Dead Space Remake Gameplay Trailer Showcases a Talking Isaac Clark, Overhauled Visuals

Dead Space remake just got a gameplay trailer. Following a tense YouTube countdown, EA Motive finally premiered raw footage for the upcoming space-set survival-horror game — and it’s as haunting as you first remember it from 2008. Built completely from the ground up, the remake revisits the claustrophobic confines of the USG Ishimura ship, as players step into the shoes of the beloved alien hunting engineer, Isaac Clark. Dead Space remake launches January 27, 2023, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. There’s no word on a last-gen console release.

A distress call kicks off the Dead Space remake gameplay trailer, tasking Clark with getting the mining ship USG Ishimura back online. “Fix the centrifuge. Get the fuel running,” says an unidentified voice over the radio. While a quick repair job is expected, something more sinister appears to be affecting the ship — the engines, hull, and trams have been completely destroyed. The Dead Space trailer then flashes into a montage, highlighting the overwhelmed medical department, whose members now seem to be possessed by a foreign parasite, banging their heads against a wall, losing consciousness, and afflicted by seizures.

To a novice, the Dead Space remake trailer might look like it’s drawing heavy parallels to the upcoming The Callisto Protocol game — thanks to its gritty nature and the bloody survival tips smeared onto walls. But in reality, the original 2008 game was helmed by Glen Schofield, who now leads development on the latter. This means that there are no stolen concepts or odd conspiracies. The Dead Space remake trailer then cuts to show the horrors of an alien invasion — piles of dead bodies, bloody handprints, and an echoing silence that adds to the tension.

We are then treated to a first look at the Necromorph, sporting sharp claws the length of a walking cane, that drops down when Clark least suspects it. As one of the bloody tips from earlier suggested, shooting the creature’s limbs is the best way to slow them down, reducing them to zombie-like creatures that are forced to crawl around on the floor. There are also glimpses of varying forms of combat, as Clark curb stomps Necromorphs, sets them ablaze, and electrocutes them into tiny pieces of grotesque flesh. Also, did I mention that our protagonist is no longer silent?

In its latest developer blog post, EA Motive spoke about Dead Space remake’s presentation, stressing the camera aspect, which draws inspiration from 2018’s God of War. The entire game is touted to play as a single scene, featuring zero cuts, upping the fear aspect to another level. Furthermore, the remake will try modernising the story, with bits of lore picked up from Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3, in addition to details from the comic books.

Dead Space remake launches January 27, 2023, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. Pre-orders are now live across all platforms.

FIFA 23 India Prices for PlayStation, Xbox Tipped to Be Hiked by EA, Standard Edition to Be Affected

FIFA 23 will launch worldwide on September 23 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC, and Stadia. The game is available to pre-order via the official channels as well. Now, a reliable tipster is claiming that the publisher EA Sports and its India distributor E-xpress have hiked the prices of FIFA 23 in the country. It is believed that only PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game will be affected by this supposed increase in pricing.

According to tipster 0xSkeptic (@RishiAlwani), the cost of the FIFA 23 Standard Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X will be increased to Rs. 4,799 from Rs. 4,499. Similarly, this version could cost Rs. 4,299 instead of Rs. 3,999 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Alwani speculates that EA might have taken this step due to foreign currency fluctuations.

At the time of publishing this story, FIFA 23 Standard Edition is still available on Xbox and PlayStation for the original pricing. However, the tipster suggests that they may change soon.

FIFA 23’s pricing in India recently caused a buzz when Epic Games accidentally listed the game for Rs. 4.8 on its online store. Early birds were able to snag the game for this price instead of the Rs. 4,799 normal ask. However, no other platform experienced this error, including Steam.

Epic Games eventually corrected the error. EA Sports then sent out a series of emails to apologise for the error. Furthermore, it assured those early buyers that they will be able to keep the copy.

FIFA 23 will be the last game in the decades-spanning franchise and will be called EA Sports FC from next year as it debuts women’s leagues in the franchise for the first time. The game brings several new features like the upgraded HyperMotion2 technology, women’s leagues, and more.

