iPhone SE 4 Tipped to Feature Dynamic Island, Might Offer iPhone 16-Like Design

iPhone SE 4 has been in the rumour mill for quite some time now. The affordable iPhone model has been delayed several times and is now speculated to be released sometime in 2025. Early leaks said that the device would borrow the design language of the iPhone 14 but a new rumour suggests Apple will ditch the notch on the upcoming iPhone SE’s display entirely in favour of the Dynamic Island. The Dynamic Island, which can display important notifications, debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple last year expanded the feature to all iPhone 15 models.

Tipster Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) on X claimed that the iPhone SE 4 “could have a design very similar to that of the current iPhone 16 still in development.” The upcoming handset is likely to feature a single camera instead of the double one of the iPhone 16 models. The fourth-generation model of the iPhone SE is tipped to get Dynamic Island on the display, which will house the Face ID and selfie camera. The tipster has also included a sketch to add credibility to the rumour. The handset was initially speculated to come with an iPhone 14-like design.

Further, the tipster states that the iPhone SE 4 will have dimensions similar to the iPhone XR. However, the tipster suggests considering the rumours with a pinch of salt “since it is still early to talk and have certainties about it.”

Apple introduced the Dynamic Island functionality with iPhone 14 Pro models in 2022. The pill-shaped cutout at the top of the screen offers quick access to Apple Pay transactions, low battery warnings, AirDrop transfers, Apple Maps directions, incoming phone calls, music tracks, SharePlay sessions, screen recordings and more. In 2023, Apple retained the feature on the iPhone 15 Pro, and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max, while also extending it to the ‌iPhone 15‌ and iPhone 15‌ Plus

As per past reports, the iPhone SE 4 will sport a 6.1-inch OLED panel. It is expected to come with Apple’s in-house 5G modem chip. It is expected to pack a USB Type-C port for charging.

The iPhone SE 4 is believed to see light in 2025 at the earliest. The latest iPhone SE (2022) was launched in March 2022 with a starting price tag of Rs. 43,900 for the base 64GB storage model.

iPhone SE 4 to Be Equipped With Same Battery as iPhone 14: Report

iPhone SE 4 is expected to debut in the future as the successor to the iPhone SE (2022), Apple’s most affordable iPhone. While previous “SE” models have featured the same chassis as the iPhone 8, the fourth model in the series is expected to be the first to sport a modern design. Now, a report suggests that the iPhone SE 4 will be equipped with a larger battery than its predecessors, which means it could offer battery life similar to Apple’s standard models.

A MacRumors report citing unnamed sources states that Apple is testing a battery for the fourth generation iPhone SE — internally referred to as D59 — with a battery that is identical to the one used on the iPhone 14. Apple launched five smartphone models last year — the iPhone SE (2022), the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple’s unfinished prototypes of the iPhone SE 4 have been equipped with Apple’s A2863 battery, as per the report — the iPhone 14 is equipped with the same battery. Previous teardowns of the iPhone 14 have revealed that the handset is equipped with a 3,279mAh battery, which is considerably larger than the 2,108mAh battery on the iPhone SE (2022). Apple does not usually reveal the battery capacities of its handsets.

The battery isn’t the only upgrade expected to arrive on the iPhone SE 4 — the handset will also reportedly feature the same Action button that arrived on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. A recent report suggests that Apple will equip all iPhone 16 models next year with the programmable button next year, in place of the mute switch.

Another hardware change expected to come to the iPhone SE 4 is the addition of a USB Type-C port. Apple’s next smartphone is expected to feature the modern USB connector in compliance with the EU’s common charger regulations — the iPhone 15 series became the first smartphones from the company to feature a USB Type-C port.

iPhone SE 4 to Feature Single Rear Camera, Sport Upgraded Design Based on iPhone 14 Chassis: Report

iPhone SE 4 specifications have leaked again, giving tech enthusiasts an idea of what to expect from Apple’s purported successor to the iPhone SE (2022). Apple’s third-generation midrange iPhone SE model was launched in 2022 with a modified iPhone 8 chassis, making it the only iPhone currently sold by Apple that is equipped with a Touch ID button. Its successor is tipped to sport a much more modern design, with a larger screen, a display notch, and support for Face ID.

MacRumors reports that Apple is working on an upcoming model — codenamed Ghost and internally identified as D59 — that will be launched as the iPhone SE 4. Unlike it’s predecessor, the next model in the iPhone SE series of smartphones will closely resemble Apple’s recent smartphone models, according to the publication.

