Common Denies Dating Whoopi Goldberg On ‘The View’ After Teasing He Was In A Relationship With An EGOT: “I Didn’t Get A Chance To Shoot My Shot”

The View was lucky to welcome Common onto their show just one day after the rapper and actor dropped some major news about his love life.

While appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show yesterday (Jan. 22), Common seemed to confirm he was dating host Jennifer Hudson herself, sweetly saying, “this relationship, for me, is a happy place.”

Of course, when Common joined The View today, they couldn’t resist a few follow up questions. Sara Haines kicked it all off, asking, “When people talk about you, a lot of the headlines lately — I know you’ve probably noticed — people want to know what’s going on in your love life.

“You were on The Jennifer Hudson Show yesterday,” she continued. “And when Jennifer asked if you were dating anyone, you shared — you never actually named names, though — but you said, you know, there were an incredible list of attributes about your partner.

“You said she’s one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met in my life, smart, talented, had to have her own talk show, had to have an EGOT,” Haines recalled. “So, I want to get a little more specific right now: Are you dating Whoopi?”

While Common appeared nervous he’d have to dish more about his personal life to The View, he broke out into a smile at Haines’ joking suggestion as she turned and gave her co-host a knowing wink.

Whoopi Goldberg remained expressionless, unwilling to reveal if she was, in fact, dating that morning’s guest.

As the audience cheered and laughed, Haines added, “This is a safe space,” while Joy Behar egged Common on by chiming in, “Yeah, come on!” and Sunny Hostin quipped, “You can put it out right here.”

Common replied, “If the shoe fits. Well look, Whoopi does fit all those attributes. I didn’t get a chance to shoot my shot, so…”

When Goldberg finally spoke, she defended Common, telling the audience, “He’s busy, OK? Don’t start no stuff with me and Jennifer!”

Common laughed as he insisted, “It’s all love,” then struck a more serious note, telling Goldberg she is one of his “greatest inspirations” and adding, “You do so much. I just want you to know that. You look beautiful, you look wonderful.”

‘The Drew Barrymore Show’: Clive Owen Reveals Why He Felt “Out Of My Depth” When He Appeared On ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’

Working on Larry David‘s long-running (and improv-heavy) sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm can be intimidating, according to actor Clive Owen, who guest-starred on a 2020 episode.

Despite being an Academy Award-nominated actor, Owen told Drew Barrymore that he felt “out of [his] depth” when he appeared as himself in the hit series.

“I walked into a dinner scene and there was, you know, the whole group of them and I felt so out of my depth because they’re so good,” he said on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. “And they’re so good at improvising.”

When Barrymore pressed for more about the improv aspect of the show, Owen confirmed that you “don’t get a script” — just an outline of the scene.

“When they get going, you just have to sit,” he said. “I thought the safest thing to do was just be the straight guy. Do it as straight as you can. Don’t try to be funny against these heavyweights.”

Still, Owen said the experience was the “highlight” of his career, adding that he’s the “biggest fan of the show, of all the people in it, and of” David.

“He’s kind of brilliant,” he said of the show creator, actor and writer. “He’s kind of like the show.”

Curb Your Enthusiasm first premiered on HBO in October 2000. It follows the Seinfeld creator as a fictionalized version of himself — a television writer and producer living in Los Angeles. Aside from David, the sitcom also stars Cheryl Hines and Jeff Garlin — and often welcomes a number of celebrities as guest stars.

Since its inception, the series has been nominated for more than 40 Primetime Emmy Awards and won the 2002 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy.

While the show took a pause after its eighth season in 2011, it picked back up in 2017. The 12th and final season is set to premiere on Feb. 4, 2024.

Joy Behar Claims Her Feet Have “Created Foot Fetishists” While Talking About “Kinks” On ‘The View’: “I Feel That I’m Responsible”

Joy Behar could have a booming side hustle if she ever decided to sell feet pics. On this morning’s episode of The View, the longtime co-host turned heads when she bragged about her “beautiful” feet during an NSFW conversation about “fetishes” and “kinks.”

The steamy advice segment was sparked by a man whose wife banned him from massaging her feet after he admitted to having a foot fetish — a concept Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin couldn’t understand.

