iQoo 12 Anniversary Edition Confirmed to Launch in India Soon

iQoo 12 saw its launch in India in December 2023, a few weeks after its initial unveiling in China. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and has a 5,000mAh battery with wired fast charging support. The handset runs Android 14-based UI and features a quad-HD AMOLED display. It has a triple rear camera unit with a periscope camera and is available in two RAM and storage configurations. Now, iQoo has confirmed that it’ll launch a special Anniversary Edition of the iQoo 12 soon.

Nipun Marya, iQoo India CEO,  announced the upcoming India launch of the iQoo 12 Anniversary Edition model in a post on X (formerly Twitter). In an open letter attached to the post, the company executive stated that this is the first Anniversary Edition phone that iQoo will introduce in the country. It is to mark the completion of the firm’s four-year-old journey in India.

Neither the company nor the executive has confirmed any other details about the iQoo 12 Anniversary Edition. We do not know how it will differ from the regular iQoo 12 offering in the country. Like with many special edition handsets, one of the things that can vary is the colour option and/or finish of the rear panel. It is speculated that the upcoming variant could launch in a red colourway, similar to the Burning Way variant that was launched in China. However, since nothing official is known, readers are advised to take this speculation with a pinch of salt.

The iQoo 12 launched in India with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC alongside a dedicated Q1 chip to improve gaming performance, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage. It ships with Android 14-based FuntouchOS 14 and sports a 6.78-inch 144Hz quad-HD LTPO AMOLED display. The phone is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W FlashCharge.

For optics, the iQoo 12 carries a triple rear camera unit with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, another 50-megapixel sensor paired with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor. Offered in Alpha and Legend shades, the iQoo 12 is priced in India at Rs. 52,999 for the 12GB + 256GB option, and Rs. 57,999 for the 16GB + 512GB variant.

iQoo 12 With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 50-Megapixel Triple Rear Cameras Launched in India: Specifications, Features

iQoo 12 was launched in India on Tuesday as the first smartphone in India to be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. This handset sports a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and features a triple rear camera setup that includes a 64-megapixel telephoto camera. The iQoo 12 is equipped with a 6,010 sq. mm vapour cooling chamber that is 40 percent larger than the one on its predecessor. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with 120W FlashCharge support.

iQoo 12 price in India is set at Rs. 52,999 for the 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage configuration, while the 16GB + 256GB variant is priced at Rs. 57,999. The handset will be available at a promotional price of Rs. 49,999 that is inclusive of bank offers from HDFC or ICICI bank, according to the company. The phone will be available on Amazon India starting December 13 for those who purchased a Priority pass, whereas for others it’ll be available on December 14.  

The handset’s Alpha variant has a rear panel that is made of AG Glass, while the Legend model has a white coloured porcelain enamel glass material on the back.

The new iQoo 12 is a dual-SIM (Nano) handset that runs on Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14 out-of-the-box. The handset sports a 6.78-inch quad-HD (1,260×2,800 pixels) LTPO AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and an instant touch sampling rate of 1,200Hz. iQoo also says that the handset supports up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and 2,160Hz pulse width modulation (PWM) for optimised dimming of the display in low light scenarios.

Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip powers the iQoo 12 — it is the first phone in India to arrive with the chipmaker’s latest flagship mobile processor, accompanied by iQoo’s dedicated Q1 chip that is aimed at improving gaming performance on the phone. The handset is equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It also features a 6,010 sq. mm vapour chamber with four cooling zones for better thermal management. 

The iQoo 12 is equipped with a triple rear camera setup that comprises a 50-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.3-inch OmniVision OV50H sensor with an f/1.7 aperture; a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field-of-view and an f/2.0 aperture; and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, 100x hybrid zoom, and an f/2.6 aperture.

According to iQoo, the primary camera and telephoto camera support AI-assisted astrophotography and ‘Super Moon’ modes, respectively. The telephoto camera also supports macro photography. For selfies and video chats, the iQoo 12 is equipped with a 16-megapixel selfie camera with a wide-angle lens and an f/2.5 aperture.

Connectivity options on the iQoo 12 include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, infrared blaster, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port. The smartphone is equipped with an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, compass, and ambient colour sensor. It has an under-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

The handset is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery with 120W FlashCharge support — iQoo says it reconstructed the battery with a graphite negative electrode along with multiple cold pressing of electrode sheets, micron-scale laser etching, and using a large-pore-sized membrane for improved battery performance. The handset has an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, measures 163.2 x 75.9 x 8.1mm and weighs 203.9g, according to the company.

iQoo 12 Priority Pass Announced: Benefits Include Early Access to the Sale and a Free Vivo TWS

Chinese smartphone brand iQoo is all geared up for the launch of its latest flagship smartphone called the iQoo 12. The iQoo 12 is the successor to the iQoo 11, which was launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 59,999. Ahead of the launch of its latest flagship, iQoo has now announced a new Priority Pass for its users. The pass will get interested buyers of the upcoming iQoo 12 smartphone early access to the sale, among other things. The flagship smartphone is set to launch in India on 12 December.

iQoo’s Priority Pass can be availed between 5 December and 7 December 2023 by pre-booking the premium smartphone on Amazon or iQoo.com. iQoo claims that all interested buyers who pre-book the device will get the benefits of the Priority Pass. At the same time, the brand also mentions that Priority Passes are limited in number and will only be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Interested buyers will have to pay a refundable amount of Rs. 999 to pre-book the phone and avail of the Priority Pass. This amount will be adjusted in the final payment.

This Priority Pass comes with several benefits, some of which will be announced on launch day. For now, iQoo promises early access to order its iQoo 12 smartphone, which is a whole 24 hours before the sale. Just like its current offer with the iQoo 11 5G, the iQoo is also giving out free Vivo TWS worth Rs. 2,999 for its Priority Pass customers. Lastly, iQoo has also mentioned that its Priority Pass customers can also avail of other launch offers, which will be announced on 12 December.

The iQoo 12 is shaping up to be a rather interesting smartphone at its expected price point. This year’s model comes with plenty of upgrades over the previous model. This includes a brand-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a revamped camera system with a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom. The device will have a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and offer up to 3,000 nits of claimed peak brightness. The device will provide 120W charging using iQoo’s FlashCharge technology.

The iQoo 12, along with the iQoo 12 Pro, was launched in China on 7 November. The iQoo 12 is priced at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 45,000) for the base 12GB + 256GB variant. The iQoo 12 Pro is available at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 57,000) for the base 16GB + 256GB variant.
