Here’s why Julia Roberts turned down rom-com movies for 20 years; Find out

 

Julia Roberts explains that this year’s Ticket to Paradise is her first romantic comedy in 20 years since none of the rom-com screenplays that came across her desk before were fascinating enough for her to appear in.

Roberts has a slew of future projects, many of which are hard-hitting dramas like the ones she’s been working on primarily for the previous two decades. She will be featured in Gaslit, a Starz mini-series on the Watergate affair, beginning this weekend. However, her forthcoming film Ticket to Paradise, in which she will co-star with George Clooney, will return her to her romantic comedy origins. Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) wrote and directed the film, which follows the tale of a young lady who goes to Bali on a post-graduation holiday and unexpectedly chooses to marry a local.

However, in a recent New York Times Magazine interview, Roberts said that it has taken her so long to feature in another romantic comedy because she hasn’t come across any outstanding screenplays in the last 20 years. She is also more selective about which projects she will sign on to now that she has three children. Roberts said as per Screenrant, “Here’s the thing: If I’d thought something was good enough, I would have done it. But I also had three kids in the last 18 years. That raises the bar even more because then it’s not only Is this material good? It’s also the math equation of my husband’s work schedule and the kids’ school schedule and summer vacation. It’s not just, Oh, I think I want to do this. I have a sense of great pride in being home with my family and considering myself a homemaker.” 

Meanwhile, if everything goes well with Ticket to Paradise, Roberts will hopefully continue to take more comedy parts that her fans like seeing her in. Perhaps she’ll re-team with any of her former co-stars, such as Dermot Mulroney or Hugh Grant. Given how picky Roberts is, it seems like any project she agrees on will be worth seeing.

Stranger Things: Millie Bobby Brown teases that season 4 will see her character ‘in the darkest state ever’

 

Stranger Things actor Millie Bobby Brown has said that season 4 of Netflix’s smash supernatural horror series would see her character Eleven reach her darkest point yet. Stranger Things is set in the fictitious town of Hawkins, Indiana, and follows the adventures of a group of teenage friends as they try to explain what’s going on in their town.

However, Stranger Things 4 takes place six months after the epic season 3 finale, which witnessed the demolition of the secret Russian base in Hawkins’ mall, which attempted to establish a link to the Upside Down, and the alleged death of police chief Hopper (Harbour). An early season 4 teaser revealed that Hopper is still alive and would be shown fighting to survive his strange confinement in a Russian work camp in Kamchatka. 

Trailers and marketing for the forthcoming season have also stated that spectators would get to watch how the younger protagonists navigate high school while coping with the emotional aftermath of the previous six months and fighting a battle against Vecna, a new danger from the Upside Down. Interestingly, Brown has now revealed a bit more about what fans can anticipate from Eleven in the new season, and it seems that the telekinetic heroine is going to have a particularly difficult time. Millie said as per Screenrant, “I read the script and I see Finn and some of the other characters having such a fun time, and you get to see Eleven in the darkest state she’s ever been [in]. This is definitely the hardest season I’ve ever filmed and there have been some of the scariest things I’ve ever seen as a human, which you guys will get to see and I’ll get to tell more stories and touch on my experiences as a person filming on the set with these legitimate scary things.”

The claim that Eleven will be at her “darkest state” in season 4 will almost certainly spark conjecture about how far this will affect the supernatural happenings around her and her pals as they face yet another villain from the Upside Down. Stranger Things Season 4 premieres on May 27, so fans won’t have to wait long to see how Eleven handles her emotional issues while dealing with her inter-dimensional ones.

Shah Rukh Khan left millions of fans pleasantly surprised as he announced his next film with Rajkummar Hirani titled ‘Dunki’. This will be the first time the ace filmmaker and SRK will be collaborating on a project. A few hours back, SRK took to his social media space, and dropped the announcement with a fun video, where Hirani tells the actor that he has a film with comedy, emotions, and romance for him in mind. It has only been some time since the announcement, but fans have already started pouring in their love and excitement for the movie.

Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022, aged 92. The ‘Queen of Melody’ was laid to rest at Shivaji Park, Mumbai with full state honours. Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on January 8 after she tested positive for COVID-19. She passed away after her health condition deteriorated. Referred to as Bollywood’s nightingale, the veteran singer became India’s most celebrated artist as she lent her voice for over 30,000 songs in various languages in a career that spanned over seven decades. The singer was recognised for her singing talent not only in India but also on an international level.

In the past episode of the show, Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur had graced the show. They went to the show for the promotion of their movie, Jersey.

London Files Ep 1,2 Review: Arjun Rampal-Purab Kohli’s homicide drama weaves riveting tale of crime & politics

Crime thrillers can easily be dubbed as the undisputed favourite genre in the world of web series. Joining the several thrillers on the digital platform is Voot’s new offering, London files, directed by Sachin Pathak. This six-part show stars Arjun Rampal, and Purab Kohli in the leads, with Gopal Datt, Sapna Pabbi, Medha Rana, Sagar Arya, and Eva Jane Willis in pivotal roles. Produced by Jar Pictures, the show will start streaming on the OTT platform from 21st April.

The narrative is based in London. Arjun Rampal is seen essaying the role of a homicide detective named Om Singh who is tasked with solving the case of a missing college girl, Maya Roy (Medha Rana), daughter of media mogul Amar Roy, played by Purab Kohli. An addict and paranoid, Om sets out to investigate the case and is trapped in a play of secrets, lies and discoveries, which somehow connect with the traumatic history of his family. While Roy becomes a suspect in his own daughter’s case, things get trickier between him and Singh.

For starters, director Sachin Pathak and writer Prateek Payodhi’s crime thriller gets points for opting to base its story within a larger context with political undertones that have relevance in the current international and national politics too. In this regard, the series cuts away from other shows in the same genre.

The episodes are spread out with an average runtime of about 35 minutes, which allows for a steady pace, and contributes to keeping the interest of the viewer alive for what’s about to come. The continuous jumps to the past and present events are efficiently used as a tactic to unfold the happenings from different perspectives, all the while teasing one’s curiosity to know how all the dots would connect in the end.

Talking about performances, both Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli dish out decent and satisfactory acts. It is pleasant to watch these actors, who have been around for some time now, get the opportunity to play roles different in tonality than what the audience is used to seeing them in.

While both Rampal and Kohli play fathers who are deeply caught up in an emotional and political labyrinth involving their children, they are starkly different. Their acting is believable, but it does not bring out strong and extreme emotions of any shade neither sympathy, disgust, sadness, nor anger. In the first two episodes that I watched, there was not any particular character I wanted to root for.

Newcomer Medha Rana is impressive and has a bright screen presence about her. It would definitely be exciting to see what more she can bring to the table in her future projects.

To conclude, the first two episodes of London files give viewers a quick glimpse into the deeply interconnected web of lives and crimes in the city. Although it makes one click on the next episode out of sheer curiosity, it would be interesting to see how the makers uncover and do justice to the several themes of the show in the remaining four episodes.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar: Ranveer Singh has THIS reply on being asked if he wants a boy or girl in real life; VIDEO

Ranveer Singh sent his fans into a  frenzy on Tuesday afternoon as the actor’s upcoming film’s trailer Jayeshbhai Jordaar released. The film which is a social comedy drama will see Ranveer in a never-before-seen avatar as the actor pulls off a Gujarati accent and an interesting look. 

The trailer was launched at a grand event in the city and it saw Ranveer in attendance as well as actress Shalini Pandey, director Divyang Thakkar and producer Maneesh Sharma. At the trailer launch, Ranveer also fielded several questions from the media. One such question baffled the actor as he was asked, “Real life mein beti chahte hain ya beta? (Would you want a girl or a boy in real life?)” 

Quoting a dialogue from the film, Ranveer said, “Ye to upar waale par depend karta hai. Film mein bhi ek dialogue hai, jab mandir mein jate hai to Prasaad mein seera (halwa) mile ya laddu aap le lete hai na. Jo upar wala chahega vaise hoga (This depends on God. Even in the film, there’s a dialogue which says, that whenever you go to a temple you eat whatever Prasad is given to you. So it will happen according to God’s plan).” Watch the video below:
