Khloé Kardashian subtly supports Tristan Thompson’s Lakers move

Khloé Kardashian “likes” Tristan Thompson being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The “Kardashians” star subtly supported her on-again, off-again beau by dropping a “like” on the NBA’s Instagram post that announced Thompson’s and Shaquille Harrison’s move.

News of Thompson’s trade comes just weeks after he purchased a mansion three doors down from Khloé’s Hidden Hills estate.

The athlete, who shares 4-year-old daughter True and an 8-month old baby boy with Khloé, signed the deed for the $12.5 million, 10,584-square-foot property in December 2022.

Neither Khloé nor Thompson publicly commented on his eyebrow-raising real estate move.

However, the Good American co-founder repeatedly has had to shut down reconciliation rumors in recent weeks and maintain that she’s “single.”

Despite telling fans and followers that she and Thompson, 32, aren’t romantically involved, the pair continue to spark rumors otherwise.

Just last week, the duo were spotted at a McDonald’s together grabbing a ton of food, but a source close to the former couple doubled down to Page Six that it wasn’t a romantic outing.

The NBA player was also invited to True’s birthday party last weekend and was seen mingling with the Kardashians and their friends.

In addition to the two children he shares with the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum, Thompson is also a father to 6-year-old son Prince, whom he co-parents with ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig, and 1-year-old son Theo, whose mother is Maralee Nichols.

While the former Chicago Bulls player was showering his daughter at her birthday party, Nichols took the opportunity to shade Thompson and the lavish display.

Despite the eyebrow-raising moves, Kardashian maintains she’s “single.”

“Happiness,” she wrote alongside the social media upload of Theo at the beach. “it’s the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary.”

Instagram users commented on the pointed caption, with one writing, “This one will grow up mentally healthy and happy in the natural world.”

Another added, “Simple is right!”

Meyers Leonard to work out for Lakers

Meyers Leonard, who has been gone from the NBA for nearly two years, will work out for the Lakers on Friday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported.

Leonard, who spent his first seven years with the Trail Blazers before two with the Heat, hasn’t been in the league since March 2021 when he used an anti-Semitic slur during a live video game stream. Miami suspended him indefinitely after the incident, then traded him to the Thunder as salary filler as part of the Trevor Ariza trade, with Oklahoma City immediately releasing the 7-footer.

He was ultimately suspended for a week by the NBA and fined $50,000 and later apologized.

With Anthony Davis still sidelined with a stress injury to his right foot, the Lakers have been looking for a big man to help with spacing — they are also working out former All-Star DeMarcus Cousins on Friday.

It’s also not the first time a player accused of anti-Semitism has been connected to the Lakers.

In the offseason, L.A. pursued a trade for Kyrie Irving. The Nets star was later suspended after linking to an anti-Semitic movie on social media.

Irving, who will be a free agent this summer, ended up missing eight games for the Nets amid the controversy and since his return has helped spark the Nets to the second-best record in the East.

Leonard, 30, last played in an NBA game on Jan. 9, 2021 against the Wizards and underwent ankle surgery in April of that year, then suffered from nerve damage in the bottom half of his right leg due to the procedure. He averaged 5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and shot 39 percent from the 3-point line for his career.

LeBron James’ Lakers fall to 0-4 after getting drubbed by Nuggets

DENVER — A LeBron James-led team doesn’t begin 0-4 often. Not since his rookie season has one of his teams stumbled out of the starting gate quite like this.

“It’s a new system. It’s a new group of guys together,” James explained. “We’re still trying to get familiar with one another.”

Nikola Jokic had 31 points and 13 rebounds, Jamal Murray hit a big 3-pointer and the Denver Nuggets kept the Los Angeles Lakers winless with a 110-99 victory Wednesday night.

The Lakers remain in the company of Orlando and Sacramento as the only teams yet to win this season.

“We’re four games and it sucks to lose, but we have 78 games left,” new Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. “It’s plenty of time for us to right the ship. And it starts now.”

Trailing by two moments into the second half, the Nuggets went on a 29-9 to grab control. The Lakers worked their way back and cut it to single digits in the fourth, but Murray hit a 3-pointer — his only one in seven attempts — for some breathing room.

Anthony Davis, dealing with lower back tightness, had 22 points and 14 rebounds for Los Angeles. LeBron James had 19 points to run his double-digit streak to 1,100 games. Russell Westbrook was held out to rest a sore left hamstring.

Jokic finished an assist shy of a triple-double. But it was the 31 points that caught Bruce Brown by surprise. He had no idea the back-to-back MVP erupted for that many.

“It was a quiet 31,” cracked Brown, who finished with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. “Nobody can guard him.”

For his big night, Jokic looks no further than James, who motivated him to keep laser focused.

“LeBron is the best player on the planet,” Jokic said. “I like to compete with the best.”

Struggling with his long-range jumper, Murray found his touch in close and finished with 13 points. He showed flashes of his explosiveness as he works his way back from a knee injury. He also received an early pep talk from coach Michael Malone.

“I just walked over to him in the huddle, gave him a big hug and said, ‘Hey, man, big picture. I believe in you. I love you. I know who you are, and I know where you’re going to be at some point,’” Malone said.

Late in the third quarter, the Nuggets saw Kentavious Caldwell-Pope turn his left ankle on a layup and leave for the locker room. He had 13 points.

It’s been a tough start for Lakers, who entered the game as the worst-shooting squad in the NBA. They shot 44.4 percent from the field against Denver.

It’s also been a tough beginning for Ham, the player-turned-coach who was brought on board over the summer after serving as an assistant in Milwaukee. Ham picked up a technical in the fourth quarter for arguing a call.

“Not really about any other team right now, scouts or schemes — just going out there and doing it for 48 minutes to get a win,” Davis said. “Whatever we’ve got to do. That’s the first step. We can build on that.”

Lakers trading for Jazz’s Patrick Beverley

Patrick Beverley is returning to Los Angeles – just with a different team.

The Jazz are trading the former Clippers wing to the Lakers for guard Talen Horton-Tucker and power forward Stanley Johnson in a deal expected to be finalized as soon as Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Beverley, who was actually drafted by the Lakers in the second round in 2009 but was quickly dealt, never got to play a game for the Jazz after being a part of the package that sent Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves in July.

The 34-year-old Beverley gives LeBron James and the Lakers a solid scorer and 3-point shooter and an excellent on-ball defender as they look to get back to the playoffs after missing the postseason all together a year ago. Beverley, who played four seasons with the Clippers, averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and shot 34.3 percent from 3-point range over 58 games with Minnesota last season.
