Man killed by cops while cleaning out late grandma’s home: family

An Ohio man has died after being shot by police who believed he was a burglar – but his family says he had only been cleaning out his late grandmother’s house.

Police in Wyoming, a city outside Cincinnati, encountered Joe Frasure Jr. 28, while responding about 1 a.m. Monday to a 911 call that a few people were trying to break into an apartment on Durrell Avenue, NBC News reported.

Cops found Frasure Jr. and his father, Joe Frasure Sr., at the rear of the building, where the younger man refused orders to get out of a minivan, Police Chief Brooke Brady said.

“The minivan reversed at a high rate of speed, before hitting a tree, at which point the vehicle accelerated rapidly at our officers,” she said in a video statement, according to the news outlet.

“The officers fired four shots at the minivan as the minivan was accelerating towards them,” she added.

Frasure Jr. was struck by the gunfire and the vehicle slammed into the building, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office.

“With the vehicle smoking and the engine still running, our officers forced their way into the minivan and pulled Mr. Frasure from it. They then provided life-saving care and he was transported to University Hospital,” Brady said.

“This is a tragedy for all involved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time,” she added.

Police said Frasure was aiming a minivan at officers when he was shot.

The man’s family said he and his dad were just helping his sister clear out the apartment where their grandmother lived before she died recently, WLWT reported.

“I didn’t hear no commands. All I heard is pop, pop, pop, pop. Like, it was, like, 10 rounds,” his sister Shonda Coleman told WLWT, as she refuted the police chief’s account.

“I want to see the bodycam. I want all the cops that was here, every one of them that was here, I want their information,” she added.

Coleman Sr. also told WLWT that his son was not aiming at police when he was in the minivan.

The family provided a local news outlet a photograph of him on life support at UC Medical Center, where he died Tuesday.

Friends and family are asking police to release body cam video of the deadly encounter.

On Wednesday, friends and relatives held a small protest outside the Wyoming Police Department, Local 12 reported.

“I want to know why they killed my brother. I want to see the video,” said Frasure’s brother, who is also named Joe.

“My brother was a father, a brother, a son, a family member. A loving friend. Please help me get justice for my brother, please. Help me. Please help me,” he said.

The body cam footage has reportedly been turned over to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office and the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office.

Cousin of BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors dies after being tased

A cousin of Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors died after being tased repeatedly by officers he was trying to flee, intense bodycam footage shows.

The incident happened on the afternoon of Jan. 3 in Los Angeles’ Venice neighborhood, according to police officials who released a 19 minute video about the encounter Wednesday.

Witnesses initially told officials that a man — later identified as Keenan Anderson, 31 — had caused a traffic collision at a busy intersection and was “running in the middle of the street and exhibiting erratic behavior,” according to LAPD Captain Kelly Muñiz.

Anderson, 31, was initially cooperative with police, but had expressed concerns that he would be framed or “killed.”

After responding officers arrived, Anderson obeys orders and sits on the sidewalk while being questioned, the footage shows.

The young black man then expresses concern that other cops will try to plant evidence in the BMW he was driving and left down the street.

“They’re trying to put stuff in my car,” Anderson says in the footage.

“Who’s trying to put stuff in your car?,” the unidentified officer responds.

“They gonna try to,” he replies.

Anderson is then seen becoming increasingly agitated — ignoring orders to stay seated and pacing back and forth.

Suddenly, he bolts into the traffic after proclaiming the situation was “making me hot,” according to the bodycam footage of four officers released by the department.

Officers quickly catch up with the fleeing suspect but he refuses multiple requests to lie down on his stomach on the road, the clip shows.

Anderson is then shown pleading with bystanders for help as multiple cops restrain him on the asphalt.

“Please sir, please don’t do this sir. Please! help me please!,” he cries, while accusing the police of being “actors” and “trying to kill” him.

“They’re trying to George Floyd me… They’re trying to George Floyd me!,” he frantically utters, referencing the 2020 police murder of a Minneapolis man that sparked nationwide police brutality protests.

Keenan Anderson was warned he would be tased if he did not obey their instructions.

After more than a half dozen warnings that officers would deploy a Taser if he didn’t stop resisting, an officer deploys the stun gun multiple times on the suspect.

“Help! They think I killed C-Lo, they think I killed C-Lo, Help me please! They’re trying to sedate me, I know too much!,” Anderson screams as cops handcuff him and and strap his legs together.

In addition to the bodycam footage, police released cellphone footage from a witness who was filming the troubling encounter from across the street.

“That guy right there he caused that accident,” a man is heard saying in the phone video.

“He was trying to steal my car. Yeah the police are doing the right, uh job right now. Don’t think that the police are abusing him. He was trying to, uh, go away,” the witness continues.

“I think that guy’s in a very paranoid state,” another man is heard saying.

Anderson died of undisclosed “medical emergency” four hours after the incident, police said.

About five minutes after paramedics arrived to render aid to Anderson, he was taken to a Los Angeles hospital, according to Muñiz.

“While at the hospital and after approximately four and a half hours following the use of force, Anderson experienced a medical emergency, did not responded to life saving efforts by medical staff and was pronounced deceased,” the captain confirmed.

Muñiz did not elaborate on the circumstances of the “emergency” or his cause of death.

Police said an autopsy conducted by the department found Anderson had traces of cocaine and cannabis in his system.

The results of a county medical examiner autopsy had not yet been released.

Cullors — who co-founded the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation but stepped down after The Post revealed she went on a multi-million dollar real estate buying spree — said her cousin was “killed” by police.

“LAPD has killed three people this year. One of them is my family member,” the self-described Marxist wrote on Instagram Monday, adding that Anderson was a father and a high school English teacher.

“Keenan deserves to be alive right now, his child deserves to be raised by his father. Keenan we will fight for you and for all of our loved ones impacted by state violence,” she continued.

“I love you,” she concluded, using the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.

The fatal incident was under investigation by the LAPD Force Investigation Division, according to police.

Illinois police save 9-year-old child drowning in icy pond

Police in a suburban Chicago town saved a child who was drowning in an icy pond on Wednesday.

The 9-year-old child fell into an icy retention pond on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. while trying to get a football, according to the Aurora Police Department. When officers got to the scene, they saw that an adult woman also went in the pond to save the child from drowning.

Officers went into the pond and saved both the woman and child and brought them back to land, officials said in a Facebook post.

The 9-year-old was sent to a local hospital with minor injuries after the incident, in addition to two police officers who rescued the child in the pond.

All individuals have been released from area hospitals.

In body camera video released by the police department, officers can be seen using a water rescue kit to bring both the child and adult back to land, while two officers went into the water.

In an interview released by the police department, the mother of the child drowning said that she thought her “son was not going to be here” when she saw him drowning.

“I want to thank all the people who rescued him,” the mother said.
