Warriors stand firm: Jonathan Kuminga trade still unlikely

The Golden State Warriors maintain their reluctance to trade budding star Jonathan Kuminga as the February 8 deadline looms, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Scotto reports, “The Warriors are pleased with the growth of Jonathan Kuminga this season and are reluctant to trade him, I’m told.” The team would only consider a trade if it involved an All-Star player or an overpayment of draft picks. Despite discussions with the Raptors about Pascal Siakam, no deal came close, and Toronto wasn’t as high on Kuminga as speculated.

Upper Body Workout for Basketball Players

When it comes to playing basketball, the upper body is incredibly important as it’s involved in almost all of the skills-related movements – shooting, dribbling, and passing. Players require strength in the shoulder area mostly, especially when it comes to draining three-point shots or fighting through traffic. Along with that, the additional strength in the back, arms, and chest can help when blocking and defending, which are also vital aspects of the sport.

That’s why an ideal training program for any basketball player has to include exercises for the core, the legs, and the entire upper body.

Cole Beasley encourages Giants’ Saquon Barkley to sign with Cowboys

The New York Giants and running back Saquon Barkley appear to be headed toward another contractual impasse.

One year after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a long-term deal, ultimately resulting in a modified franchise tag, they find themselves back in the same place. Only this time, Barkley seems destined to depart East Rutherford.

If that were to come to pass, Cole Beasley, who was released off the Giants’ practice squad in October per his request, believes Barkley should sign with the Dallas Cowboys in order to stick it to Big Blue.

“Saquon, I need you to go to Dallas. Getting to run it up on your old team who disrespected you is rejuvenating,” Beasley wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Although Barkley has long dreamed of spending his entire career with the Giants, an alternate reality has begun to set in over the past year. Having experienced the ugly side of NFL business firsthand, the 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year now admits he can envision himself in a different uniform.

“It never crossed my mind until last year after I got tagged. Up until that moment, I really believed that I was gonna finish my career as a New York Giant,” Barkley told Complex. “But once you get to this point, you go to your contract negotiation and you go through the tag process, you realize how much of a business it is.

“And I remember vets always telling me this and you know I believed them, but you don’t really know something until you go through it. So could I see myself in another uniform? Yeah, it’s possible.”

If Barkley is allowed to hit the free agent market, he will not be short on potential suitors. Among them will almost certainly be both the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

Giants would receive draft picks for losing Mike Kafka, Brandon Brown

The New York Giants are in danger of losing some of their young leadership group to other teams seeking to build their front offices and coaching staffs.

Assistant general manager Brandon Brown and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka have been making the rounds this offseason, interviewing for GM and head coaching vacancies around the league.

Giant fans are nervous as the poaching is coming way too soon in the team’s rebuild and could stunt the team’s progress should they lose one or both men.

There is a silver lining, however.

If the Giants lose Brown and/or Kafka to other teams in promotional moves, they will be eligible to receive compensation in upcoming NFL drafts as both are considered minority candidates.

Yes, as per an addition to the Rooney Rule in 2020, teams that “lose a minority executive or coach to another team … would receive a third-round compensatory pick for two years. If a team lost both a coach and personnel member, it would receive a third-round compensatory pick for three years.”

The picks naturally come at the end of the third round. The expansion of the Rooney Rule aims to incentivize teams to hire and develop minority candidates in leadership roles.

Casemiro wants to fight for his Man United future despite Al Nassr interest – Man United News And Transfer News

1

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is yet to zero in on a stable midfield partnership partly due to injury and also because of poor form.

The Dutchman tried to pair new signing Mason Mount alongside the formidable Casemiro only for the former Chelsea player to take up the same areas as Bruno Fernandes.

The Brazilian was left isolated and he struggled to track runners and got overwhelmed by opposition counter-attacks.

Casemiro’s future

His subsequent injury allowed Sofyan Amrabat to come in but he was arguably even worse and it is clear to see that the Moroccan is not a good fit for the Premier League.

Ten Hag is hoping that the former Real Madrid superstar, who is back from injury, can repeat last season’s heroics with Kobbie Mainoo offering more protection alongside him.

However, INEOS, who are set to take over sporting affairs, are keen to get rid of the Brazil international with Sir Jim Ratcliffe not a fan of the money the club threw at the five-time Champions League winner.

There have even been talks of a contract termination should a solution regarding his exit not be found.

CR7’s attempt

Cristiano Ronaldo wants Al Nassr to bring in his former Madrid and United teammate at all costs but the defensive midfielder has other ideas.

As per HITC Football, Casemiro wants to fight for his place in the team and has no intention of jumping ship in the January transfer window.

As for the Saudi Arabian club, the 31-year-old is their top target and if not now, they will return in the summer with renewed vigour.

“Al-Nassr are ready and willing to sign Manchester United star Casemiro this month, but the midfielder is keen on staying at Old Trafford, HITC Football understands.

No to Saudi for now

“HITC also understands that Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence has played a part in this deal being potentially on the table as the Portuguese star has encouraged Al-Nassr to make a move for the Brazilian.

“Intermediaries have had contact with both United and Casemiro this month, but HITC is told that the Brazilian and his camp have told them a move is unlikely in January, hence why an offer from the Pro League is not forthcoming.”

Casemiro notched four goals and one assist in 12 games across all competitions but fans will hope he can curb his attacking instincts and focus on shielding the back four once he returns.

He looks like he has lost a yard of pace but the Brazilian remains United’s best bet at finishing the season strong.

Mitch Kupchak: We hoped that we would contend for a lower-level playoff spot

Charlotte Hornets president of basketball operations/general manager Mitch Kupchak was recently asked if trading Terry Rozier means that the team is now in rebuild mode.

(via Charlotte Hornets):

“It’s definitely not a rebuild. We’ve got a foundation of players in place. Of course I’m not going to mention all the players, but I’ll mention our two highest picks, it just makes sense, LaMelo Ball & Brandon Miller. But there are other players that we’ve pegged as players that would be very difficult to trade.
