Anker PowerCore 737 24,000mAh Power Bank for $90

with 140W of USB Type-C Power Delivery

Anker 737 PowerCore 24K 24,000mAh Power Bank with 140W USB Type-C Power Delivery

The Anker PowerCore 737 can be used like any other power bank; it does a fine job of charging any of your standard mobile electronics. It has two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port. One of the USB Type-C ports is bi-directional, meaning it can be used to charge devices AND it can also be used to charge the power bank itself. The massive 24,000mAh is just under the TSA’s 27,000mAh limit; it can charge a Nintendo Switch OLED over 5 times, iPhone 15 Pro Max over 5 times, Steam Deck over 4 times, and an ASUS ROG Ally over 9 times. The power bank is physically larger than smaller capacity ones and weighs in at 1.4 pounds.

What really makes special about the PowerCore 737, however, is it’s massive power delivery spec. The 737 is capable of delivery 140W of power output That’s enough power to charge the 16″ MacBook Pro laptop even while you’re using it. That kind of power output is hard to find in a power bank and usually pricier.

The Anker 737 is our pick for best Steam Deck / ASUS ROG Ally charger

We picked the Anker 737 as our favorite portable charger for the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally portable gaming handhelds. Portable PC gaming has never been better, but there’s still a way to go when it comes to batteries in these incredible devices. Both the ROG Ally and Steam Deck suffer from a short battery life when gaming on the go. For instance, when playing most games at 60 FPS, you’re likely looking at four hours of battery life, at most. During our review, we even found games like God of War or Spider-Man would tap out in under 2-hours as well. At the end of the day, you’ll never get the full potential out of your Steam Deck or ROG Ally if you’re not equipped with a decent portable charger.

Netanyahu’s Coalition ‘May Be in Jeopardy,’ Intelligence Report Says

A new American intelligence assessment released on Monday raised doubts about whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel could stay in power, as the C.I.A. director said a hostage deal was the most practical way to halt, at least temporarily, the war in Gaza.

The 2024 Annual Threat Assessment expressed concerns about Israel’s vision for the end of the war and said that Mr. Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition “may be in jeopardy.”

“Distrust of Netanyahu’s ability to rule has deepened and broadened across the public from its already high levels before the war, and we expect large protests demanding his resignation and new elections,” the report said. “A different, more moderate government is a possibility.”

The report predicted that Israel would struggle to achieve its goal of “destroying Hamas.”

“Israel probably will face lingering armed resistance from Hamas for years to come, and the military will struggle to neutralize Hamas’s underground infrastructure, which allows insurgents to hide, regain strength and surprise Israeli forces,” the report said.

Tensions between President Biden and Mr. Netanyahu have flared in recent days over Israel’s planned military operations in Rafah in southern Gaza. But the intelligence report, prepared over months, was written before the most recent tensions.

The annual report is usually accompanied by two days of hearings before the Senate and the House Intelligence Committees. Intelligence officials were not asked about the assessment of Mr. Netanyahu’s government in testimony before the Senate panel on Monday. Instead, questions about Israel and Gaza focused on the hostage negotiations.

William J. Burns, the C.I.A. director, returned on Saturday from his eighth overseas trip to negotiate the release of hostages. U.S. officials had hoped to secure an agreement by the beginning of Ramadan, but that deadline passed.

Mr. Burns said he was focused on pursuing a first phase of an agreement to pause the fighting in Gaza for six weeks to allow more humanitarian aid to flow into the territory and secure the release of 40 hostages. That group — remaining women, older men, and wounded or ill people — would be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Mr. Burns did not detail how many Palestinians would be released, but others briefed on the talks have said hundreds of low-level prisoners and 15 people convicted of serious crimes would be freed.

But Mr. Burns said the only way to help Gazans suffering in “desperate conditions” and provide relief to Israeli hostages and their families was to pursue a first step to something that might become a “more enduring arrangement over time.”

“I learned a long time ago in crises like this that you have to find a practical goal and pursue it relentlessly,” Mr. Burns said.

“I don’t think anybody can guarantee success,” he said. “What I think you can guarantee is that the alternatives are worse for innocent civilians in Gaza who are suffering under desperate conditions, for the hostages and their families who are suffering also under very desperate conditions, and for all of us.”

