Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro Key Specifications Leak Online; Said to Get 120Hz Display, IP68 Rating

Google will showcase its next-generation smartphones —Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro— along with new wearables on October 4. Ahead of it, a prominent tipster has leaked the key specifications of the Pixel 8 series, leaving little to the imagination of smartphone enthusiasts. They are tipped to run on Tensor G3 SoC and get 10.5-megapixel selfie shooters along with an IP68 water resistance-rated build. The Pixel 8 is said to feature a 6.2-inch display, while the Pixel 8 Pro is said to get a 6.7-inch screen. The new source also corroborates previous leaks.

Known tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) leaked the specifications of the upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro through a comparison promo chart on X (formerly Twitter). The Pixel 8 series is expected to offer a few similarities with last year’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7a. As per the poster, the upcoming handsets will run on a new Tensor G3 chip.

The Pixel 8 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch Actua display with 120Hz refresh rate, while the pro model is said to get a 6.7-inch Super Actua screen with 120Hz refresh rate. The vanilla model is tipped to carry a dual rear camera unit, including a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with autofocus, and offer up to 8x SuperRes zoom. The Pixel 8 Pro, in contrast, is said to pack a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and another 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. Both models are said to get a new 10.5-megapixel front camera sensor.

Google’s Pixel 8 series is said to offer fast charging capabilities and is claimed to offer up to 24 hours of battery life with a single charge. They will offer in-display fingerprint sensors and support face unlock feature for biometric authentication. The Pixel 8 Pro is tipped to also include a thermometer. Like the Pixel 7 series devices, the upcoming models are also shown to have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Google Pixel 8 series hardware launch event is scheduled for October 4 at 10:00am local time (7:30pm IST). Google’s Pixel Watch 2 will also make its debut during the ‘Made by Google’ event.

Google Pixel 8 Series Renders Leak Again; Suggest Three Colour Options

Google Pixel 8 series with vanilla Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is all set to go official on October 4 at the ‘Made by Google’ event. The tech giant has shared brief teasers of forthcoming devices, offering a sneak peek into their design elements. Previous leaks and reports have already suggested some key specifications of the upcoming Pixel series smartphones. Most recently, new renders offering a glimpse into the possible design and colour options of the handsets have leaked online. They suggest three colourways for the handsets. At first glance, the readers can indicate little change to the overall design of last year’s Pixel 7 series.

MySmartPrice has leaked the renders of the upcoming Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. As per the report, the vanilla Pixel 8 will come in grey, obsidian black, and peony rose shades. The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, will be reportedly offered in black obsidian, porcelain, and sky Blue colour options.

The renders show the rear design of the Pixel 8 series with a familiar visor-style camera array. The vanilla model is seen featuring dual rear cameras while the Pixel 8 Pro shown carrying a triple camera setup arranged in the horizontal camera island. A microphone and LED flash are also placed on the camera bar. They look almost similar to the design of their predecessors — Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. The former is available in Lemongrass, Obsidian, and Snow colourways, while the Pro model comes in Obsidian, Snow, and Hazel finishes.

Google’s fall Pixel launch event kicks off on October 4 in New York at 10:00am local time (7:30 pm IST). Besides the Pixel 8 series, Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Buds Pro will also debut at the Made by Google event. The handsets are confirmed to go on pre-orders in India via Flipkart starting October 5.

The Pixel 8 series smartphones are expected to ship with Android 14 and 120Hz refresh rate displays. They are tipped to be powered by a Tensor G3 SoC. The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to pack a 4,950mAh battery with 27W wired fast charging support. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 could be backed by a 4,485mAh battery with 24W wired charging and 12W wireless charging support.

Google Pixel Tablet Image Leaks Online; Suggests Only One Model May Be Launched

Google Pixel Tablet is still under wraps, however, the rumours and speculations about the tablet keep making their way to the internet. While the device was announced by Google at its Made By Google event in October 2022, no further details have been shared by the company yet. However, images of the purported Pixel Tablet and a few key details have leaked on the internet suggesting that there will only be one model of the Android tablet. A popular tipster has leaked the key details along with a sneak peek into the upcoming tablet’s design.

As shared by software developer Kuba Wojciechowski, Google was initially working on a Pixel Tablet “tangor” (T6) with a first-generation Tensor chip and a “tangorpro” powered by Tensor G2 chipset. However, the company has reportedly cancelled the standard Pixel Tablet in favour of the Tensor G2-powered “tangorpro” (T6P). Not only this, but he also has tipped some of the key specifications and images of the purported Pixel tablet.

In another tweet, Wojciechowski shared that the “tangorpro” will have 8GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of Kioxia UFS storage as well as an FPC side fingerprint reader. Additionally, the device is tipped to come with a 2560×1600 CSoT “ppa957db2d” display with an RT4539 LED driver. He explained that the RT4539 is a 6-channel LED driver used for driving the backlight layer on LCDs. This implies that the Pixel Tablet could have an LCD display.

