It has a triple rear camera unit, comprising a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The phone has a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It offers up to 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage and is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 100W SuperVOOC wired charging.

OnePlus Open Receiving Android 14-Based OxygenOS 14 Build in India

OnePlus Openwas launched in India in October last year as the company’s first foldable phone. The handset is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and runs Oxygen OS 13 based on Android 13. Now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is rolling out Oxygen OS 14 based on Android 14 to the OnePlus Open after extensive beta trials. The stable update brings new features including File Dock, Content Extraction, and Smart Cutout. OnePlus Open users who have participated in the beta programmes will receive the build initially.

The Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 update for the OnePlus Open in India was announced through a post on the OnePlus community forum. The update comes with the firmware version CPH2551_14.0.0.400(EX01).

The update will be first pushed to OnePlus Open users who have participated in the Closed Beta and Open Beta programmes and it will gradually roll out to the regular users. Users are advised to have at least 30 percent battery and 5GB of internal space available on their devices before installing the update.

OnePlus Open’s Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 update brings Aqua Dynamics with morphing forms for viewing up-to-date information quickly. It adds a File Dock feature with drag and drop to transfer content between apps and devices. The Content Extraction tool assists in extracting text and images from the screen with one tap, while the Smart Cutout feature lets users separate multiple subjects in a photo from the background for copying or sharing.

The OxygenOS 14 update optimises system stability and animations along with privacy improvements. It brings improvements to Shelf by adding more widget recommendations. The update brings aquamorphic design, aquamorphic-themed ringtones, and revamps the system notification sounds.

On the specifications front, the OnePlus Open has a 7.82-inch (2,268×2,440 pixels) 2K Flexi-fluid LTPO 3.0 AMOLED inner display and a 6.31-inch (1,116×2,484 pixels) 2K LTPO 3.0 Super Fluid AMOLED cover screen. It runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM.

The OnePlus Open has a Hasselblad-branded triple camera setup, comprising a 48-megapixel primary camera. It has a 20-megapixel primary selfie camera and a 32-megapixel secondary camera. It is backed by a 4,800mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC charging.

OnePlus 11 5G has started receiving the Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 stable update in India. The update brings improved Aquamorphic design, aquamorphic-themed ringtones, File Dock feature, and Smart Cutout to the OnePlus handset alongside several performance improvements. The update enhances photo and video-related permission management for safer access by apps and offers system stability improvements. The OnePlus 11 was launched in India in February this year. OnePlus recommends users ensure that their smartphone has more than 30 percent battery before starting the update process.

The update is being released in a phased manner and will reach all eligible OnePlus 11 units over the air. Users are recommended to update their devices while they are connected to a strong Wi-Fi signal and are charging.

OnePlus Pad Android 14-Based OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 1 Update Rolling Out in India

OnePlus Pad was launched in February during the company’s Cloud 11 event. The first Android tablet from OnePlus shipped with OxygenOS 13.1 based on Android 13, along with a few tablet-friendly customisations. Now, as promised, the Chinese electronic brand is rolling out the first OxygenOS 14 Open Beta for OnePlus Pad users in India. The software based on Android 14, brings several security, privacy features, performance, and design updates. OnePlus Pad units running OxygenOS 13.1 are eligible to receive the latest build. 

Through its community page, OnePlus announced the rollout of OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus Pad on Thursday (October 13). As per the post, the Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 1 is available for OnePlus Pad tablets in India.

As per the changelog shared by OnePlus, the latest update brings some of the core Android 14 features alongside the list of upgrades under OxygenOS 14. It adds improvements to the cloud photo service by Google Photos, photo and video-related permission management, and general system stability. The update will fuel performance optimisation by increasing the launch speed of apps. Further, OxygenOS 14 Open Beta adds aquamorphic-themed ringtones and revamps the system notification sounds. It also refines the system animations.

OnePlus has listed a known issue of screen flashing while switching between landscape and portrait modes with the OnePlus Pad OxygenOS 14 Open Beta update update.

If you are a OnePlus Pad user, you can apply for the Open Beta programme by heading to Settings > About device > Tap up to date > Tap icon on the top right > Beta program > Follow the steps to apply. Once the application is approved, users can get the update by heading to Settings > About device > Download Now. It is advised to update the tablet while it is connected to a strong Wi-Fi network and is charging.

To install the OxygenOS 14 Open Beta, users need to ensure that their tablet is running on OxygenOS 13.1. The battery level of the tablet should be above 30 percent and it should have a minimum of 4GB of storage space available for the download. The programme is limited to the first 5,000 users.

OnePlus Pad went on sale in India in April this year with a starting price tag of Rs. 37,999 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It features an 11.61-inch (2,000 x 2,800 pixels) LCD display with up to 144Hz refresh rate. It runs on MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 onboard storage.

OxygenOS 14 Open Beta Rollout Timeline, Android 14-Compatible OnePlus Phones Confirmed: Details

OxygenOS 14 — based on Android 14 — will debut globally on September 25, and an open beta testing programme for these updates will be available for select smartphones next month. Additionally, OnePlus 11 users in India and North America have recently been able to download OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 1, while OnePlus Nord 2T users with the Indian variant of the handset also were able to apply for the OxygenOS 14 closed beta testing. The firm has now announced the timeline for rolling out open beta updates to its other smartphones.

In a community post, OnePlus confirmed that the OxygenOS 14 Open Beta feature will roll out to the OnePlus Pad, OnePlus Nord 3 5G, OnePlus 11R 5G, OnePlus 10 Pro 5G, and OnePlus 10T 5G users in October. In the following month, the firm will extend the beta to OnePlus 10R 5G, OnePlus 9 Pro 5G, OnePlus 9 5G, OnePlus 9R 5G, OnePlus 9RT 5G, OnePlus 8T 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, OnePlus Nord N30 5G, OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, and OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite users.

Notable exceptions from the update are OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro users. The OnePlus Nord 2, Nord CE and Nord CE 2 users are also not listed to receive the update. However, OnePlus has confirmed that the Nord N20 SE will directly receive the stable version of OxygenOS 14.

With safer application access, the OxygenOS 14 Beta is expected to offer improved photo and video-related permissions management functions. It is also expected to enhance system stability, the speed at which apps launch, and the animations’ smoothness on screen. 

Employing a natural, soft, and clearer colour approach, the OxygenOS 14 beta is claimed to also enhance the skin’s ‘Aquamorphic Design’ for a more soothing colour experience. Along with redesigning the system notification sounds, the update also includes new Aquamorphic-themed ringtones. It also has a carbon monitoring AOD that shows how much less carbon emissions people produce when they choose to walk rather than drive, according to the company.
