) return to join Owen Grady (Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Howard) for an incredible adventure that will determine the destiny of humans and dinosaurs once and for all.

While Jurassic World Dominion was billed as “the grand conclusion in the epic saga” by Universal Pictures, Trevorrow seemed to suggest otherwise recently. Could the studio be tempted to do a sequel? After all, despite being universally panned by critics including Gadgets 360, Jurassic World Dominion grossed a billion dollars at the global box office. That said, its commercial performance was the lowest in the Jurassic World series. The 2015 original made $1.67 billion (about Rs. 13,743 crore), and the 2018 sequel added $1.31 billion (about Rs. 10,780 crore) to the coffers.

Jurassic World Dominion is out October 17 exclusively on Prime Video. In India, Jurassic World Dominion will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Harvey Weinstein’s LA sex crime trial begins

Five years after bombshell reports of sexual misconduct ended his career and propelled the #MeToo movement, Harvey Weinstein will stand trial in Los Angeles Monday on a slew of sex-crimes charges.

The fallen movie mogul — currently locked up on a 23-year sentence for rape and sexual assault in New York — is staring down four counts of rape and seven counts of sexual assault from five women in LA.

His second trial is set to test the endurance of the #MeToo movement: the chances Weinstein, 70, might win an appeal for his New York conviction are increasing, and if the LA jury fails to convict, he could soon be a free man.

“It is disturbing and shocking that Harvey was allowed to continue his New York appeal, and so we – survivors, supporters – are paying very, very close attention to the Los Angeles trial,” one of his accusers, Caitlin Dulany, said in a recent interview with The New York Times.

“There’s obviously a lot at stake for the women who are testifying, but there is also a lot at stake for all of us,’ Dulany said, referencing the women will take the stand in LA under the name Jane Doe.

“If it goes the wrong way, it will be a step backwards. I think it will make it harder for women to come forward in the future.”

Jury selection will begin Monday in the trial expected to last two months. The charges stem from alleged incidents between 2004 and 2013.

Despite the high stakes, the courtroom scene is expected to be quieter than at Weinstein’s first trial in Manhattan, with only a dozen reporters allowed to sit in the gallery.

“Mr. Weinstein’s notoriety and his place in our culture at the center of the firestorm which is the #MeToo movement is real, and we’re trying to do everything we can to avoid having a trial when there will be a swirl of adverse publicity toward him,” his lawyer Mark Workman said a pre-trial hearing.

The disgraced producer has been in poor health as of late, appearing unkempt and with bags under his eyes in a courtroom at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, where the proceedings will take place. He has been jailed at LA’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility while awaiting trial.

“I’m in pain every day. I have cavities and I can’t eat because I’m missing teeth,” he recently told the court.

In February 2020, a Manhattan jury found Weinstein guilty of forcibly performing oral sex on former “Project Runway” production assistant Miriam “Mimi” Haleyi in 2006 and of raping hairstylist Jessica Mann in 2013.

He was acquitted on two charges of predatory sexual assault related to allegations he raped actress Annabella Sciorra in the mid-1990s.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Trailer Reveals New Villain Vadic

Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer is here. Following a sneak peek last month on Star Trek Day, Paramount+ has now dropped a full-length trailer for the Patrick Stewart-led space franchise, as he leads The Next Generation crew on a final mission. Appropriately subtitled “The Final Season,” this new chapter comprises of a total of 10 episodes, and enlists recurring characters at a later point in their arcs. Star Trek: Picard season 3 premieres on February 16, 2023, exclusively on Paramount+ where available. It will end its run on April 20, 2023. In India, Star Trek: Picard season 3 will air on Amazon Prime Video.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer

The trailer for Star Trek: Picard season 3 begins with a “normal” life for Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Stewart), which gets interrupted by a distress call. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), who is stationed on a far-off ship, has requested backup from her long-time companion, urging Picard to bring back the crew from retirement. “We are being hunted,” Crusher says in a voiceover, as we see Picard and a now-aged William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) investigating the shuttle. The suspense is broken early, when the commander Vadic (Amanda Plummer) reveals herself to be the culprit. “How very precise with your timing, Jean-Luc Picard,” she wires in through a mocking tone, before ordering a direct strike on The Next Generation ship.

There also seems to be some drama within the ship, as Starfleet officer Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) expresses concern over Picard’s decision to bring in Ryker and Worf (Michael Dorn), for the final mission. The Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer then flashes glimpses of Raffi (Michelle Hurd), besting foes in hand-to-hand combat — described as an irrational and violent character. “We will scorch the earth under which he stands. And, the night will brighten with the ashes of the Federation,” says the villainous Vadic, as she orders continuous attacks on Picard’s ship. Her motivations aren’t fully clear, but there’s a theme of vengeance looming above.

Of course, Vadic isn’t the only adversary to be featured in the Star Trek: Picard season 3 trailer, as towards the end, we’re treated to a first look at Daniel Davis’ return as Professor Moriarty, the hologram. Fans who stick around after the title card will also be treated to Brent Spiner, who has been missing from previous promotional material for this season of Star Trek: Picard. He will be returning as Data’s evil twin android, Lore.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 release date

The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard premieres February 16, 2023 on Paramount+ where available and Amazon Prime Video in India. Paramount and Amazon struck a deal back in 2019.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Casts Jessica Jones’ Eka Darville, Locke & Key’s Kevin Durand: Report

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has reportedly cast Eka Darville and Kevin Durand, in undisclosed roles. 20th Century Studios announced the film last week, with a teaser image and a 2024 release window. Wes Ball — regarded for his work in the Maze Runner films — is attached to direct, from a script penned by a team of four. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes serves as the fourth entry in the reboot franchise, and is set years after the events of director Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes.

The 2017 film served as a fitting end to ape Caesar’s (Andy Serkis) journey, as he passed away looking onto the horizon — ensuring a safer future for his son and his army. During his final moments, Maurice (Karin Konoval), the noble Orangutan, promised him that the child will know of Caesar’s legacy. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes begins production this month, so it’s super early to tell if this new chapter follows the offspring’s story. But what we know for sure, is that it’s a direct sequel, “picking up many years after” Caesar’s death.

Both Darville and Durand join the already confirmed cast, including Owen Teague (It), Peter Macon (Family Guy), and Freya Allan — best known for playing Ciri in Netflix’s The Witcher series.

Darville was also once part of the Netflix family, via Marvel’s Jessica Jones, before it officially switched homes to Disney+. Meanwhile, horror fans will recognise Durand as Frederick Gideon, the minor antagonist from Locke & Key. While there are no details on the former’s role in the film, Deadline’s unconfirmed sources claim that Durand will be playing a villainous ape.

Originally, Reeves (The Batman) expressed interest in making more Apes movies, with Steve Zahn’s (The White Lotus) Bad Ape, and expanding the story. However, by late 2019, he was engaged with the DC Comics film, putting Ball in control of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. As for the writing team, we’ve got Josh Friedman (Terminator: Dark Fate), Rick Jaffa (Mulan), Amanda Silver (Jurassic World), and Patrick Aison (Prey).

The Planet of the Apes film franchise dates back to 1968, with Rod Serling’s script introducing themes of the Cold War and a twist ending, which revealed planet Earth to be a nuclear wasteland. The year 2001 saw a Tim Burton remake, which never got a sequel, as the director found 20th Century Fox’s production schedule quite exhausting. The studio later revisited the franchise through Rupert Wyatt’s 2011 reboot, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which grossed $481.8 million (about Rs. 3,929 crore) globally.

Director Reeves came on board to direct the follow-ups — Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes. The films made $708.8 million (about Rs. 5,778 crore) and $490.7 million (about Rs. 4,000 crore), respectively, at the worldwide box office. In our review of the third chapter, we called the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy the best trilogy of the 2010s. Its sequel has a lot to live up to.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is slated to release sometime in 2024 in theatres worldwide.

Jurassic World Dominion Director Hints at More Movies in the Franchise

Jurassic World Dominion director Colin Trevorrow hints at more movies in the franchise. In an interview with Empire, the filmmaker confirmed that he intentionally planted seeds for future directors to explore. “I specifically did something different than the other films in order to change the DNA of the franchise,” he explained — in hopes of introducing new characters and tone for upcoming films in the dino-verse. Trevorrow was involved in all three Jurassic World movies, serving as executive producer in 2018’s Fallen Kingdom.

Speaking to Empire, Trevorrow said that while the last five films — including Steven Spielberg’s original trilogy — were based on the dinosaurs, with Jurassic World Dominion, he created a world where humans and the pre-historic reptiles coexisted together. According to him, this was the only way for the franchise to move forward, “because it’s inherently unfranchisable, there probably should have only been one Jurassic Park.” This seemed like a better plot device than creating scenarios, where the lead characters are forced onto Isla Nublar, the dinosaur island.

Jurassic World Dominion Review: What in the Actual Dino Is Going On?

While Dominion saw the inclusion of the original Jurassic Park stars — Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum — it also introduced fresh faces, including DeWanda Wise, Mamoudou Athie, and Dichen Lachman (Altered Carbon). Trevorrow alludes that their characters can be developed for future stories in the franchise, thanks to the additional 14 minutes, present in the Extended Version — released last month on digital, Blu-Ray, and 4K UHD. “There’s more to come,” he said. In India, however, Apple TV, YouTube Movies, and BMS Stream only have the theatrical version listed — running for 2 hours and 27 minutes.

“I never knew that this was the ending of the franchise until I saw the marketing,” Trevorrow added. “Those guys are brilliant at what they do, but for me, I think it might have been clearer if they’d said, ‘The end of an era’, as opposed to all of it. Because regardless of the cynical approach — of course, they’re gonna want to make more money, which is what Jurassic World was about — a new dinosaur fan is born every day.”

While Jurassic World Dominion was not well received by critics, it went on to become a global box office success, crossing the $1 billion (about Rs. 8,157 crore) mark, as of last week. It is the second film on 2022’s highest-grossing films list, falling behind the Tom Cruise-led flight action film, Top Gun: Maverick, which stands at $1.47 billion (about Rs. 11,991 crore). Based on its box office performance, it won’t be surprising to see Universal Pictures continue the dino saga, building off Trevorrow’s foundation.