FIFA 23 comes out on September 23 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

The Sims 4 Update Is Causing Rapid Ageing and Incestual Relationships

The Sims 4 introduced a free update this week, which is reportedly causing super-fast ageing and incestual relationships. The news comes from a PC Gamer report, which suggests that the latest patch was shipped with a bug, ahead of the High School Years expansion launch. The download was intended to bring back notable features from Sims 3, including curved walls, body hair, and new fears and wants. EA-owned developer Maxis has acknowledged the glitch and is working towards a solution.

Reports from The Sims 4 community website that the rapid ageing bug is only affecting those who use the “short” or “long” lifespan options for their Sims. Those checking the “normal” category seem to be unaffected by this glitch. One individual on Twitter claims that their entire Sims household ages within minutes. “Kids are teens and young adults are almost elders. None of their birthdays was coming up. What can I do to fix this?” reads the tweet.

Meanwhile, on Reddit, another player opened up about their experience with the new Sims 4 update. The attached screenshot reveals an older woman who suddenly wanted to start a relationship with her son. This bug came with the newly added Wants feature, which prompts Sims with certain goals or things they wish to do. The system was available in past Sims games and is now causing characters to chase after a family member. A post on the EA bug support thread reads, “The new Wants system has given my sim the ‘want’ to ask his twin sister to be his girlfriend.”

A Sims developer has acknowledged these reports on Twitter saying, “I just wanted to acknowledge that the Want to date a family member is something we know about, we’ve reproduced ourselves, we’re working on it.” The official Sims Twitter handle also addressed the situation by asking players to temporarily play with the “normal” lifespan option on, and creating new saves as they work towards a solution.

This new update comes with the High School Years expansion pack, which adds new decorations, experiences, in-person classes and teachers, and a lot more to Sims 4. The update also included the ability to pick a sexual orientation via a toggle. These parameters can be accessed right at the beginning, when the player creates their virtual character. You could cycle between genders, romantic attractions, and what gender you would like to explore casual sex with.

The Sims 4 High School Years expansion pack is now available across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Xbox One.

FIFA 22 Is Coming to EA Play, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on June 23

FIFA 22 is coming to the Play List later this month, Electronic Arts announced on Tuesday. EA’s latest entry its popular FIFA series will be available at no extra cost with an EA Play or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. FIFA 22 is the last of EA Sports’ titles from 2021 — including F1 2021, Madden NFL 22, and NHL 22 — to become part of the Play List. Meanwhile, the publisher also announced recurring member-only benefits for subscribers while playing FIFA 22.

In a post on Microsoft’s Xbox blog, EA revealed on Tuesday that FIFA 22 is coming to the Play List on June 23. EA’s Play List includes a list of several popular titles including It Takes Two, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Star Wars: Squadrons, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, as well as other 2021 EA Sports titles such as F1 2021, Madden NFL 22, and NHL 22.

EA Play, which is included as part of an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, will offer member-only challenges and in-game rewards on FIFA 22 later this month, according to the publisher. These rewards include Volta Apparel, coins, Ultimate Team Seasonal XP Boosts, and Stadium Sets. Members also have access to 10 hours of free playtime for new releases, and can purchase EA digital content at a 10 percent discount.

FIFA 22 Review: More Arcade Than Ever

Last month, EA announced that FIFA 23 would be the last FIFA-branded game from EA Sports — following titles will switch to EA Sports FC from next year. EA parted ways with world football governing body FIFA which it had partnered with nearly three-decades ago, after they failed to strike a new licensing deal. The first EA Sports FC title after FIFA 23 will be unable to include FIFA-specific content such as the World Cup.

EA also began testing cross-play — also known as cross-platform play support — for multiplayer matches for current generation consoles last month. This means that gamers on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Google Stadia can play Online Seasons and Online Friendlies modes with others across these devices. EA Sports could be working on adding support for cross-play on other game modes for the upcoming FIFA 23 title, which expected to release later this year.

