Trailer for Tom Brady’s new movie ’80 For Brady’ featuring Patriots cast finally released

A new trailer for “80 For Brady”, the much-anticipated Tom Brady film based on a true story, offers a glimpse into the Oscar-studded Patriots reunion.

As much as people are tired of seeing Tom Brady, there’s one award-winning duo that could always use a little more screentime: Grace and Frankie.

While the seventh and final season of the beloved Netflix series wrapped up earlier this year, both Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin team up as a part of a four-woman squad taking over Super Bowl LI in the Tom Brady-produced film, “80 For Brady.” Rita Moreno and Sally Field join Fonda and Tomlin as a group of best friends on “one wild trip” to witness the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.

While the film and its award-winning cast have been teased for months, the trailer just dropped, and the reviews are already pouring in.

Reviews range everywhere from “you can’t pay me to watch this” (full disclosure: this particular review is from a Bills fan) to “I am going to be sitting through content about T** B***y. The power of these ladies is strong.” The pairing of Brady and Patriots stars such as Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola with four Hollywood legends was a significant question mark, and the trailer may have only brought more questions than answers.

Although there’s still about two hours of chaos that Patriots fans and film buffs will be able to access on Feb. 3 — the anniversary of Super Bowl LI — the two-minute clip was enough to tease tentative reviews.

Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud offered a Bucs-centric review of the clip, letting fans know how much of their favorite players were featured in the trailer.

Other NFL reporters weren’t as impressed. Audacy Sports’ Lucy Burdge offered a scathing review of the trailer that doesn’t bode well for 199 Productions.

“It is going to stink out loud,” Burdge emphasizes. “There is an Academy Award winner in this movie, and Guy Fieri is going to give the best performance of anybody…This movie, I would say, is going to be the worst movie of 2023. This might be worse than Hubie Halloween, and that was pretty bad.”

For reference, Hubie Halloween received a 51 percent on Rotten Tomatoes “tomatometer” with a 47 percent score from the audience, stats that are well below Brady’s completion percentage this season of 66 percent.

Could Brady’s 2022 completion percentage be higher than the tomatometer for “80 For Brady” in 2023? It’s entirely possible, but it’s also possible that there’s another award-winning performance in there for one of these Hollywood titans. Or, maybe Guy Fieri will upstage everyone else in this film.
