Warner Bros. and Tubi Partner to Bring DC Comics Movies to Streaming for Free in the US

All DC Comics movies, including The Batman, Wonder Woman and more, will be coming to Fox’s ad-supported streaming service, Tubi. The catalogue will be available next year in the US, thanks to a new partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery, which adds 10 new WB-branded Fast channels for easy access across the service. This is ideal for fans who are unwilling to pay the ever-rising monthly price for the Max streaming service — formerly, HBO Max — though they will get interrupted with advertisements. Some of the older titles like Batman, Batman Returns, and the Christopher Reeve-led Superman movies are now available on Tubi (US), alongside recent shows like Batwoman and Gotham.

“The addition of recent blockbuster movies and fan-favourite series from the DC library is a monumental offering for Tubi viewers,” Tubi CCO Adam Lewinson said in a press release. “We’re so pleased to have such wonderful partners at Warner Bros. Discovery who are expanding the reach of their superhero franchise films and series that are destined to draw new audiences and fandoms with Tubi’s highly engaged viewers.” On December 31, Tubi will also play host to Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, one of the longest-running TV series about the Kryptonian superhero. Meanwhile, 2024 will welcome newer movies including The Batman, Black Adam, Aquaman, both Wonder Woman movies, Ryan Reynolds-led Green Lantern, and Suicide Squad. For now, it appears that fresh entries won’t be instantly making it to the service and there will be a waiting period between the initial theatrical release and Tubi availability.

Several animated movies such as Batman: Death in the Family, Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox, The Death of Superman, Son of Batman, and more will be coming to the streamer, later this month. Also joining are the Constantine live-action film starring Keanu Reeves, The CW’s Swamp Thing series, and Stargirl. Of course, one can always rely on Max and Netflix for the content slate but if you can put up with ads, this is a great alternative. Tubi will also serve as a platform for the larger Warner Bros. Content, ranging between classic cinema, travel and adventure, romance, and horror flicks boasting popular entries like Annabelle, Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep, and the Friday trilogy.

These changes come in the wake of a ground-up DC Universe restructuring, with James Gunn and Peter Safran helming the newly branded DC Studios, which aims to revitalise and chart a new course for films, TV shows, and animated series in the franchise. The first movie to kick things off will be Superman: Legacy starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent/ Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Currently, there is no word on when the DC Comics and Warner Bros. catalogue will be coming to Tubi India.

Wonder Woman 3 Reportedly Not in Development at DC Studios, Despite Gal Gadot’s Claims

Wonder Woman 3 is reportedly not in development, despite actor Gal Gadot’s comments from earlier this week. As per Variety’s sources, new DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran don’t have any plans for a Wonder Woman project, besides the Paradise Lost prequel series that was announced for Max (previously HBO Max), as part of its revamped DC Universe slate. Word about a threequel spread like wildfire when Gadot claimed in a pre-SAG-AFTRA strike interview that the aforementioned parties had privately confirmed the film’s development to her.

That statement was then emphasised in a profile she did for Flaunt magazine, promoting her newly released Netflix film Heart of Stone. “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman — you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell,” she said. The Variety report, however, claims that nothing of the sort was promised to Gadot and even so, there was no definitive discussion of whether she would be reprising her role in the new DCU. Gadot first appeared as the Amazonian princess in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, before branching off into two standalone Wonder Woman films. She also had a cameo in The Flash, but that movie was a reset point for the universe. Also, they were made before Gunn and Safran joined the studio.

Both Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 were helmed by Patty Jenkins, who back in December, submitted a screenplay for a third untitled movie, co-written with Geoff Johns (Suicide Squad). However, the character’s vision/ treatment did not align with the vision Gunn and Safran had planned for the overhaul and therefore, got cancelled. That report, too, broke after Gadot had made positive claims on her Twitter handle, about her return with a third film. While production costs weren’t a concern for Warner Bros. at the time, they could end up saving ‘tens of millions of dollars’ by straight-up cancelling Wonder Woman 3.