The iPhone SE 4 will be housed in a slightly modified iPhone 14 chassis, according to specifications obtained by the publication from unnamed sources. Apple’s previous generation handset measures 146.7×71.5×7.8mm and weighs 172g. While the measurements of the chassis might be similar to the iPhone 14, it will reportedly be 6g lighter as the company only plans to equip the handset with a single rear camera.

Apple’s iPhone SE models are equipped with one rear camera, while the standard and Pro models feature dual and triple rear camera setups, respectively. According to the report, the iPhone SE 4 will be equipped with a 48-megapixel rear camera codenamed Portland. The rear panel could closely resemble the one on the iPhone 14, aside for the single rear camera.

Previous reports have suggested that the iPhone SE 4 will come with a feature that was introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro models this year — a dedicated Action button that replaces the company’s mute switch. The new button can also be programmed to perform other functions. Just like the iPhone 15 series of smartphones, the iPhone SE 4 is also expected to be equipped with a USB Type-C port, in order to comply with common charger regulations in the EU, India, and California.

iPhone SE 4 Leak Points to Improved Camera, A15 Bionic Chip and Face ID; Might Look Like This iPhone Model

iPhone SE 4 — expected to debut in 2025 as the successor to the iPhone SE (2022) — has been leaked online. Details of the company’s purported affordable offering have been leaked by a tipster. The fourth-generation iPhone SE model is said to be powered by Apple’s A15 Bionic chip that first debuted on the iPhone 13 series. It could also be equipped with improved cameras, support for Face ID, and a USB Type C port, just like the iPhone 15 lineup that was unveiled earlier this month.

An X (formerly known as Twitter) user Nithin Prasad recently claimed that the iPhone SE 4 will sport a LTPS OLED display that could be produced by BOE or Tianma. The size of the display is also said to be larger than the previous generation — the iPhone SE 4 will sport a 6.1-inch screen compared to the smaller 4.7-inch panel on the iPhone SE (2022), according to the user.

Prasad claims that the handset will be powered by the company’s A15 Bionic chip. This is the same chip that powered the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and the Apple TV 4K (2023). This means the iPhone SE 4 could be equipped with a slightly older chip when it debuts — unlike its predecessor, the iPhone SE (2022), which had the same chipset as the iPhone 14 models.

The iPhone SE 4 is also said to be equipped with upgraded cameras, which means that the rear camera and selfie camera could feature improved sensors or lenses. According to Prasad, the smartphone will also feature support for Face ID — Apple’s biometric authentication method that securely scans a user’s face before unlocking the device or initiating payments.

Prasad also claims that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a design that is similar to the iPhone XR that was launched by Apple in 2018. The display notch, on the other hand, will be like the one found on the iPhone 14, he claims. The handset will also be equipped with a USB Type-C port, he adds.

Last month, a tipster claimed that the iPhone SE 4 would be equipped with a USB Type-C port and feature support for Face ID along with the new Action button that arrived on this year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones. However, the previous leak suggests that the iPhone SE 4 would feature a design that is similar to the iPhone 14, which suggested that it could feature flat edges compared to its predecessor.

iPhone SE 4 Leak Hints at iPhone 14-Like Design With Face ID, USB Type-C, and Action Button

iPhone SE 4 — the fourth-generation smartphone tipped to succeed the iPhone SE (2022) — will be equipped with a USB Type-C port, according to a tipster. The Cupertino company is expected to switch the Lightning port on the purported iPhone 15 series of smartphones next month, and upcoming models are also likely to feature support for the modern USB connector. Meanwhile, the iPhone SE 4 is also tipped to feature support for Face ID and could be equipped with an Action button that is expected to make its debut on the iPhone 15 Pro this year.

According to tipster Unknownz21 (@URedditor on X) the iPhone SE 4 will look similar to the iPhone 14, which was launched last year. This suggests that the rumoured handset will be the first in the SE series of smartphones to feature Apple’s notch-based display. However, the leaker claims that just like its predecessor and every other SE model launched by the company, the fourth-generation smartphone from Apple will be equipped with a single rear camera.

Apple has previously confirmed that it will switch future iPhone models to utilise a USB Type-C port instead of the company’s proprietary Lightning port. The firm is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 series of smartphones — comprising the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max — at an event on September 12. The tipster claims that the iPhone SE 4 will also feature a USB Type-C port, which will make it the first SE-series smartphone with the modern USB port.

Previous reports suggested that the iPhone SE 4 would be equipped with a Touch ID sensor, but Unknownz21 claims that the purported handset will feature support for Face ID. The first- and second-generation iPhone SE models featured a fingerprint sensor located on the front, which also doubled as a home button. However, it seems like Apple might equip the phone with facial recognition for biometric authentication.

