Kevin Durant on Michael Porter Jr.: “He’s an X factor”

The Suns and the Nuggets are set to open the Western Conference Semifinals tonight in Denver. One of the key pieces for the hosts in Michael Porter Jr. who has been compared Kevin Durant.

Ahead of the game the two-time NBA champion was asked about his opponent. Durant called Porter an X factor.

“I always was high on him,” KD said about Porter. “In high school he was viewed as the best player in the country. I think his injury was the reason why he dropped so low and Denver was lucky enough to draft him. It was 14th or 15th pick.

“But he always had the potential to be a great player. Got healthy now, got opportunity to play with a team that’s playing for something, playing meaningful basketball every year, got a Hall of Famer with you as well makes the game a little easier.

“The sky’s the limit for him. He’s still young in the game. He’s still athletic after the surgery. Hopefully he has a quiet series this series. He’s playing great. He’s an X factor.”

Porter is averaging 16.4 points and 8.2 rebounds in 36 minutes in this year’s playoffs.