Even the DC Comics presentation in January from Gunn did not mention another Wonder Woman film, instead announcing a Paradise Lost series that would serve as an origins story for the mysterious locale inhabited and governed by Amazonian women. The show will focus on the drama and political intrigue behind the society to explore its rules and the lore behind the banishment of all men from the island nation of Themyscira. “It’s almost like Game of Thrones with Westeros, but with all of the inhabitants of Paradise Island,” Gunn described, at the time.

The Flash Speeds Into Sluggish $139 Million Debut at the Global Box Office

The Flash has sped into a sluggish $139 million (about Rs. 1,140 crore) opening at the global box office just shy of Black Adam’s opening weekend, which stood at $140 million (about Rs. 1,148 crore). Marking the reset point that ushers in James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe, the film is reportedly performing worse than projections, earning merely $64 million (about Rs. 525 crore) from within the US and Canada. From everywhere else in the world, the film collected $75 million (about Rs. 615 crore), below the predicted $85–$95 million margin.

Several factors might have played into this, mainly surrounding its lead Ezra Miller who was largely barred from appearing in The Flash’s publicity campaigns, following his run-ins with the law in 2022. Around that time, Warner Bros. concocted three release scenarios for the film, with the studio even considering scrapping the $200 million (about Rs. 1,639 crore) movie if the actor refused to seek help or cooperate. Reshooting the same film with a different actor would’ve also been impossible, since there are two versions of Barry Allen in the film, with his face present in almost every scene. Therefore, much of the marketing was done with Sasha Calle, who plays Supergirl in The Flash.

Meanwhile, its director Andy Mushietti confirmed that Miller will continue playing the Scarlet Speedster, as long as he is involved in the superhero franchise. In case a sequel is greenlit, he wants Miller back, saying: “I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it,” in an interview. Even ignoring that The Flash does not have a star of Dwayne Johnson’s stature for marketing purposes (Black Adam), the film had one thing in common with other recently successful films — multiverse-hopping shenanigans.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is the first thing that comes to mind, lifting the Oscar award earlier this year, for Best Picture. From the superhero realm, we’ve seen back-to-back wins from Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and more recently, Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse.

With the aforementioned figures, the DC Extended Universe continues to underperform. As per Deadline, China took the top spot, earning The Flash an estimated $13.8 million (about Rs. 113 crore), which is still lower than the expected traffic. Following next is Mexico with $9.4 million (about Rs. 77 crore), while the UK added another $5.3 million (about Rs. 43 crore) to the pot. Korea came in fourth, making $3.8 million (about Rs. 31 crore), closely followed by Brazil with $3.5 million (about Rs. 29 crore). The film has a fairly clear runway until the end of June, which brings Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny to theatres.

Hopefully, Gunn’s revamped DC Universe finds the right footing and propels the franchise back into profit. Just last week, he hired The Flash’s director Muschietti to direct the new Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, which brings Damian Wayne/ Robin into the mix.

The Flash is now showing in theatres worldwide.

The Flash Trailer: Barry Allen’s Worlds Collide in New DC Comics Time-Hopping Movie

Upcoming superhero movie The Flash just got its final trailer, ahead of its premiere on June 16. Marking a reset point for the DC Universe, the film has been long-gestating at Warner Bros., enduring a bunch of ups and downs, including lead Ezra Miller’s run-ins with law enforcement last year. The new trailer, however, seems to spoil the beginning segments of the much-awaited movie, as Barry Allen cracks open the multiverse with his new-found time travel abilities and reunites with his parents. Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne gets more screentime in this trailer, though there’s no indication of whether he will meet up with the alternate Michael Keaton version in the film.

The trailer for The Flash opens with our titular hero being cheered on by random kids on the street before getting called in to see Bruce Wayne (Affleck) in person. It’s unclear why The Flash seems reluctant to meet him, but he’s too timid to say no. “So you’re saying you can travel back in time?”, Wayne asks Allen (Miller), presumably to see if those powers could be used for the benefit of Earth. “But Bruce, I can fix things. I could save people. I could save my mom. I could save your parents,” he tells Wayne, who holds onto the belief that messing with time could be catastrophic.

