Xbox Series X Selling at 10 Percent Discount on Flipkart at Rs. 49,900

Xbox Series X is currently selling at launch price on Flipkart. The online storefront is offering a 10 percent discount on Microsoft’s flagship new-gen console, which recently saw a price hike to Rs. 55,990. The 4K Blu-ray-equipped system is now available for Rs. 49,990, as part of the storewide Big Bachat Dhamaal Sale, running until January 8. Of course, you can avail an extra 10 percent discount using certain credit cards — Bank of Baroda, IDFC FIRST, and Yes Bank — or opt for some minor price cuts for other products you order from Flipkart.

Microsoft India raised the prices for the Xbox Series X back in November, which marked the second price hike for the console in the span of four months. Earlier this month, even the lower-specced Xbox Series S, was reported to get a price hike, likely due to the weakening power of the Indian Rupee (INR) against the US Dollar (USD). The Series S will soon cost Rs. 39,990, which is over a 5 percent increase compared to the previously hiked Rs. 37,990 price tag in August 2022. For what it’s worth, the Xbox Series S is also being offered in Flipkart’s Big Bachat Dhamaal Sale, at Rs. 32,990. Keep in mind that this version is digital only and comes with a 512GB internal SSD.

Some Xbox accessories are also being offered on sale, starting with the Robot White variant of the Xbox Wireless Controller, which is getting a 13 percent discount, selling at Rs. 5,199. Meanwhile, the Carbon Black edition is being offered for Rs. 5,390. The super bright Electric Volt/ fluorescent green wireless controller is selling for as low as Rs. 5,890 — a 10 percent discount from the Rs. 6,590 price tag it was upped to, back in November.

Sadly, on the PlayStation side, you can only get controllers for now, since the PS5 goes out of stock in an instant — akin to flash sales. Getting hold of one has been a struggle owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in global chip shortages and inventory struggles. On Flipkart, the colour options — Pink, Red, and Ice Blue — of the PS5 DualSense controller are all equally marked for a 9 percent discount, costing Rs. 5,799. The standard white variant is listed for Rs. 5,299.

In November, even Sony raised the prices for its PS5 console in India, with the standalone Digital Edition now costing Rs. 44,990, whereas the 4K Blu-ray-equipped system is priced at Rs. 54,900. That’s a 10 and 12.5 percent cost uptick, compared to their launch price of Rs. 39,900 and Rs. 49,900, respectively.

Xbox Series X Price in India Is Now Rs. 52,990, as Indian Rupee Falls Against US Dollar

Xbox Series X now costs more in India — as expected. Online retailers have revealed that the new (higher) India price for Microsoft’s flagship gaming console is Rs. 52,990. That’s a 6 percent jump from what the Series X cost at launch in India: Rs. 49,990. This is due to the weakening power of the Indian Rupee (INR) against the US Dollar (USD), with the currency having dropped over 6.5 percent since the launch of Xbox Series S/X in November 2020. Microsoft had cited “market conditions” and “changes in regional marketplaces” when it confirmed in June that prices of Xbox consoles would be moving up in India — and the rupee has further fallen against the dollar since then.

Gadgets 360 has reached out to Microsoft India for confirmation on the new Series X price.

Xbox Series X Review: Old Wine Made New

Prepaid Gamer Card — one of the only online Xbox retailers to provide estimates on delivery — now lists the Series X at Rs. 52,990. Meanwhile, the Series X page on Amazon India remains offline, as is the case when it’s not in stock. The Series X listing on Flipkart and Reliance Digital still lists it for Rs. 49,990. Neither of them has stock either, so it’s possible the prices simply haven’t been updated on Amazon, Flipkart, and Reliance. Of course, if any old Series X stock is still available online or offline, you might still be able to get Microsoft’s console at Rs. 49,990. In such cases, you’re usually better off calling a game store near where you live.

If you are looking to pick up some old stock, the Series X isn’t the only Xbox hardware where that is the case. In fact, both Amazon and Flipkart are currently offering the Xbox Series S at Rs. 31,399, a 10 percent discount on the old sticker price of Rs. 34,990. It’s unclear if this discount is driven by the online retailers, or Microsoft India’s distribution partner Redington. Either way, this is the best deal you are likely to get on the smaller and more affordable Xbox console, given the new Series S stock will cost Rs. 36,990 following price increases. The Series S is also the only next-gen console — out of the PS5 and Series S/X — that’s easily available for purchase in India.

Meanwhile, both the Xbox Wireless Controller and the Xbox Wireless Headset — also part of last month’s report on Xbox hardware costing more in India — are now reflecting new prices across some online retailers. As revealed, the Xbox Wireless Controller has gone up to Rs. 5,590, with Amazon India and Prepaid Gamer Card stating as much. Though as we’ve seen before, it’s available below MRP. Case in point, Prepaid Gamer Card selling it at a discount at Rs. 5,199 right now. As for the Xbox Wireless Headset, it now retails at Rs. 9,490 in India. Both Amazon and Prepaid Gamer Card are showing that new sticker price for the headset too.

Xbox Series X India Restock: Amazon to Take Pre-Orders at 12pm Noon Today

Xbox Series X restock is happening today in India. In a rare move, Amazon has revealed that the Xbox Series X will be available for pre-order in the country today at 12pm (noon). The pre-orders of the Xbox Series X are notably going live at the time when Sony is once again making its PlayStation 5 consoles and bundles available in the country for pre-order. Xbox Series X was launched back in November 2020 globally, alongside Xbox Series S, as Microsoft’s latest gaming consoles. It comes in a svelte tower PC-like design and is based on the Xbox velocity architecture.

Xbox Series X pre-orders in India

Amazon has revealed on its video game home page and the dedicated Series S/X page that the Xbox Series X will be available for pre-orders in India from 12pm (noon) on Friday. It is unclear whether the console will also go on pre-orders through other channels. Gadgets 360 has reached out to Microsoft for clarity on that front and will update this article when the company responds.

Considering supply constraints, just a few Xbox Series X units are likely to be available for pre-orders. It is, therefore, recommended to log in on the e-commerce site on time to secure your order.

Since its debut in late 2020, Microsoft has rarely publicly revealed any details about Xbox Series X restocks in the country. The sales channels for the latest Xbox console have also remained silent about its availability most of the times. This is unlike the case of PlayStation 5 where we regularly get pre-order details through its sales channels, as well as Sony Centre’s official ShopAtSC website.

In October 2020, Xbox chief Phil Spencer said in an interview that the initial Xbox Series X/S pre-orders in India that took place in September of that year sold out instantly. He added: “We’ve hardly ever sold consoles in markets like that before,” without revealing the exact number of units sold.

Xbox Series X price in India

Xbox Series X price in India has been set at Rs. 49,990. In contrast, the Xbox Series S, which is available much easily, is priced at Rs. 34,990.
