The NBA Board of Governors has approved two new gameplay changes for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Shams Charania broke the story, revealing the details of these rule alterations.

The first change addresses the issue of flopping in the game. Going forward, players who engage in flopping will face in-game penalties, resulting in a technical foul free throw for the opposing team. This move aims to deter players from exaggerating contact and deceiving officials, ultimately promoting fair play and integrity on the court.

The second change pertains to coach’s challenges. Previously, teams were granted only one challenge per game. However, the new rule allows for a second coach’s challenge if the first challenge is successful. This adjustment acknowledges the importance of getting crucial calls right and ensures that coaches have an opportunity to challenge additional plays that may impact the outcome of the game.
