Oppo A79 5G Design Renders, Specifications Tipped Via Leaked Marketing Materials

Oppo A79 5G is expected to launch soon. The phone is said to succeed the Oppo A78 5G, which was released in India earlier this year in January. In a new report, a tipster has shared several key specifications of the purported Oppo A79 5G along with design renders from leaked promotional materials. Tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414) shared in an Appuals report that the Oppo A79 5G is likely to sport a 6.72-inch full-HD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) LCD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz, a peak brightness level of 680 nits, a screen-to-body-ratio of 91.4 percent, a contrast ratio of 1400:1 and 96 percent NTSC colour gamut.

Oppo’s upcoming smartphone is tipped to be powered by a MediaTekDimensity 6020 SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of inbuilt storage. The Oppo A79 5G is expected to be available in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. The storage is said to be expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card. The handset is expected to ship with Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1.

For optics, the Oppo A79 5G is said to include a dual rear camera unit with a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor and a secondary 2-megapixel Portrait OmniVision OVO2B1B 3P sensor. It is also tipped to come with an 8-megapixel OmniVision OVO8D sensor for selfies, that is expected to be placed centrally in a hole-punch slot at the top of the screen.

The fast charging feature will offer full charge to the handset in 74 minutes, according to the leaked marketing materials. The phone is tipped to feature a dual stereo speaker setup with an Ultra Volume mode. It is also said to support Screen Translate, Auto Pixelate, Photo Information, and Privacy Protection features.

In the leaked marketing materials, the handset is seen with a Glowing Feather Design and is said to come in two colour options – Glowing Green and Mystery Black. It is likely to arrive with a 36-month Fluency Protection certification, according to the report. The Oppo A79 5G is expected to measure 7.99mm in thickness and weigh 193 grams.

OnePlus to Unveil New BOE Display on October 24, Might Offer 3,000 Nits Brightness

OnePlus Open with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC was launched on Thursday (October 19) as the brand’s first foldable smartphone. Now, OnePlus is gearing up to unveil a new mobile phone screen. OnePlus and its BBK electronics subsidiary Oppo are joining hands with BOE to launch a new display on October 24. In a Weibo post on Friday, OnePlus announced that it will unveil a new display in partnership with BOE on October 24. The launch event named “Sunrise·East” will take place in Chongqing, China. OnePlus has equipped the Open foldable handset with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with an Adreno 740 GPU, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM. The company says that available memory on the smartphone can be expanded in increments of 4GB, 8GB, and 12GB by utilising unused storage on the handset.

For optics, the OnePlus Open has a Hasselblad-branded triple camera setup, comprising a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It has a 20-megapixel primary selfie camera and a 32-megapixel secondary camera on the outer screen. The OnePlus Open is equipped with 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage and houses a dual-cell 4,800mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC charging.

Oppo Find N2 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC debuted in China in December last year. Now, Oppo seems to be gearing up to unveil a new book-style foldable smartphone — the Oppo Find N3. Ahead of any official announcement, the Chinese variant of the upcoming Find series smartphone has allegedly surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking site. Vivo X90, iQoo 11 Set to Receive Android 14-Based Funtouch OS 14 With Improved Multitasking, Security Features

Both smartphone makers announced the rollout of Funtouch OS 14 to their smartphones via press releases on Friday, confirming that the update would arrive on the iQoo 11 on October 7, while the Vivo X90 would receive the update “later this month”. According to iQoo, eligible smartphones will begin to receive the update later this year or early next year, while Vivo states that the update will roll out to other devices after the Vivo X90.

With the Funtouch OS 14 update, users will see improved system performance with a new RAM Saver feature that is capable of keeping more apps active at the same time, by reducing the number of persistent processes and optimising up to 600MB of memory for handsets that have 8GB or more RAM. An App Retainer feature will also remember and restore the status of whitelisted apps when they are opened later.

Multitasking is also set to receive an upgrade with Funtouch OS 14, and users will be able to keep up to 12 small windows active in the background and access them easily while keeping their primary app open. These will include ride hailing apps, video apps, or chat applications and these apps can be switched with a single tap, according to a press release issued by the smartphone firms.

Just like Android 14 that was rolled out to Pixel smartphones on Wednesday, the Funtouch OS 14 update will introduce new personalisation and customisation options, such as the ability to customise the clock on the lock screen, new colour palettes and a new monochrome theme that is capable of saving power on the smartphone.

New security and privacy features are also making their way to users with the Funtouch OS 14 update — notifications won’t pop up when screen mirroring is enabled, and hidden photos will be protected by an additional password, according to the company.

Oppo A18 has been launched in India in a lone 4GB + 64GB variant priced at Rs. 9,999. The phone is available in Glowing Black and Glowing Blue colour options and can be purchased through the official Oppo online store and other retail stores across the country.

Oppo A18 comes with a 6.56-inch HD+ (1,612 x 720 pixels) IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness level of 720nits. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 SoC paired with Mali G52 MC2 GPU and ships with Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1.

For optics, there’s a dual rear camera unit on the Oppo A18 that includes an 8-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera has a 5-megapixel sensor placed in a centre-aligned waterdrop notch at the top of the display.

The smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery and features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, and USB Type-C. It also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone weighs 188 grams and measures 163.74mm x 75.03mm x 8.16mm in size.