Further, the Pixel tablet is also speculated to feature two docks with one of them having a speaker and the other supporting charging by default. As this is the Pro model, the Pixel Tablet could end up being priced higher than your regular Android tablet.

Meanwhile, Google has also been spotted working on a new smart home device with its custom Fuchsia OS out-of-the-box. The company is said to be bringing an upcoming device with its in-house operating system; however, the name of the device is not known. The report suggests that Fuchsia developers have submitted a document explaining an upcoming project. It says that Fuchsia will gain support for JavaScript development to make it easier to manage and control a device.

Google Pixel January 2023 Updates Enables Spatial Audio Support, Head Tracking to Arrive Soon

Google has started rolling out the January 2023 update for Pixel handsets, which also includes the January 2023 Android security patch. The update is being rolled out in a phased manner over the coming weeks for Pixel devices running on Android 13. Users will receive a notification when the OTA update becomes available for eligible Pixel smartphones. This update adds Spatial Audio support to Pixel phones that enables them to offer surround sound with any supported accessories. There are also a few other general fixes included in this update.

Google announced on Wednesday that it has begun rolling out the January 2023 update for Pixel devices. This update brings Spatial Audio support to the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. This feature had previously been spotted in the Android 13 QPR1 beta update. This technology is designed to capture audio signals and apply directional filters to create an immersive soundscape. The company has revealed that it will soon roll out an update for the Pixel Buds Pro to enable Spatial Audio support with head tracking.

Spatial Audio is reportedly only supported by devices that are compatible with Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) audio. With this update, Google has fixed an issue that was “preventing certain Bluetooth Low Energy devices or accessories from pairing or reconnecting.” Another issue that was stopping audio from playing over certain headphones has also been resolved.

The January 2023 update also brings additional improvements to fingerprint recognition and response times on Pixel 6a and Pixel 7. Another error that was forcing the smartphone to go into landscape mode while being held in portrait mode has also been fixed.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have also received a couple more fixes with this update. Zoomed-in photos will no longer appear corrupted or distorted due to the included camera fix. In addition, an error that was causing the device to not wake up while being turned on has been resolved.

Google Pixel 7a Tipped To Feature Flagship Camera Sensors, Wireless Charging: Report

Pixel 7a, Google’s purported affordable “A”-tagged mid-range addition to the Pixel 7 series expected to launch in 2023, will reportedly sport a significant upgrade over every previous A-series Pixel smartphones. It has been reported that Pixel 7a will come with better cameras and wireless charging, amongst other features. Google’s first A-series Pixel, the Pixel 3a, was launched on the premise of making the flagship’s Pixel experience available on affordable device achieved by the search giant through the usage of cheaper materials. However, with every new A-series launch, the company has reduced the divide between the flagship specifications, quality, and experience.

This strategy was reflected in the Pixel 4a 5G being released by Google alongside the Pixel 5, with both phones featuring identical Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. The Pixel 4a 5G also featured a 90Hz refresh rate supporting display, water resistance, a premium metal body, and wireless charging, which helped the smartphone set itself apart in a category that did not regularly see such features. The Pixel 5a also managed to keep the retail price down while featuring a water-resistant body and metal exterior. Most notably, both the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a phones featured the same main camera sensor as their flagship counterparts.

However, the Pixel 6a did not feature the same camera sensor as the Pixel 6 with the search giant choosing to retain the camera sensors from Pixel 5a.

Google’s work on the Pixel 7a was initially confirmed by a public conversation on Android’s open-source code, which indicated that the device codenamed “Lynx” is going to be the Pixel 7a which will release in 2023.

Earlier this year, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station shared details about a Pixel device being manufactured by Foxconn in China that would use the same Tensor G2 chip as the Pixel 7 series and feature a ceramic body. This device is now being tipped to be the Pixel 7a, according to the report by 9to5google. If this were to be true, the Pixel 7a would be the first Google phone in the Pixel lineup to feature a ceramic body.

Meanwhile, according to android researcher Kuba Wojciechowski, the Lynx Pixel 7a is set to include the “P9222” chip for wireless charging. However, the aforementioned chip is only capable of 5W charging, suggesting that the wireless charging capabilities of the Pixel 7a might be more promotional than being functional.

With regards to image capturing and processing, the Pixel 7a may feature the same Samsung 50-megapixel sensor as the Pixel 6 series, in addition to a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor. This would be the first time when a telephoto sensor makes its way to the Pixel A-series. In fact, only top end “Pro” Pixel models have previously featured telephoto sensors.

Google has, however, remained silent and not revealed any information about the purported Pixel 7a model in terms of name, design, specifications, pricing, or launch details.

Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro Advertisements Leaked, New Camera Features Revealed: All Details

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro features have been leaked in new advertisements for the phones shared by a tipster. The company first revealed its upcoming handsets back at Google I/O in May, and the hardware specifications of both smartphones have been tipped on multiple occasions. The leaked ads reveal both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will feature new camera-related software functionality, including the ability to record video while blurring subjects, like Apple’s Cinematic Mode that was introduced with the iPhone 13 series.