The Flash trailer then cuts to show Allen sprinting back in time to see his mom (Maribel Verdú), who died on the same fateful night that he got his superhuman powers. Of course, his father Henry Allen (Ron Livingston) is at the kitchen table as well, having been falsely arrested on suspicion of murder back then.

The reunited family start chatting about Barry’s school life, to which he responds with “good” in a really corny manner — one that’s enough to pique suspicion from his mother. However, it appears as if Barry didn’t plan out his time travel mission fully, as the alternate timeline’s Barry slowly makes his way towards the house. The pair meet upstairs in Barry’s room, agreeing on how trippy the entire affair is. “Dude, this is catastrophic,” the future Barry explains in The Flash trailer. We then skip to General Zod’s (Michael Shannon) arrival on Earth with the intention of destroying it — an Earth without metahumans, so there’s no Superman to save the day this time. Soon after, our heroic pair meet up with this timeline’s version of the Kryptonian hero — Supergirl (Sasha Calle), who agrees to help on the mission and goes head-to-head in combat with the villainous Zod.

“Interesting group,” an older Wayne (Keaton) says, presumably coming out from retirement. “Want some help?” He also seems quite charitable, handing out one of his suits to the alternate Barry to spraypaint it and turn it into a makeshift Flash suit. As for how this timeline’s Barry gained powers is a bit unclear for now, but he seems capable enough to stay toe-to-toe with the more advanced superheroes in the battle against Zod. Despite being old, Keaton’s Batman is fully combat-ready in The Flash trailer, easily fending for himself against mercenaries by smoothly gliding in and dispatching them one after the other.

The trailer ends with a montage of Earth’s heroes working together, with The Flash spinning in place and sending out a mini tornado to hunt down enemies. Kiersey Clemons’ Iris West, who first appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, is also seen towards the end, making a keen observation that Barry has got some really ‘fancy friends’.

The Flash speeds into theatres worldwide on June 16.

Jason Momoa-Led Minecraft Movie Sets April 2025 Release Date

The Jason Momoa-led live-action Minecraft movie finally has a release date. Warner Bros. has confirmed that the troubled adaptation of the block-building sandbox video game will hit theatres on April 4, 2025. Currently, there are no plot or character details for what Momoa could play, but it lists Jared Hess as the director, best known for Napoleon Dynamite. Buzz around a Minecraft movie began in 2014 when Shawn Levy (Free Guy) quit working on the film upon hitting a dead end for a solid story. As it turns out, his and the writing team’s ideas didn’t align with the game developers’ vision. Multiple directors have joined and dropped out from the project since then, with WB locking in on Momoa to lead last year. WB’s rights to Minecraft were set to expire in January 2023.

To be fair, it’s tough to envision a story for Minecraft, which essentially is a free-willed type of game where creativity and item crafting is the priority. However, one could create a wholly original story, as seen with Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode, simply using its universe as a device to capture a young warrior’s perilous new adventure, after having slain the Ender Dragon.

That said, video game adaptations — save for select examples such as The Last of Us, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Arcane — have always received poor on-screen translations, be it for odd narrative choices or character motivations that stray too far from the source. Elsewhere, Mojang Studios is preparing to launch its upcoming Minecraft spinoff title Minecraft Legends on April 18 — a strategy game that has you form alliances and wage war against the Piglin mob.

The Last of Us Season 1 Review

Warner Bros. also tweaked release dates for some other upcoming projects. First, the Momoa-starring DC live-action film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been pushed forward by five days, now releasing on December 20 in theatres worldwide. In doing so, it’s swapping places with the Colman Domingo-led (Euphoria) The Color Purple, a likely awards contender, that’ll now drop on Christmas Day. Aquaman 2 is expected to offer more world-building in the submerged kingdom of Atlantis, with Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Amber Heard reprising their roles. James Wan will return to direct the sequel, which might also feature a small appearance from Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne.