“I wish my husband had a foot fetish and wanted to give me foot rubs. It seems like a great problem to have,” Griffin said, before Hostin echoed, “Isn’t it great that he has a foot fetish? Because if you love foot massages and you happen to be married to a guy with a foot fetish that wants to give massages, it’s like the perfect marriage.”

Griffin added that you “have to entertain your partner’s kink within reason,” prompting Whoopi Goldberg to momentarily leave her seat.

While the panel was waiting for her return, Behar joked that she couldn’t comment on the subject because of what Griffin called her “beautiful” feet.

“Not to brag, but my feet have created foot fetishists out there,” Behar admitted. “So I can’t really respond to this. I feel that I’m responsible for a lot of foot fetishes.”

Hostin then confirmed the comedian’s perfect feet to be “true,” while Sara Haines described them as “very elegant.”

Once Goldberg finally made it back to the Hot Topics table, Behar asked why she had gotten up in the first place.

“I was so enamored by what you were saying that I felt that I needed to take a breath so I could just get myself together so I could come back to the table,” she sarcastically responded. “So I just got up and walked away and just got myself together.”

Behar then quipped, “See, this is what my feet do to people,” before Goldberg ripped into the segment.

“This is what this conversation does to people. It makes them get up and move,” Goldberg fired back. “I don’t care. Because my feet are huge and no one wants to touch them.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.

Hoda Kotb Says Jenna Bush Hager Was “The Ringleader” At The ‘Today Show’ Holiday Party: “I’m Sort Of Ready To Go To The Sober Living House Where My Parents Live”

We wish we were invited to this party! Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager were coming off of a “holiday party extravaganza” during Monday’s (Dec. 11) broadcast when they dished about the Today Show holiday party that was held over the weekend.

Bush Hager joked that, after this weekend, “I’m sort of ready to go to the sober living house where my parents live.”

Kotb set the scene for the holiday party where all of the Today Show anchors were in attendance, according to a picture from the evening.

“Our Today Show crew got together for drinks. Now, this is how we party,” she said. “3 p.m. we meet, [and] for most people it was a wrap by 5 p.m., 5:30. That’s two hours of sitting there and talking and drinking. For others…” She trailed off before turning to Bush Hager and saying, “I heard you were the ringleader.”

Bush Hager appeared scandalized by the accusation. “I was NOT the ringleader,” she replied.

But Kotb continued. “I heard from sources that they said, ‘Let’s get the check.’ It was late, and sources say that you said, ‘One more round!’”

Her co-host denied the accusation, insisting that she “left first” that evening. “There was four of us standing, I won’t mention any names,” she began explaining. Kotb interjected to name the people in question, saying that Savannah Guthrie, Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer were also still there.

“That’s correct,” Bush Hager admitted. “It sounds like other people are narcing out.”

Bush Hager went on to say that she “did what Hoda does best” and left the party early because she “needed to get home.”

But the topic was still on Bush Hager’s mind later on, when she brought their conversation back to the accusations. “I am going to get back at those people who blamed it on me because I don’t appreciate it,” she said. “By the way, we were still home by 7 p.m.”

It sounds like she certainly knows how to keep the party going!

Today with Jenna and Hoda airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.

Billy Porter Calls out Attacks on “People Who Are Othered” on ‘The View’: “We’re Already in a Civil War”

Billy Porter delivered an impassioned speech on today’s episode of The View, decrying the ongoing attacks against the transgender community as he boldly bashed the “civil war of the mind” that’s overtaking our country.

Porter — an actor, singer and writer who is openly gay and known for his dogged LGBTQ+ activism — was last on the show in July 2022, when he discussed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis‘ complaint that a Miami restaurant was putting on drag shows not fit for children.

“What do you make of the fact that we’re still talking about this and that it’s happening in other states, too, not just Florida?” Joy Behar asked her guest, before noting, “there’s this war against trans people.”

Porter added, “And LGBTQ+ people, and people who are othered and cabaret people.”

Behar asked, “Why are they doing it?” and Porter immediately replied, “For power. Everything is about power, and you can always trace it back to the money … it’s very hypocritical. The leading cause of death in children are guns!”

Raising his voice, Porter repeated, “They’re guns!” before adding, “I know it’s the morning and I’m not supposed to be screaming, but they’re guns, not drag queens. Leave us alone!”

