Veetla Vishesham OTT Release Date: RJ Balaji’s Remake of Badhaai Ho to Release July 15 on Zee5

Veetla Vishesham is set to premiere July 15 on Zee5, nearly a month after it opened in cinemas on June 17. It is the Tamil remake of the Ayushmann Khurrana-led Hindi comedy drama Badhaai Ho. The streaming platform made the official announcement with a tweet that read: “#VeetlaVishesham is premiering on #Zee5 Premium this July 15th. Launching the trailer today at 5pm on Zee5, stay tuned.” Zee5 also shared the official motion poster of Veetla Vishesham, featuring leading man RJ Balaji with his reel family, to give fans an idea of what is in store for them. The poster, however, didn’t clarify when Veetla Vishesham will drop on the platform. Zee5 originals usually drop around 12am but Veetla Vishesham is not an “original”.

Besides Balaji, the Veetla Vishesham cast includes Sathyaraj (Baahubali 2: The Conclusion), Urvashi (Putham Pudhu Kaalai), Aparna Balamurali (Theethum Nandrum), and the late K.P.A.C. Lalitha (Bheeshma Parvam). The movie was directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan off a screenplay the former wrote with “friends”. Boney Kapoor and Raahul serve as the producers for Veetla Vishesham.

Similar to Badhaai Ho, Veetla Vishesham revolves around a 26-year-old teacher who finds himself in an unusual situation when his parents get pregnant following an intimate moment. The movie received positive reviews with critics praising the sensitive screenplay and engaging performances. Veetla Vishesham collected nearly Rs. 9 crore at the worldwide box office on a budget of Rs. 7 crore to emerge as a commercial success.

For Kapoor, Veetla Vishesham was his fourth Tamil-language feature film as producer after the courtroom drama Nerkonda Paarvai, the action-thriller Valimai,and the Udhayanidhi Stalin-led poltical drama Nenjuku Needhi, a remake of Ayushmann Khurana’s Article 15. He is set to follow up Veetla Vishesham with the actioner AK 61.

For Balaji, Veetla Vishesham was his first release the fantasy drama Mookuthi Amman, which debuted on Disney+ Hotstar in 2020. Balaji currently has the delayed comedy drama Yung Mung Sung in his kitty.

Veetla Vishesham is out July 15 on Zee5.

Suzhal: Amazon Sets June 17 Release Date for Tamil-Language Thriller Web Series on Prime Video

Suzhal – The Vortex release date is out. On Friday at IIFA, Amazon Prime Video announced that the eight-episode crime-thriller Suzhal web series will premiere on June 17 in the original language Tamil alongside dubs in Hindi, English, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Amazon also shared a new poster from Suzhal – The Vortex to give fans a glimpse of what is in store for them. The Suzhal web series poster introduces us to the main characters without revealing anything about their backgrounds or motives. Newcomers Bramma and Anucharan M. direct off a script from showrunners Pushkar and Gayatri, who are best known for directing the 2017 gangster-thriller Vikram Vedha, and its upcoming Hindi remake of the same name.

Aishwarya Rajesh (Vada Chennai), Kathir (Bigil), and Sriya Reddy (Sometimes) headline the Suzhal – The Vortex cast with actor-director Radhakrishnan Parthiban (Oththa Seruppu Size 7) in a key role. Expect the action to be quite layered and intense, something that Pushkar and Gayatri indicated while talking about the plot.

They said in a prepared statement: “With a dark mystery at core, the story will have the viewers at the edge of their seats. Directors Bramma and Anucharan M. have done a tremendous job in keeping the pace of the narrative swift and intense. And our superb ensemble of actors has breathed life into the characters with their power packed performances.”

Suzhal – The Vortex comes at a time when Amazon Prime Video is trying to make in-roads into the Tamil market. The 2018 thriller series Vella Raja is regarded as the streaming platform’s first major attempt in that direction. It, however, received mixed reviews. The anthology movie Putham Pudhu Kaalai and its 2022 sequel Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa helped it get things back on track as they received critical acclaim. It remains to be seen whether Suzhal – The Vortex proves to be a memorable release from the platform and the industry.

Dhanush was supportive, Selvaraghavan’s direction helped me as actor: Elli AvrRam on Naane Varuven; EXCLUSIVE

Dhanush has completed filming for Selvaraghavan’s much-awaited film titled, Naane Varuven. The film will also see Bollywood actress Elli AvrRam making her Tamil debut. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, Elli, who recently wrapped up the shoot with Dhanush and the team, called it ‘the most challenging role’ of her career so far. 

“I was very nervous and excited, and after the first day of the shoot itself, I felt very good because Dhanush was really supportive and kind to me, and that meant a lot because he’s such a big superstar and a phenomenal actor. One can tend to get nervous but he just makes sure you’re comfortable and if there’s any concern, you can express it. Even Selvaraghavan Sir is so amazing, I’ve got to grow and express more as an actor under Sir’s direction. It’s been a dream and satisfaction as an actor and I really want to work with both again,” said Elli AvrRam as she shared her experience of working with National Award winner Dhanush and his director brother Selvaraghavan. 

Elli AvrRam will also be seen playing an important role in Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Goodbye. Sharing her experience of working with Big B and a big surprise by him on the last day of the shoot, Elli AvrRam said, “I think I still can’t digest the fact that I’m acting in a movie with the one and only Amitabh Bachchan! I used to dance to sirs song Shava Shava back home in Sweden, and today I’m acting with sir! It’s just surreal for me, and the cherry on the cake is when he surprised me and Rashmika at the wrap-up party, by holding our hand and playing his song! My heart literally skipped a beat at that moment.”
