Is a real GTA 6 disc edition coming in December? Rockstar has not announced one

Rockstar sells a physical-looking GTA 6 box, but the official description is blunt: a disc will not be included. The box contains a digital download code and is expected to reach retailers from November 12.

A separate report claimed a true disc edition would follow in December 2026. That claim has been repeated widely, but Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced such a product. Other reporting has directly disputed the December story.

What buyers receive at launch

The Standard Edition box contains a code for the digital game and eligible bonuses. Players still need internet access and up to 212GB of storage to download the preload. Calling it a “physical version” describes the packaging, not game data pressed onto a Blu-ray disc.

Could a disc appear later?

Rockstar could change its product plans, but that possibility does not confirm a December release. A real disc edition would require retailer listings, manufacturing details and an official product announcement. None is currently public.

Collectors should therefore make purchasing decisions based on the code-in-box product that exists, not a future disc that may never arrive.

The verdict

The December disc claim is unverified and disputed. The only confirmed launch-era boxed edition contains a download code.

If someone promises a shiny disc “next month” but cannot show a Rockstar listing, please admire the confidence—from a safe distance.