He continued, “It’s a distraction. It’s a distraction on purpose. We don’t know what to pay attention to. Our justice system is convoluted, it’s hard to understand on purpose. Let’s be clear about that.”

Porter later added, “What are we talking about and what are we doing? And everybody’s so scared because, ‘Oh, if we do that then we might have a civil war.’ We’re already in a civil war, y’all. It’s a civil war of the mind.

“They’re messing with our minds. We’re already in it,” he continued, before pausing to cool off for a moment. Reaching for the arms of co-hosts Behar and Sunny Hostin, who were seated beside him, Porter said, “I’m sorry, y’all get me so riled up! I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”

Hostin brushed off his apology, telling the Pose star, “But you’re making the right points.”

Behar agreed, adding, “A civil war of the mind is a very good point,” while Porter gestured to his own forehead and insisted, “It’s already here!”

Joy Behar Denies Making Off-Color Joke About Sara Haines’ Dead Dog on ‘The View’: “I Did Not Say That”

Joy Behar is behind some of The View‘s most shocking moments (anyone remember her cringey tight end joke?). And while she’s not shy about owning up to her mistakes, on today’s episode, she denied Sara Haines‘ accusation that she once cracked a joke at the expense of a dead dog — a new low, even for her.

It all began during a conversation about Ali Wong, a comedian who often jokes about her life as a mother. After playing a clip of Wong’s set in which she says single people have much more freedom because they don’t have to plan around their kids, the panel weighed in with their own takes.

Haines, who is a mom of three, admitted she’s jealous of anyone who has the freedom to do as they please without factoring in the schedules of their family first.

“My chihuahuas had better bladders than my kids,” Haines said, but Behar stopped her to ask, “You actually have chihuahuas and three children?!”

Haines corrected her, “No, I had chihuahuas. They passed — you were here for both of their passings!”

Behar clearly didn’t recall either doggy death, and told Haines, “I always block bad things like that.”

But it only got worse from there as Haines recalled with a laugh, “I had a balloon at my birthday and you go, ‘Oh, is that the dead one?’”

As she reached over to grab Behar’s arm in jest, Behar denied cracking the brutal one-liner.

“I did not say that!” she insisted, and as Haines tried to share more of the story, she stopped her, saying, “Oh, be quiet!”

Clearly, there were no hard feelings and the chat was all in good fun as Behar and Haines cackled away at her memory. And at least now Behar won’t forget Haines’ dogs. RIP!

Whoopi Goldberg Asks for Snacks on ‘The View’: “Where Are My Chips?”

Whoopi Goldberg got a little salty on this morning’s episode of The View. The co-host, who was leading a Super Bowl recap show at the Hot Topics table, halted her own introduction to make sure she and her co-hosts would be served some previously promised snacks before they got too deep into the day’s chat.

After welcoming the viewers to Monday’s episode and congratulating the Kansas City Chiefs on their Super Bowl win, Goldberg looked off camera and made a quick request.

“Anyhoo, where are my chips? Where’s all my chips and stuff?” she asked.

A voice off camera (presumably View executive producer Brian Teta) assured the co-host, “They’re coming, they’re coming. We got ’em.”

Goldberg objected, replying, “this is the beginning of the show,” but sure enough, a staffer appeared onstage carrying all sorts of snacks.

“Let’s go, yeah!” Goldberg exclaimed as she and the rest of the Hot Topics table were presented with an array of chips, popcorn and other snacks.

Pleased with the bounty of treats, Goldberg carried on with that morning’s show, launching into a discussion about the Super Bowl.

Goldberg said she tuned into last night’s game, but couldn’t seem to focus on anything but the field at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

“It was so hard to watch. The grass really upset me. I can’t even explain,” she said, referring to the turf issues that plagued players throughout yesterday’s game as they slipped and slid across the field.

“It really upset me because I thought, if they slip and pull and they hurt themselves, you know, for no reason, then somebody didn’t put the turf down the right way.”

Sunny Hostin turned the conversation to a brighter note by pointing to the two quarterbacks who played last night — Patrick Mahomes with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jalen Hurts with the Philadelphia Eagles — both of whom are Black.