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — including EA Play, Xbox Live Gold/ Xbox network, as well as game streaming in select markets — is priced at Rs. 499 per month, or Rs. 5,999 per year on PC and console in India. EA Play is priced at Rs. 315 a month, or Rs. 1,990 a year, while EA Play Pro is priced at Rs. 999 a month, and Rs. 6,499 a year. Gamers can subscribe via the EA App, stores for PlayStation and Xbox, and Steam.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Confirmed as the Next Entry in the Series by BioWare

BioWare has revealed the title for its upcoming addition to the fantasy RPG franchise that began with Dragon Age: Origins back in 2009. The new entry is called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, deriving its name from the character of Solas who will also serve as the main antagonist for this game. Solas, the Dreadwolf, was introduced as a companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition. He was later revealed to be the overarching villain of the games in the Trespasser DLC for Inquisition.

In its official blog post, BioWare has delved into the mythos of Solas. Hinted to be an ancient elven god in the games, Solas’ betrayal is believed to be the primary reason for the downfall of modern elves. He has earned a reputation as a “trickster deity.” However, the developer suggests that new players will not be required to have played the previous Dragon Age games to enjoy this title. Previously, the developer had released a teaser trailer for the game during the 2020 Game Awards that had hinted at the return of Solas, the Dreadwolf.

A past report had suggested that the Dragon Age 4, now confirmed to be called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, would be a live service game, which might result in it being an always-online title. However, the abysmal performance of Anthem, another live service game developed by BioWare under EA, might have forced its hand to reevaluate these plans. So far, the developer has kept the details regarding this game under wraps.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will not be out this year, however, Bioware will share more information later in 2022.

Apex Legends Mobile Release Date Set For May 17 on Android and iPhone

Apex Legends Mobile — after months of spending time in the rumour mill — gets a global launch date of May 17. It will be available on both Android and iOS. Electronic Arts’ popular battle royale game is finally getting a mobile port, over a year after pre-registration was opened for Android devices. According to Respawn, Apex Legends Mobile has been specifically designed for smartphones, and the game is said to have smartphone-friendly controls as well as optimisations which is said to make it one of the most advanced battle royale combat games available for a tablet or phone.

EA also shared a trailer for Apex Legends Mobile that features legends such as Wraith, Mirage, Caustic, and others. The Apex Legend Mobile trailer also gives us a quick look at the control layouts that have been optimised for mobile devices. Game modes such as ‘Mini-Royale’ and ‘Team Deathmatch’ can also be accessed. Apex Legends Mobile will also feature mobile-first legends that will have their own storylines.

Just as on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Apex Legends will be a free-to-play title on mobile and will include in-game purchases. Apex Legends Mobile will not feature crossplay for console or PC versions of the game — giving it a smartphone-only launch similar to BGMI and New State Mobile — though players on Android and iOS can play with each other.

According to EA’s official website, Apex Legends Mobile will feature mobile-first adaptations and innovations with new legends, maps, and gameplay, modes, progressions, and live events that constantly expand the gameplay variety to keep the experience fresh and new every season. It also mentions that you will get to choose from a growing cast of beloved legends with unique abilities and personalities to fit an array of play styles.

Apex Legends Mobile will reward players that have pre-registered for the game. These include the Teeth Cutter – Epic R99 Skin, Molten Earth-Epic Skin for Bloodhound, Fateful Games-Banner Frame, and On Target-Banner Pose. EA has also opened up more pre-registration rewards which include a ‘’Become Legendary Holospray” and a ‘’Sunfire Initiate – Legendary skin” for Pathfinder at 15 million and 25 million users, respectively. At the time of writing, the count was at 14 million users.

In other news, Apex Legends season 13 “Saviors” for PC and gaming consoles will kick off on Tuesday, May 10. The upcoming season will introduce a new legend, Newcastle, who is Bangalore’s long presumed dead brother. Season 13 will also give Storm Point its first-ever update. Legendary skins for Fuse and Bloodhound have also been added to the Battle Pass.

Apex Legends Mobile, meanwhile, is out May 17 on Android and iOS.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 Releasing in 2023 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X: Report

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 is reportedly going to release in 2023 — exclusively for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. Furthermore, the sequel might ditch the Fallen Order name from its title. Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment were previously expected to release the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in October this year. This reported delay might have stemmed from the developer’s rumoured intent to release the sequel solely on next-generation consoles.

