Pelicans General Manager David Griffin has addressed recent rumors and speculations surrounding Zion Williamson, asserting that the team has no intentions of parting ways with their young star.

In a conversation with Justin Termine of SiriusXM NBA Radio, Griffin emphasized that the organization never engaged in any discussions regarding Williamson’s availability, despite the ongoing noise and media attention surrounding his injuries.

Griffin further explained that other teams recognize the significance of the 23-year-old power forward to the Pelicans franchise and understand the value he brings to the team. As a result, they did not approach the Pelicans with trade proposals, as they were aware that the team had no intention of moving their prized asset.

“No, we didn’t,” Griffin said, via HoopsHype. “And I think one of the reasons for that is people understand who he is to our franchise and what he allows us to do. So people don’t tend to call you and chase things that they know you’re not gonna do.”

These comments from Griffin provide reassurance to Pelicans fans, putting to rest any concerns about the team’s commitment to Williamson. The organization remains fully committed to the young superstar and values his impact on the court. With a healthy Williamson, the Pelicans look forward to building around him and achieving success in the upcoming season.