“Finally, we know that Black quarterbacks can lead teams, and are smart enough to lead teams,” she said to applause. She added, “How about some Black owners?”

Joy Behar Plays Down ‘Romeo & Juliet’ Child Abuse Lawsuit on ‘The View’: “Looks Like a Money Grab”

The View did not hold back today when it came to Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting’s recently filed lawsuit against Paramount Pictures. The stars of Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 Romeo & Juliet film are accusing the studio of child abuse and harassment for a nude scene they filmed in the movie, but according to some seated around the Hot Topics table, the $500 million lawsuit looks like a “money grab.”

The debate began after Whoopi Goldberg explained that the two actors, who are now in their 70s but were in their teens while filming, are suing the movie studio after claiming the late director pressured them to get nude and lied about the positioning of cameras, telling them they would be discreetly filmed.

“Well, it looks like a money grab because it’s such a long time ago,” Joy Behar said of the suit, but softened her analysis, aruging that there should be no statute of limitations because some people “don’t even come to the conclusion that there was abuse sometimes for years.”

Meanwhile, Sunny Hostin, who said she worked closely with child abuse victims as a prosecutor, believes the lawsuit “sort of dilutes the definition of child sex abuse.”

Referencing Hussey’s 2018 interview with Variety in which she defended the nude scene — telling the outlet, “Nobody my age had done that before. It was needed for the film” — Hostin said the actress’ previous statements “make this a very difficult case to prove” and that “it feels disingenuous to me at this point.”

Goldberg went on to advise that the two actors go after Zeffirelli’s estate since the people currently in power at Paramount “had nothing to do with making that movie then.” The moderator also admitted that she doesn’t quite see anything wrong with the final product of the film.

“As a kid who loved that movie, who fell in love with Shakespeare because of that movie, it never occurred to me that there was something wrong because it didn’t look dirty,” she said. “It looked like two kids trying to figure out who each other is.”

Whoopi Goldberg Begs Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sunny Hostin to “Tone it Down” on ‘The View’ During Tense Argument

It’s election day, and tensions are high on The View. With all of us bracing for one of the most consequential midterms in years, the co-hosts are feeling the heat too, and the stress bubbled over in the form of a tense fight between Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin on today’s episode.

Griffin said she was becoming concerned about rhetoric on the far-left, telling the table she thinks liberals have “become so negative in how they talk about the other party,” but Hostin immediately questioned her, asking, “who are are these ‘far-left people?’ Cause I don’t think you can ‘both sides’ this.”

She added, “the far-left did not storm the Capitol,” but Griffin pulled out Hostin’s comments from last week’s episode, telling her she had “called white republican women cockroaches.”

Big mistake.

Hostin quickly corrected Griffin, telling her she’d misquoted what she actually said, which was: “Suburban women are now going to vote Republican. It’s almost like roaches voting for raid.”

As Griffin attempted to walk back her comment, Hostin instructed her, “let me answer that,” but she didn’t get far as the table erupted into multiple conversations until moderator Whoopi Goldberg calmed the chaos.

“Here’s what I’m gonna ask you to do,” she practically shouted over her co-hosts. “I’m gonna ask you tone it down a bit, ’cause I can’t hear anything. No one can hear what’s being said.”

Hostin, with the table now silent, continued her defense, saying Griffin had “just said I called white women roaches, which, my mother is a white woman. So I wouldn’t say that. Second of all, what I used was a metaphor, really more of a simile. And I said, white women republicans, I just read a poll that the suburbans are now voting republican. That is like roaches voting for raid.”

As Griffin said she knew what Hostin was trying to say, Hostin told her, “let me finish,” and explained that she had pulled the roaches line from John Leguizamo and had previously said it on The View in reference to Latino voters, but “nobody had anything to say about it” then.

Hostin continued by explaining more context of the roaches comment, while Griffin tried to interject.

“Sunny, we’ve heard your point. I’m trying to make you consider a perspective you haven’t before,” she said, but Hostin talked right over her, accusing Griffin of “twisting” her words.

“Don’t say I called white women roaches, because I didn’t,” Hostin said, as Griffin tried to get a word in, but Goldberg knew the segment was long gone at that point.

“We’re gonna go to break,” she told the camera. “We’re going to break. I can’t take it.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
