Man United receive huge boost in Dan Ashworth chase with Newcastle now likely to compromise on asking fee – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have received a major lift in their pursuit of Newcastle chief Dan Ashworth, with his employers now reportedly willing to compromise on the compensation fee they wanted before parting ways with him.

Ashworth has been on gardening leave since February, which Newcastle placed him in after he informed them of his wish to leave St James’ Park in favour of joining Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new United project.

It’s believed that the Magpies were angered by United’s approach for the 53-year-old, which clearly unsettled him.

Negotiations have since been held between the two sides but nothing has materialized. It has been stated that Eddie Howe’s side want an unrealistic £20million compensation package to let their executive circumvent his notice period and start work at Old Trafford immediately.

Meanwhile, Ratcliffe and INEOS have made it clear they will not be bullied into paying such a ludicrous amount for non-playing personnel and are even willing to wait as long as necessary to eventually land their main man.

It’s understood that Ratcliffe held talks with Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley in an attempt to find a solution to the problem but it seems the dialogue between them was unproductive.

A recent report from David Ornstein that was covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Ashworth was set to take the Tyneside outfit to arbitration to facilitate his switch to United. Such is the level of his desire to immediately get his hands on Erik ten Hag’s set-up.

All signs pointed to the fact that Ashworth would not be in situ at United in time for INEOS’ first summer transfer window at the club amidst the ongoing standoff.

However, a fresh update issued by Football Insider has revealed that there is now renewed hope that a deal for Ashworth can get over the line in the coming weeks.

The outlet reports, “Man United still plan to have Dan Ashworth in place for the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.”

“A well-placed source has told Football Insider that there has been “no movement” in negotiations in recent weeks but there is a “big” expectation a deal will be agreed soon.”

“Talks are ongoing between both sides and sources say that Newcastle are likely to “compromise” amid widespread reports of demands reaching £20million.”

Ashworth is poised to take charge of recruitment affairs at United, with new technical director Jason Wilcox working under him.