Protesters interrupted the hearing several times, calling for Israel to stop bombing Gaza and shouting that the war was “exterminating the Palestinian people.” Senator Tom Cotton, Republican of Arkansas, asked Mr. Burns if he agreed with the protesters.

Mr. Burns said that he understood Israel’s need to respond to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack, but that “we all also have to be mindful of the enormous toll that this has taken on innocent civilians in Gaza.”

“As the president has said, it’s very important for Israel to be extremely mindful of that and to avoid, you know, further loss of civilian life,” he said.

Mr. Burns testified alongside Avril D. Haines, the director of national intelligence, and other intelligence leaders including Christopher A. Wray, the F.B.I. director.

Mr. Wray said the United States was facing elevated terrorism threats from homegrown extremists, foreign organizations and others.

“Since Oct. 7, though, that threat has gone to a whole other level,” he said. “And so this is time for much greater vigilance.”

In the annual report, the intelligence agencies concluded that “Israel will face mounting international pressure because of the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.”

The war in Gaza is “posing a challenge” to America’s Arab partners because of growing public sentiment against both Israel and the United States caused by “the death and destruction in Gaza.” Those nations see the United States as the power broker that can end the conflict before it spreads.

The report says what many U.S. officials have said in recent months: that Iran did not orchestrate or have foreknowledge of the Oct. 7 attacks.

Both Iran and Israel are trying to calibrate their actions against each other and avoid a direct conflict, the report said. But the intelligence agencies say they believe that Iran will continue to arm and aid proxy forces that threaten the United States even after the Gaza war is over.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 Announced for PlayStation 4, Fans Express Confusion

Three years after its release on Nintendo Switch and PC, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is headed to PlayStation… 4. Capcom announced that the turn-based spin-off of the popular monster hunting series will be releasing on PlayStation’s previous-gen console, leaving PS5 owners to play it through the console’s backwards compatibility features.

Revealed during today’s Capcom Highlights stream, which previously revealed Dragon’s Dogma 2’s character creator, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is slated to arrive on PS4 on June 14. It will be available as a special set with the remastered version of the original Monster Hunter Stories, which is slated to release the same day.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 will be available in a special deluxe edition.

A preorder bonus includes a special Kamura Maiden outfit for Ena, with additional bonuses available by connecting it with a Monster Hunter Rise save. It will also be available in a deluxe edition featuring various costumes and other items.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin was first released on Nintendo Switch and PC back in 2021. We called it “great” in our review, writing, “Minor oversights and frustrations certainly wore away at me over the 80+ hours I spent with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin — during its campaign and beyond — but the journey was well worth taking despite the frequent grains of sand in my shoe.

“Its mercifully free, gacha-like monster hatching loop is always exciting, and its combat and customization are both accessible but still intricate and rewarding. Its story is enjoyable if a bit cliche, but exploring this gorgeous world from the backs of my favorite monsters is an absolute delight.”

Since its release, fans have wondered when Monster Hunter Stories 2 would be making its way to PlayStation, and now they don’t have to wonder anymore. But more than a few expressed surprise over Capcom’s decision to limit it to an exclusive PS5 release.

“PS4 still going strong I see,” one commenter quipped on social media. Another observed publishers are “holding onto these decade-old consoles til the heat death of the universe.”

Monster Hunter Stories 2 is far from the only game headed to PS4 in 2024, though. MLB The Show 24, Unicorn Overlord, and numerous other releases are still coming out on PS4, which was first released back in 2013 and has sold more than 117 million units. One way or another, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is heading to PlayStation, and you’ll still be able to play it on PS5 even if it’s technically for PS4.

As for the original Monster Hunter Stories, the former 3DS exclusive is slated to release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC on June 14. You can read our original review right here.

New York Giants to sign ex-Las Vegas Raiders OL Jermaine Eluemunor

The New York Giants continue to make moves on the first day of the legal tampering free agency period. They will reportedly add Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor on a two-year deal.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to share the news.

Eluemunor, 29, was a fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens back in 2017 out of Texas A&M and moved onto New England after three seasons. He also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins before landing in Las Vegas in 2021.

Eluemunor (6’4″, 330 pounds) has played in 87 NFL games, starting 45, and allowed 21 pressures on 474 pass-block attempts (4.4%) in 12 starts at right tackle last season.

It’s unclear if the Giants intend to use Eluemunor at guard or tackle, where he would presumably compete with Evan Neal.