Meanwhile, The Wizard of Oz animated film Toto has been removed from Warner Bros.’ calendar, as the Robert De Niro-led (The Irishman) The Wise Guys steals its spot, now slated to release on February 2024. As per Deadline, an untitled DC Comics movie was taking up a slot on September 22, though it has now been scrubbed from the schedule.

The Jason Momoa-led Minecraft movie is now slated to release on April 4, 2025.

The Wolf Among Us 2 Delayed Out of 2023 to Avoid Crunch and Burnout, Telltale Confirms

The Wolf Among Us 2 has been delayed out of 2023, developer Telltale confirmed in a tweet. In a related interview with IGN, CEO Jamie Ottilie attributed the delay to an effort in avoiding burnout and crunch. Furthermore, the studio wants to avoid releasing an unfinished game as it shifts development from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. The sequel to the beloved episodic narrative based on Vertigo’s Fables series of graphic novels was announced back at The Game Awards 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic raised a bunch of challenges for the newly formed company.

For the uninitiated, the original Telltale Games filed for bankruptcy in 2018, leading to massive layoffs and cancellation of any planned releases — one of them being The Wolf Among Us 2. However, in 2019, LCG Entertainment acquired Telltale’s assets and re-launched the company, functioning under some industry veterans and previous developers who worked on acclaimed titles such as The Walking Dead and Batman: The Telltale Series. But even as the studio announced its highly-anticipated project, the development team was in its infancy, needing roughly two years for it to be fully staffed. In the interview, Ottilie admitted that announcing the title in 2019 seemed like the right choice, as it would help them secure funding and support. For the record, that brief teaser was made entirely from scratch. But looking back at the decision, he regrets it, as the pandemic slowed down development and hiring.

Moreover, Telltale recently made the decision to switch over to Unreal Engine 5. Ottilie stated that the developers and artists, who had been working on Unreal Engine 4 for years, felt that the newer features “are worth the effort.” Of course, this means reworking a good chunk of the game, leaving the team with two options — either release an unfinished game or force crunch onto its staff. Ottilie opted for neither, and instead, pushed the game out of the 2023 release window.

“I’ve done [crunch], and I don’t want to do it again, and it’s not fair to ask it,” Ottilie said in the interview. “You can’t plan a business around it. So yeah, part of it is about maintaining a healthy work culture. We don’t want to burn out our good people. It has been incredibly difficult to recruit the last two years between COVID and the labour markets and the growth in the games industry.” The Wolf Among Us 2 is being developed with assistance from AdHoc Studio, which consists of former Telltale Games’ employees.

As a prequel to the Fables graphic novels, The Wolf Among Us 2 is set six months after the events of the first game, with protagonist Bigby Wolf now leading an investigation into a new mystery — presumably involving Tin-Man and Scarecrow from ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ The new chapter is set in a wintry New York cast in snow, with a new administration in motion, spearheaded by Snow White. Last year, the developers released a trailer, confirming that The Wolf Among Us 2 will intertwine the world and events of the Mundies (humans) and Fables (fairy tale characters).

Similar to past Telltale Games entries, this game will be released in an episodic format (5 episodes), but will only begin rolling out once they’re all ready. This prevents issues seen with the older Telltale regime, where players had to wait for months — until the development finished — to gain access to each new episode. Through this new development format, however, all episodes should drop at a steady pace. With all that said, the studio still has The Expanse: A Telltale Series slated for release this year — created in collaboration with Nine Deck Games.

The Wolf Among Us 2 will now release sometime in 2024.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods New Trailer: Zachary Levi Considers Giving Up His Superpowers

Shazam! Fury of the Gods just got a new trailer. After a brief showing at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. has dropped new footage which gives away important plot beats — a lot of it — that, in a manner, could mark the end or the beginning of the next chapter in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The trailer, available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, feels overstuffed. Originally slated to release in April 2022, the sequel suffered multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, eventually settling for a March 17, 2023, date. David F. Sandberg returns to direct, of course.

The trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods opens with a voiceover, as Kalypso (Lucy Liu), the second daughter of Atlas, sows a seed into the middle of a baseball stadium. The seed births a gigantic tree, whose roots and branches spread out into the city, destroying everything in its path. “We are at war. We will annihilate everything,” the ill-intentioned oldest daughter Hespera (Helen Mirren) warns Shazam! (Zachary Levi), at a local eatery. “The champions of this realm can do nothing to stop us.” The Shazam! 2 trailer then confirms it has been a “few years” since the young Billy Batson (Asher Angel) received superpowers in the original 2019 film, which was then distributed among his foster siblings, who’ve established themselves as the rightful protectors of the city.

The casting only sees one change — Grace Fulton is returning as Mary Bromfield/ Mary Marvel, albeit this time, she will be playing both the academically-driven sister and the adult superhero form. Previously, the latter, older version was portrayed by Michelle Brothe. Not sure how the film will handle the secret identity side of things. Hopefully, no glasses.

The Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer then delves into exposition territory, establishing why the Daughters of Atlas have decided to hunt our heroes. “Children stole the power of the gods,” Hespera explains, while taking physically disabled foster brother Frederick Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) as a hostage. “You ripped it from our father’s core.” The trailer then cuts into a montage of action sequences, with Shazam! charging headfirst into the dragon Kalypso is riding on — which he happens to call “Khaleesi.” A Game of Thrones reference? Rachel Zegler’s Anthea, the third daughter of Atlas, makes an appearance much later in the Shazam! 2 trailer and can be seen casting a spell.

“I don’t know how we fight powers like this,” Bromfield says, as the entire city gets enveloped in a blue, dome-like shield. At this point, the Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailer presents the big wager, with Batson wanting his powers taken away, in hopes of saving the city and his beloved foster brother. “I spent millennia searching for a worthy champion,” The Wizard (Djimon Hounsou) says. “You know exactly what must be done.” The trailer ends with some shots from the final confrontation, which sees Shazam! fighting the aforementioned dragon, as a group of unicorns and other mythical creatures take over the city. As I said before, it is overstuffed and pretty much gives away the entire movie.

Deemed as a quality product by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, as he was planning to chart out a new future for the DCEU, it’s clear that Shazam! Fury of the Gods will no longer include Black Adam in the fold. New DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran decided against a Black Adam sequel, which essentially cancels the universe’s interconnectivity that star Dwayne Johnson had planned.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods strikes theatres worldwide on March 17.

The Batman Director Matt Reeves to Meet With James Gunn to Discuss BatVerse Future: Report

The Batman director Matt Reeves has an upcoming meeting with new DC Studio co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. As per a new report, the filmmaker celebrated Cloverfield’s 15-year anniversary and confirmed that his BatVerse will be developed parallel with the new DC Universe. The conversation comes in the wake of the DC Comics brand getting a ‘reset’, with the new bosses still mapping out a 10-year-long plan for an intertwined storyline akin to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The idea of the meeting is to go over long-term storyline plans from either party and ensure they don’t conflict with each other.

“We’re actually supposed to meet in the next few weeks because they want to talk to me about the broad plan, and then they want to hear the BatVerse plan. We’re just getting together to talk about all of that,” Reeves said, as per a Collider report. “Look, I’m excited to hear what they’re going to do. The BatVerse thing, as James has said, and as Peter has said, is kind of its own thing they’re letting us do.” Reeves kicked off his The Batman universe last year with Robert Pattinson in the starring role, which earned critical acclaim and grossed $770.8 million (about Rs. 6,275 crore) at the global box office. It currently sits at the seventh position among the highest-grossing films of 2022.

When Gunn and Safran came on board as new heads, and made tough calls for a unified DC story, fans were worried about Reeves’ vision getting meddled with. Gunn also recently confirmed that he had been working on a script focusing on a younger version of Superman — not an origin story — though there’s no word on who will direct it. According to Variety, the pair is expected to present their 10-year plan — spanning movies, shoes, animation, and video games — to Warner Bros. Discovery executives, later this month. Those plans, for now, do not include a Black Adam sequel either.

