Manchester United totally dominate the official Carabao Cup XI of the first leg – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United were dominantly represented in the official Carabao Cup team of the first leg.

United eased past Nottingham Forest yesterday night to put themselves firmly in control ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford.

United got their goals through Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst and Bruno Fernandes.

Rashford opened the score after a brilliant run which also saw him take on two defenders before firing the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.

Weghorst got on the end of a parried shot by the Forest goalkeeper to double United’s lead just before the break.

A goal from Bruno Fernandes late into the game sealed the deal for the Red Devils on what was a perfect night at the City Ground.

In the official XI of the Carabao Cup team of the first leg, United were represented by nine players.

Only two players, each from Southampton and Newcastle, were not United stars.

David de Gea made the list, as was his entire back four, consisting of man-of-the-match Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bisaka and Tyrell Malacia.

Christian Eriksen was the only member of United’s trio that did not make the official XI, with Southampton’s Ibrahima Diallo instead preferred next to Fernandes and Casemiro.

Unsurprisingly, Rashford and Weghorst made up the attack which also consisted of Newcastle’s Joelinton. Like Eriksen, Antony also missed out.

With United all but assured of being in Wembley for the final, they will find out who will be standing in their way when the Magpies host Southampton at St James’ Park.

Newcastle are currently a goal ahead in the tie, but certainly, not an impossible task for The Saints to recover.