“The Qataris were very real”: Raine Group co-founder opens up on Sheikh Jassim’s failed Man United bid – Man United News And Transfer News

2

Raine Group co-founder Joe Ravitch has opened up on Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani’s failed bid to buy Manchester United.

The 13-month sale process that was kickstarted by the Glazers in late 2022 saw Sheikh Jassim come up against Sir Jim Ratcliffe in a hotly-contested race to purchase United.

Sheikh Jassim wanted to buy 100% of the club. He promised to clear the Red Devils’ existing debt and invest significant sums in revamping the infrastructure and improving the team.

However, his bid for a full takeover was not deemed enough by the Glazers. The American family decided to go with Ratcliffe who eventually amended his bid and subsequently sought a minority buy-out but with full control of United’s sporting operations.

On Christmas Eve, United announced that Ratcliffe had struck an agreement with the Glazers over a partial investment into the Red Devils.

This deal was made official last month. The INEOS billionaire has wasted no time in starting work at Old Trafford.

After the confirmation of his investment, he spoke to the media and aimed a dig at his main competitor during the takeover – Sheikh Jassim.

Ratcliffe joked that the Qatari royal might not exist and even suggested that the manner he went about trying to take over the reins at the club was not standard practice.

However, according to Joe Ravitch who spoke to The Times, Sheikh Jassim does indeed exist and he was very interested in becoming the next custodian of the 20-time English champions.

Ravitch is a co-founder of Raine Group, the American merchant bank that was contracted by the Glazers to preside over the United takeover.

He told the newspaper, “We met Jassim.”

“He was in New York. He’s a lovely guy; a very smart guy. The Qataris were very real. They were very smart guys, very thoughtful. I don’t know why they didn’t appreciate the value [of the club], but we were not their adviser. We tried as the seller to explain the value to them, and they put what they thought was a series of very serious bids on the table.”

“His bid, however, was not enough, with the Glazer family, who are still the majority owners of the club, rejecting their bids.”

“My clients [the Glazers] are also smart guys. We thought the value would be around $6.5 billion [about £5billion], so we were kind of spot on with regards to where Ratcliffe ended up.”

Ravitch hinted that the price they were willing to sell United drastically changed midway through the process after the Washington Commanders changed hands for $6 billion. This may have been the thing that finally put the Qatari businessman off and prompted him to withdraw his bid.

“When the Washington Commanders [NFL team] went for $6 billion we all thought: ‘Well, United is the most important sports team in the world; more than a billion fans. The Commanders own one 32nd of the NFL. Their economics are severely limited by the commercial sharing caps placed on it by the league.”

“We know that because the Glazers also own an NFL team. Therefore, if someone is willing to pay six billion for the Commanders, someone should be willing to pay more for United.”

Ravitch added, “I think the Qataris got to about $5.75 billion. We said to them, ‘You’re within 10 per cent, why don’t you get in a room and try to get to a deal.’ But they said no. I think they were very conscious of criticism if they were seen to be overpaying.”

He further stated that while the Qataris would have made good owners of United, the Glazers made the right choice not to take less money and instead stick with Ratcliffe.

Opinion | On Senator Katie Britt’s Response to Biden’s State of the Union

On Thursday, Katie Britt, the junior senator from Alabama, delivered the Republican response to the State of the Union address. Her overwrought performance has been widely mocked; that’s OK for late-night TV, but I’m not going to join in that chorus.

What I want to do instead is focus on the centerpiece of Britt’s remarks, a deeply misleading story about sex trafficking that she used to attack President Biden. Her use of the story — which turns out to have involved events in Mexico way back when George W. Bush was president — wasn’t technically a lie, since she didn’t explicitly say that it happened in the United States on Biden’s watch. She did, however, say: “We wouldn’t be OK with this happening in a third-world country. This is the United States of America, and it’s past time we start acting like it. President Biden’s border crisis is a disgrace.”

That’s a clear attempt to mislead — the moral equivalent of a lie — and the careful wording actually suggests that she knew she was being misleading, and wanted an escape hatch if someone called her bluff.

To really understand the significance of her de facto lie, however, we need to put it in political context.

Over the past few months, there’s been a palpable shift in Republican rhetoric away from attacks on the Biden economy and toward dire warnings about “migrant crime.”

