Cincinnati Bengal Joe Mixon’s house cordoned off by police

Police surrounded the home of Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon after deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the area late Monday night, Fox 19 Now reported.

No arrests were made and the scene has since been cleared. Mixon’s involvement in the incident is still unknown.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. in Anderson Township, an area about 13 miles southeast of downtown Cincinnati.

The outlet reported that police confirmed a juvenile was taken to a hospital with “minor injuries.”

The running back’s sister, Shalonda Mixon, says that Mixon was not involved in the shooting of the juvenile, WLWT News 5 in Cincinnati reported.

Crime scene tape was stretched across two houses, one of which was Mixon’s home, the outlet confirmed through court documents, and one piece of evidence was marked in the home’s yard while deputies were investigating the scene.

Deputies from Hamilton County Sheriff’s department were seen banging on Mixon’s door around 11:30 p.m. to identify themselves and were giving commands for the homeowner to come out.

At 12:15 a.m., police allowed a car to drive up the home’s driveway.

Police were then seen entering Mixon’s home at around 1:40 a.m., the outlet reported.

At around 3:30 a.m., deputies were seen taking down the crime scene tape and began leaving the scene. They confirmed that one person was in the house, Fox 19 Now reported.

Mixon, 26, was drafted out of the University of Oklahoma by the Cinincianti Bengals in the second round of the 2017 draft. He is going into the third year of his four-year, $48 million contract with the Bengals.

On Jan. 21, 2023, the NFL star had an arrest warrant out for one count of aggravated menacing after he was accused of pointing a gun at a woman in Cincinnati. That warrant has since been dismissed.

In 2017, Mixon reached a civil settlement with a woman that he punched in the face as a recruit at Oklahoma. Mixon was suspended for the entire 2014 college season as a result of the incident.

Bengals dominate Bills to earn trip to AFC Championship

The Bengals are back in the AFC Championship game as the Bills again fall a game short.

Cincinnati dominated Buffalo in a 27-10 win in a snow-filled divisional round game at Highmark Stadium on Sunday. The Bengals get a rematch with the Chiefs in Kansas City next Sunday with a return trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Buffalo, which got an emotional lift from having Damar Hamlin in attendance, will be sent home early for a second straight year.

Bengals’ Sam Hubbard sets record with 98-yard fumble recovery

Ninety-eight yards of running earned Sam Hubbard a spot in NFL history.

The Bengals defensive end returned a fumble from the team’s own 2-yard-line all the way into the end zone for a touchdown to give Cincinnati a 24-17 lead over the Ravens early in the fourth quarter of the teams’ wild-card matchup.

Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley attempted a quarterback sneak on third-and-goal from the 1-yard line. He subsequently tried to leap and stretch the ball over the plane. As he stretched the ball out, however, Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson met him in the air and ripped the ball out.

Hubbard scooped the ball up at the 2-yard line and sprinted 98 yards for the touchdown. It’s the longest fumble recovery in NFL postseason history.

Huntley pleaded with the referees after the play, convinced that he broke the plane when he stretched out his arm.

According to a chip in the ball used by NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Huntley had the ball 0.6 yards away from crossing the plane and a go-ahead touchdown. Instead, he paved the way for the Bengals’ potential decisive score.

Former NFL star Chad Johnson tips $1,000 at IHOP before Tennessee football game

Former NFL star Chad Johnson is leading by example.

With A-list celebrities under fire recently for their treatment of restaurant staff, Johnson left a Tennessee restaurant with an unforgettable tip.

The 44-year-old dined at an IHOP near the University of Tennessee ahead of the Kentucky-Tennessee football game on Saturday night, where his bill totaled $14 for his meal.

The former Cincinnatti Bengal said he’d never been to the area before and left the staff with $1,000, a tip of 7,100 percent.

“It’s my first time in the Ville (Knoxville),” Johnson wrote in a note on the check. “Going to the game tonight but I don’t know the Rocky Top song (sad face).”

“OchoCinco” is no stranger to leaving a larger-than-life tip.

Johnson’s tipping adventures on Twitter go back to February 2019, when he tipped a gracious $100 on an $18.17 check at Bahama Breeze, the Caribbean-themed chain restaurant.

He would often leave the Bible verse “Proverbs 11:25” with each post.

Sometimes the receipts have nice messages on them, such as “Rent increase sucks, this should help, vote Ocho 2024,” which was accompanied with a $2,000 tip.

“It’s just something I always do, regardless of where I am, regardless of what restaurant or the service, I always take care of those who are serving me,” Johnson told The Post last year.

Johnson has been tipping generously for the last 20 years.

Other times Johnson likes to give some life updates such as one on April 3, 2019: “I lost in FIFA yesterday.” and on two separate occasions proclaiming “I am the best FIFA player in the world.”

On almost every single receipt, Johnson will write “I Love You” as a sign of gratitude aside from the gigantic gratuity.

Receiver David Sills has big showing in Giants’ preseason win

Three takeaways from the Giants’ 25-22 preseason win over the Bengals on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium:

Sill Yeah!

How about David Sills? A mainstay on the practice squad the past three years, Sills makes plays every summer in camp and he came up big in preseason game No. 2. Sills caught Daniel Jones passes of 12, 20 and 14 yards on a second-quarter touchdown drive and finished the first half with five catches for 56 yards.

Back in Form

Azeez Ojulari made his preseason debut this summer after missing the first three weeks of camp with a strained hamstring. It did not take long for Ojulari, who led the Giants with eight sacks in 2021, to make a difference. He induced offensive lineman D’Ante Smith into a holding penalty in the first quarter and looked spry.

Center of Attention

So, what happened at the center position? Max Garcia, a guard, started because the other five players ahead of him at center on the depth chart are all hurt. There were no center-quarterback exchange issues when Garcia was in the game. He was replaced in the third quarter by Will Holden, a 6-foot-7 tackle.