Tipster SnoopyTech (@snoopytech) leaked two 30-second advertisements for the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro via Twitter. The video for the Pixel 7 Pro reveals a new ‘Macro Focus’ feature that is claimed to allow users to take close-up photos of objects. The advertisement also reveals familiar features found on the Pixel 6 Pro, such as Super Res Zoom, Magic Eraser, Live Translate, and the Extreme Battery Saver.

The video for the Pixel 7 reveals that the smartphone will not feature the new Macro Focus mode from the high-end model. Meanwhile it will offer the other features mentioned above, which were also found on its predecessor, the Google Pixel 6.

Both handsets will be equipped with a new ‘Cinematic Blur’ feature for a dramatic blur effect while recording videos. While the feature was only revealed in the leaked Pixel 7 video, it can be expected to feature on the high-end model. The Cinematic Blur feature sounds similar to Apple’s Cinematic Mode, which was introduced on the iPhone 13 series, and switches focus between people or objects in a video, like the effect used in popular TV shows and movies.

The leaked videos for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro both claim the ability to use the phones for up to 72 hours, via the Extreme Battery Saver mode. The feature was also available on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, and allows only select apps (along with essential phone apps and services) to run when the mode is enabled.

There’s no word on whether Google will bring the new camera features to last year’s phones, such as the Macro Focus mode for the Pixel 6 Pro, or the Cinematic Blur feature for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, via the company’s regular Pixel Feature Drops. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are scheduled to be launched on October 6, alongside the Google Pixel Watch, which is set to make its debut as the company’s first Pixel-branded wearable.

Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel Watch Launch Date Set for October 6: All Details

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro launch date has been set for October 6, the company announced on Tuesday. The company previously teased the launch of the successors to the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro at Google I/O earlier this year, and its next hardware launch event is scheduled to take place in a month in a live event. Another product teased by the firm in May, the Google Pixel Watch, will also make its debut at the upcoming Made by Google event.

In an announcement on the company’s US store on Tuesday, the company revealed that its upcoming Made by Google launch event would take place on October 6. “On October 6, 2022 at 10 am ET [7:30pm IST], we will officially introduce the latest Google Pixel device portfolio during a live event,” the landing page states.

Google has confirmed that it will launch the Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and the Google Pixel Watch at the October 6 event. The company will also announce new Nest smart home products.

While they were first revealed by the company at Google I/O in May, the company has now confirmed that the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be powered by the company’s second-generation Tensor SoCs, and will run on Android 13 out-of-the-box. Google says the new chipset will offer users helpful, personalised features for photos, videos, security, and speech recognition.

A few days ago, the Pixel 7 Pro was spotted in an unboxing video, revealing the handset in a Black colour option. This was the second time at least one model of the Google Pixel 7 models was leaked in a video online — earlier this year, YouTube channel Unbox Therapy teased what were said to be early development versions of both Pixel 7 models.

Meanwhile, the Google Pixel Watch, which was also teased in May, is also set to launch at the event. It is the first smartwatch designed and built the company and will merge the company’s software with Fitbit’s health and fitness expertise, according to Google. The smartwatch will work with all Pixel and Android smartphones and will run on the company’s new WearOS experience.

Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro Display Specifications Tipped, May Sport Same Screens as Pixel 6 Series

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro — Google’s upcoming flagship smartphones — display specifications have surfaced online, well ahead of the launch of the handsets later this year. The smartphones are tipped to feature the same displays as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro that debuted last year. The company teased its next generation handsets at the annual Google I/O developer conference earlier this month and revealed that they will be powered by an updated Tensor SoC, and will run on Android 13 out-of-the-box.

According to code in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) spotted by 9to5Google, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be equipped with the same Samsung displays as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, respectively. The display driver for the Pixel 7 which is codenamed Cheetah is tagged C10, while the driver for the Pixel 7 Pro codenamed Panther is tagged P10. Both files reveal the specifications of the upcoming handsets, according to the report.

Just like the Pixel 6, the upcoming Pixel 7 will sport a full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) display with a 90Hz refresh rate, as the code points to the use of Samsung’s S6E3FC3 panel. While the specifications of the display remain the same, the display is tipped to be slightly smaller than the Pixel 6 — with height and width lowered by 2mm and 1mm, respectively.

Meanwhile the Pixel 7 Pro will be equipped with the same QHD+ (1,440×3,120) pixels display with a 120Hz refresh rate — the same as the Pixel 6 Pro that was launched in 2021, using the same Samsung S6E3HC3 panel, according to Google’s driver code. Unlike the Pixel 7, the Pro model will offer the same screen size as its predecessor.

The drivers for the Pixel 7 Pro display also suggest that the high-end model could offer users the ability to display content in 1080p mode via a recently spotted setting on Android 13. While this will downgrade the viewing experience on the smartphone, it can help conserve battery — a feature offered on other smartphones with high-resolution displays. Meanwhile, Google is yet to officially reveal the complete specifications of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, ahead of their expected debut later this year.