This shift has in part been forced by the fact that the Biden economy is actually doing very well these days, with inflation receding while unemployment remains near a 50-year low. In political terms, the narrative of a bad economy seems to be fading.

If I were a Republican strategist, I’d be especially worried about the changing tone of news coverage. The San Francisco Fed maintains a daily index of “news sentiment.” In the summer of 2023, although the economy was arguably already performing pretty well, this index was roughly as low as it was in the depths of the Great Recession. Since then, however, it has shot up to levels roughly comparable to those that prevailed on the eve of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Republicans, then, need a new issue. And there really does seem to have been a surge in illegal attempts to cross our southern border. So there are strategic reasons for Donald Trump and his party to hype the dangers of migrant crime — and for Trump and his allies to maximize the fear factor by blocking bipartisan legislation that would have helped secure the border.

My guess, however, is that Trump’s rants about migrant crime aren’t purely strategic. He has a history of being obsessed with alleged crimes by dark-skinned people, going all the way back to his demand, after the arrests of the Central Park Five, who were eventually exonerated, to reinstate the death penalty. And his claims about the dangers posed by migrants are so extreme that they may well be self-defeating.

The other day, for example, he declared, “I will stop the killing, I will stop the bloodshed, I will end the agony of our people, the plunder of our cities, the sacking of our towns, the violation of our citizens and the conquest of our country.” Which towns and cities, exactly, have been sacked and plundered? Did Attila the Hun swing by for a visit while I wasn’t looking?

Yes, figuring out how best to secure our borders is a real issue, but the data just doesn’t show that there’s a crisis of migrant crime. Indeed, homicides in America surged in 2020 — a year in which Trump was still president and apprehensions at the southern border were way down. By contrast, in the past couple of years, the homicide rate has come down even as border activity has increased.

So what do you do when the numbers don’t support your dystopian fantasies? You zero in on the most horrific individual stories.

Without question, the killing of Laken Riley, for which an undocumented immigrant has been charged, is devastating. But in a country as big as ours, it’s almost always possible to find examples of unspeakable tragedies involving individual members of whatever group you name. There are probably more than 10 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. Based on the available evidence, however, immigrants are less likely than native-born Americans to commit crimes.

In any case, the migrant crime wave — the “plunder of our cities” Trump seems to endlessly decry — is a myth. But it may be a myth Trump believes in, and the possibility that in this instance he may actually be sincere is alarming.

Why? Because if Trump really believes migrants are an existential threat, if he wins in November, as president he might go through with his plan to engage in sweeping raids and mass deportations, very likely catching up many people who simply look as if they might be undocumented immigrants.

So don’t wave away Britt’s remarks as a mere example of bad acting. They may be the harbinger of a reign of terror that will wreak havoc in America.

New York Giants acquire edge rusher Brian Burns from Carolina Panthers

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen entered the offseason desperate to beef up the team’s organic pass rush and accomplished that task on Monday.

After several days of unsubstantiated rumors, the Giants pulled the trigger and acquired defensive end Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers.

In exchange for Burns, the Giants will send a second- and a fifth-round pick to Carolina.

Although the Panthers had placed the franchise tag on Burns, the two sides had completely halted contract negotiations. A trade was inevitable and the Giants had been in Dan Morgan’s ear for quite some time.

Burns will get a five-year contract extension worth $150 million with $87.5 million of it guaranteed.

The 25-year-old Burns was a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft and had spent his entire career in Carolina to this point. He’s appeared in 80 career games (67 starts) and recorded 246 tackles (151 solo, 59 for a loss), eight forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 13 passes defensed, 95 QB hits and 46.0 sacks.

Burns was named to the Pro Bowl in both 2021 and 2022.

In 2023, Burns earned a 74.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, as well as a 75.2 pass rush grade.

Al Pacino Addresses Oscars Controversy Over Best Picture Presentation

Typically, the presenter for Best Picture briefly lists the nominees in the category before announcing the winner. Pacino, however, did not, instead telling the audience, “Ten wonderful films were nominated, but only one will take the award for Best Picture—and I have to go to the envelope for that.” He then announced the winner, saying, “My eyes see Oppenheimer.”

And fans were very much divided on the Academy’s choice to go that route.

“Most anti-climatic Best Picture announcement ever,” one Oscar watcher wrote on X. “I wanted to see all of the nominees.” Another joked Pacino’s presentation style was an “Oscar worthy performance in its own right.”
