Clippers expected to name Reggie Jackson as starting PG in 22-23 season
The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to announce the insertion of Reggie Jackson to their starting lineup this upcoming season (h/t Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports).
His inclusion gives him the opportunity to start with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, with the remaining two spots at the frontcourt to be filled by Marcus Morris Sr. and Ivica Zubac.
The Clippers have been contemplating who to start at the point since the inclusion of John Wall last offseason. It was evident earlier this week when coach Ty Lue had no idea who to lead the team’s ball handling assignment.
Leaning to Jackson is a much safer choice to pick given his familiarity to the club. He started in all of his 75 appearances last season for the Clippers while averaging 16.8 points, 4.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds per 31.2 minutes of play.
Given Wall’s long history of injury issues and being out for two of the last three NBA seasons, appointing him to lead the team’s second unit is very much reasonable in the long run.
As the Clippers continue their hunt to clinch that elusive title, the presence, awareness and sacrifice of these two floor generals will stand integral. They will start their potential championship journey on Oct. 20 against crosstown rival L.A. Lakers.
