Poco Teases Partnership With Airtel to Launch ‘Most Affordable 5G Device’ in India

Poco India Head, Himanshu Tandon has hinted at the arrival of a new budget 5G smartphone in the country. Tandon on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday (March 5) posted that Poco is extending its partnership with Airtel to launch a new handset. Poco released an Airtel-exclusive variant of the Poco C51 in July last year. It offers an Airtel Prepaid connection and includes exclusive benefits from Airtel. The handset runs on the MediaTek Helio G36 SoC and is backed by a 5,000mAh battery.

Himanshu Tandon teased Poco’s forthcoming handset as part of the partnership with Airtel. “Poco X Airtel’ another partnership! Coming soon!” he posted. It is claimed to be the most affordable 5G phone ever to be launched in India. While replying to comments on the posts, he said the upcoming smartphone will not be an “Airtel version” of an existing device, hinting at a new phone. However, when a user asked Tandon whether it would be the Airtel edition of Poco M6 5G, he replied “true”.

Poco launched the Poco C51 in April last year with a price tag of Rs. 8,499 for the sole 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The Airtel-exclusive version later debuted in July for Rs. 5,999. It comes bundled with an Airtel Prepaid connection and 50GB of one-time free mobile data.

The Poco C51 features a 6.52-inch HD+ (720×1,600 pixels) display with 120Hz touch sampling rate. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G36 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. The inbuilt RAM can be virtually expanded up to 7GB by using 3GB of unused storage.

It features a dual rear camera unit comprising a primary 8-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary depth sensor. The Poco C51 includes a 5-megapixel sensor at the front. It packs 64GB of onboard storage and is backed by a 5,000mAh battery.

Poco M6 Pro 5G Teased to Launch in India Soon, Will Offer Dual Rear Cameras

Poco on Monday (July 31) confirmed the arrival of the new Poco M6 Pro 5G smartphone in India. The Xiaomi sub-brand shared a teaser on social media to offer clear hints about the design of the upcoming handset. The Poco M6 Pro 5G is shown in cyan colour with a dual rear camera setup. Poco has not revealed the exact launch date of the 5G handset. However, given the release of the teaser, the launch could be just around the corner. The Poco M6 Pro 5G is expected to come as a successor to Poco M4 Pro 5G that debuted in the country in February last year.

Poco India Head, Himanshu Tandon, via a Tweet, announced the arrival of Poco M6 Pro 5G in the country. The post doesn’t specify the exact launch date of the smartphone but, it is shown with a ‘Ready to disrupt the 5G game’ tag and ‘coming soon’ hashtag.

The teaser images show the phone from the back in a cyan colour with curved panels. It seems quite similar to the Poco M4 Pro 5G, with the same rectangular-shaped camera module and dual-tone design. It is seen carrying a dual rear camera unit alongside an LED flash. It also has Poco branding at the rear.

Poco M6 Pro 5G is expected to come with upgrades over last year’s Poco M4 Pro 5G. The latter was unveiled in February last year with a price tag of Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The 6GB + 128GB configuration carries a price tag of Rs. 16,999 and a top-end 8GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs. 18,999.

The Poco M4 Pro 5G features 6.6-inch full-HD+ Dot Display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, along with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The handset has a dual rear camera setup that houses a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. For selfies, the phone is equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor at the front that is paired with an f/2.45 lens. It packs up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage that supports expansion via microSD card (up to 1TB) and is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W Pro fast charging.

Poco F5 India Launch Teased, RAM and Storage Configurations Revealed: All Details

Poco F5 may launch soon in India. The handset recently appeared on benchmarking website including Geekbench suggesting its possible specifications, which could include Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, 8GB RAM, and Android 13 operating system. Most recently, Poco India Head, Himanshu Tandon has hinted at its arrival in India. Tandon on Twitter described the upcoming handset with five words that start with the letter ‘F’. He already confirmed that the next smartphone from the brand will debut in two RAM and storage options — 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB.

Himanshu Tandon on Thursday took to Twitter to hint about Poco’s forthcoming handset. He described the upcoming handset in five words that start with the letter ‘F’ as fast, finetuned, fearless, fantastic, and futuristic. This could be a reference to the Poco F5.

Earlier today, he teased the RAM and storage configuration of the Poco F5 without confirming the moniker. He confirmed that the next Poco smartphone will be offered in 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants.

Recently, a Poco smartphone said to be the Poco F5 with model number 23013PC75G showed up on the Geekbench website with 1,118 points in single-core testing and 4,236 points in multi-core testing. The listing suggested Android 13, 8GB RAM, and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC on the upcoming phone.

The Poco F5 5G is likely to succeed the Poco F4 5G in India. It is speculated to debut as a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. If this rumour holds any weight, then the specifications of the Poco F5 5G could be identical to that of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo was launched in China in March with a starting price tag of CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 23,900) for the base 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. It features a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (2,400 x1,080) AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. A Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, 64-megapixel triple rear cameras, 16-megapixel selfie sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support are the other specifications of the handset.