It is possible that Gunn and Safran would adopt DC Comics’ Elseworlds strategy, which relies on alternate realities that run separately from the main arc. “I had this dream for the way I wanted that to play out and that’s part of what I’m going to be talking to them about in a few weeks,” Reeves added. “They’re going to be talking to me about what they’re doing in their 10-year plan or certainly what’s in the near future as well so that we can understand that we’re not — it’s air traffic control — we don’t want to be crashing into each other.”

Reeves, who is currently deep into writing The Batman sequel has also confirmed that the film will continue to focus on Bruce Wayne’s arc instead of its outlandish rogue’s gallery. “[…] a lot of times what happens is, after you do the first one, then suddenly other Rogues Gallery characters come in, and they kind of take over, and then Batman takes a backseat sort of character-wise, or emotionally,” he explained.

Previous reports confirmed that the director is looking to expand on the villains via spin-off stories, with characters ranging from Scarecrow, Clayface, and Professor Pyg, as a means to build out a larger universe. The first of them is the Colin Farrell-led Penguin spin-off series, which will soon begin filming. Reeves pointed out that the series will be ‘tightly connected’ to the theatrical release, presumably functioning as a foundation for The Batman sequel. “There’s actually a whole little fabric of things we’re wanting to do, the way we’re doing with [the] Penguin and how that comes back into how that will lead into the sequel, and what that sequel is going to be,” Reeves said.

The Batman is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson has revealed that Warner Bros. did not want Henry Cavill back as Superman. Now that Black Adam and the Justice Society of America (JSA) have been introduced to the public, Johnson intends to start building out the DC Universe “properly, strategically, smartly.” “Again, the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe has changed,” he said, referring to the newly appointed co-heads at the brand-new DC Studios, filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler has credited Aquaman for paving the way for Namor’s introduction. The director recently discussed in an interview how the creative team at Marvel aimed to distinguish their underwater antihero from DC Comics’ god-like counterpart, trying to understand what the superhero fanbase might respond to. “I do think that having Aquaman out in the world, in film language, and being successful in the marketplace, I think it was a great bit of indirect guidance for us to lean into the things that made Namor different from Aquaman,” he said.

For starters, the latter is an antihero, sporting winged ankles and separated by two worlds — the surface and underwater — adding an extra level of inner conflict. “He has to be very confident and dangerous,” Coogler explained. “It’s always interesting. He has to be charismatic. Namor, in the comics, is very romantic. He hits on other people’s wives, you know what I’m saying?”

However, adding a romantic flair to the character would mess with the tonal aspects of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which to an extent, serves as a sentimental tribute to the late lead from the original 2018 film, Chadwick Boseman. In this case, a key theme was cultural specificity, as the kingdoms of Talokan and Wakanda clash with each other. “The grey area comes about: this idea of a family drama mixed with a geopolitical thriller, mixed with a little bit of crime film,” Coogler added. “Through the story of him and his mom, and her life and her death, impacted his view of the world. That gave us the other element of Namor in the publishing, its extreme xenophobia.”

Released in 2018, Aquaman also presented Arthur Curry (Momoa) with a charming, goofy-ish personality, whereas Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Namor was fuelled by rage, growing up with a hatred for surface dwellers and anticipating an attack from the fictional East African realm at any given second.

It is also worth mentioning that canonically, the Sub-Mariner’s kingdom in Marvel comics is called Atlantis as well, akin to DC Comics’ version. But, the MCU Phase Four film rebranded it to Talokan, a name likely derived from “Tlālōcān,” described as an Aztec paradise ruled by rain deity Tlāloc. The moniker change allowed Coogler to connect Namor to Mesoamerica mythology, creating a richer sense of world-building whilst avoiding any parallels with Aquaman’s Atlantis.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever clawed its way to an impressive $330 million (about Rs. 2,700 crore) at the global box office, climbing the ranks as the second-biggest theatrical opening this year. The $250 million production faced a few hurdles, ranging from on-set injury, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the demise of lead Boseman, triggering a rewrite of the movie script.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now showing in Indian theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