This alleged information comes from the latest episode of GrubbSnax, hosted by VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb. As previously mentioned, he claims that EA and Respawn Entertainment have decided to push the release date of the sequel to the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to 2023. The exclusion of the PS4 and Xbox One consoles is expected to free up the dev team to “do something that feels new.”

According to Grubb, EA might officially reveal this game at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration event, which will be held at the Anaheim Convention Centre between May 26 and May 29.

Back in January, EA had announced that it is teaming with Lucasfilm Games to release three Star Wars games. The development of two of these games is being handled directly by Respawn. One of these is the rumoured Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 which is being headed by Stig Asmussen, who also directed the first Fallen Order game.

There is also a new Star Wars first-person shooter in the works under Peter Hirschmann of the Star Wars Battlefront fame. The third one is a strategy game being developed in collaboration with the newly founded Bit Reactor studio and Greg Foerstch. Foerstch has done notable art and design work for Firaxis Games for Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, Alien Crossfire, Civilization III, and more.

That’s not all. With Lucasfilm ending the EA exclusivity, there are more Star Wars games in the works. Ubisoft-owned Massive Entertainment, developers of The Division, are making an open-world Star Wars game. Aspyr is handling a remake of Knights of the Old Republic for PC and PS5 (a timed console exclusive). Quantic Dream is developing the action-adventure Star Wars Eclipse that will feature multiple playable characters. And lastly, Skydance New Media and Amy Hennig are leading another game.

F1 22 Announced, Releasing July 1; to Feature VR Support on PC, Updated Gameplay, More

F1 22 — the official game for the ongoing 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship — will be released on July 1, Electronic Arts announced on Thursday. The successor to F1 2021 will let players race in the latest season with redesigned cars, updated rules, and gameplay options. Gamers will also be able to test out the new Miami International Autodrome. The PC version of the game also comes with VR compatibility, but there’s no word from EA on whether F1 22 will come with PSVR support.

In an announcement posted to the official website on Thursday, EA revealed that F1 22 will be released July 1 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and on PC via the EA App, Origin, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Gamers who pre-order the F1 22 Champions Edition will be able to access the game three days earlier — on June 28.

As part of the updated gameplay coming to F1 22, gamers will be able to customise formation laps, safety car periods, and pit stops. This year, EA has also added F1 sprint races. Gamers will have access to the new Miami International Autodrome with 19 corners, along with new cars and a revamped handling model, according to EA.

Unlike previous releases — including F1 2021 — the upcoming F1 22 title will offer VR compatibility for immersive gameplay on PC, via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. As previously mentioned, EA is yet to reveal whether the game will come with PSVR support. Meanwhile, gamers will also be able to access My Team and Career Mode with two-player split screen and online multiplayer, as well as a new hub called F1 Life, where they can show off supercars, clothing, and accessories unlocked while playing the game.

The game is available to pre-order at Rs. 2,999 for PC, Rs. 4,499 and Rs. 3,999 for PS5 and PS4 on the PlayStation Store, and Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 3,999 for the Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One, respectively. The F1 22 Champions Edition is priced at Rs. 4,299 for PC, Rs. 5,499 on the Xbox Store, and Rs. 5,299 on the PlayStation Store.

Pre-ordering the game before May 16 will also grant gamers access to Miami-themed content including livery, suit, helmet, gloves, a cap, t-shirt and wall art designed by a local artist. Meanwhile, the F1 22 Champions Edition will grant access to the game three days before the release date along with F1 22 New Era content, a F1 Life Starter Pack, new My Team Icons, and 18,000 PitCoin, according to EA.

On PC and consoles, you can get limited-time access to F1 22 with the EA Play subscription that costs Rs. 315 per month in India. Alternatively, you can get full unlimited access to the game on PC with the EA Play Pro subscription that comes in at Rs. 999 per month in India. EA Play also offers early access.

F1 22 — now using the same truncated year-styling like EA’s other annual games, following Codemasters’ acquisition — is out July 1 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. It can be played in VR with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
