New York Giants sign LB Matthew Adams

The New York Giants continued addressing their roster depth this week, specifically focusing on special teams, signing former Cleveland Browns linebacker Matthew Adams.

The 28-year-old Adams was originally a seventh-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2018 NFL draft. He also had a stint with the Chicago Bears (2022) before spending last season with the Browns.

In 85 career games (13 starts), Adams has recorded 98 tackles (68 solo, eight for a loss), two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two QB hits.

In 2021 and 2023, Adams was named to the Pro Football Focus All-Pro First Team (both as a special teamer).

Adams appeared in all 17 games last season, taking 97 defensive snaps and 435 special teams snaps.

PFF gave Adams an overall grade of 44.2 in 2023, including a pass rush grade of 73.7. He also earned a special teams grade of 86.8, which led the Browns and was 24th league-wide.
