New York Giants’ Joe Schoen scouting Caleb Williams at USC Pro Day

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen will continue his due diligence ahead of the 2024 NFL draft on Wednesday when he attends the USC Pro Day.

Schoen will get a firsthand look at quarterback Caleb Williams, who is widely expected to go first overall, as well as other draft hopefuls.

The Giants also recently met with Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy and previously held a top-30 visit with Drake Maye.

New York holds the No. 6 overall selection in April’s draft and they’ve kept a close eye on quarterbacks. They’ve also spent a significant amount of time scouting and meeting with the top wide receiver prospects.

Both quarterback and wide receiver are positions of need for the Giants and depending on how things play out ahead of them, Schoen could go in either direction. He has also made calls about possibly trading up and down.

It’s unlikely that any scenario plays out in which the Giants have a shot at Williams.

What we learned from New York Giants’ 49-17 loss to Dallas Cowboys

The loss in Dallas dropped the Giants to 2-8 on the year and into the No.2 overall spot in next year’s NFL draft order behind 1-8 Carolina.

The Panthers’ pick, of course, is held by Chicago, who will likely take a quarterback with the pick. The Giants, after watching Daniel Jones succumb to not one, but two injuries this season, will almost have to take a QB as well.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams is projected to be the top pick in the draft. Right now, he’s got to be thrilled to be heading to one of the country’s two biggest cities.

Or is he? Both the Giants and the Bears are hot messes. If you think he’s doing a lot of crying now, wait until he gets to one of these teams.