The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to debut with an “Action” button — similar to the one that was introduced on the Apple Watch Ultra last year — with the ability to program it to perform certain tasks or launch certain shortcuts, applications and accessibility features. According to the tipster, the iPhone SE 4 could also feature this Action button, which is expected to replace the iconic mute switch found on existing iPhone models.

Apple iPhone SE 4 Launch Pushed Back a Year to 2025: Report

iPhone SE 4 has been the subject of leaks and speculation for quite some time now. Apple was earlier expected to unveil its low-cost handset next year with an iPhone 14-like design. Now, analysts from Barclays claim that the launch of the fourth-generation iPhone SE has been delayed until 2025. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to come with an all-screen design similar to the iPhone XR. Apple launched the third iteration of its iPhone SE last year in March.

As per research notes by Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley, accessed by Macrumors, Apple will not launch its iPhone SE 4 next year. The budget handset could go official in 2025 at the earliest. The delay could be due to issues with the 5G modem. The iPhone SE 4 was expected to come with a proprietary Apple 5G modem for the first time, but the analysts contradict the rumour, saying Qualcomm would remain as Apple’s modem supplier for both iPhone SE and the iPhone 16 lineup through next year. These are in line with claims made by well-known Apple analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to take design cues from the iPhone 14 and iPhone XR. It might get a 6.1-inch OLED panel with flat edges and Face ID support.

iPhone SE models don’t follow the annual release schedule as the standard iPhone series. Apple has a history of releasing a new generation of SE devices every two years. It has so far released three generations of iPhone SE models. The first iPhone SE was introduced back in 2016.

The latest iPhone SE (2022) was launched in March last year with a starting price tag of Rs. 43,900 for the base 64GB storage model.

The outgoing iPhone SE (2022) runs on Apple’s A15 Bionic SoC. It flaunts a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and has a single 12-megapixel camera sensor at the back. For selfies and video chats, it has a 7-megapixel camera sensor at the front. It packs up to 256GB of storage. IP67 build, and a fingerprint sensor-equipped Touch ID home button for biometric authentication are the other key specifications of the iPhone SE (2022).

iPhone SE 4 Will Launch in 2025 With Custom Apple 5G Modem: Jeff Pu

Apple has restarted working on the iPhone SE 4, which was previously thought to have been paused or delayed due to low demand for mid-to-low-end iPhone models, according to a recent report. The iPhone SE 2022 was the third edition in Apple’s lineup, succeeding the iPhone SE (2020), which was released in 2020. As a result, the product was met with high anticipation upon its initial release. The iPhone SE (2022) included a number of intriguing features. Users received the most recent flagship A15 Bionic SoC, which was used by the iPhone 13 series at the time.

iPhone SE (2022) also brought 5G support to the entry-level iPhone. According to a MacRumors report citing analyst Jeff Pu, the upcoming Apple iPhone SE 4 may include a proprietary Apple 5G modem for the first time. He reportedly stated that the phone would be launched in 2025 and the modem will be made by Apple’s chip supplier TSMC in a research note with Haitong International Securities on Tuesday.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested in a recent report had suggested that the company has resumed the development of the iPhone SE 4, which is likely to feature an in-house 5G chip, developed by Apple, replacing the Qualcomm ones. Kuo did not provide a specific release date for the iPhone SE 4, but did hint that it would not be available until at least 2024.

According to Kuo, the iPhone SE 4 would have Apple’s 5G baseband chipset made using TSMC’s 4nm technology, which can currently only support Sub-6GHz. Kuo stated that the main problem is whether Apple can overcome the technological obstacles involved with mmWave and satellite connectivity.

Meanwhile, another report hinted that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 model will feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen supplied by BOE.

iPhone SE (2022) sports a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and is powered by an A15 Bionic SoC. It features a single 12-megapixel camera sensor on the back with an f/1.8 wide-angle lens and a 7-megapixel camera sensor at the front.

Apple also stated that the iPhone SE (2022)’s battery provides up to 15 hours of video playing or up to 50 hours of audio playback on a single charge. It supports wireless charging using the Qi standard. It also comes with quick 20W wired charging.

Offered in Midnight, Starlight, and (PRODUCT) RED colour options, the base 64GB model of the iPhone Se (2022) is priced at Rs. 43,900, while the 128GB is marked at Rs. 48,900, and the 256GB option is available in India at Rs. 58,900.
