Andre Iguodala recalls pushing Jordan Poole to play defense
Four-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala recently shared amusing insights into his efforts to motivate Jordan Poole to elevate his defensive game during their time as teammates.
Poole, who was traded to the Washington Wizards in the Chris Paul trade earlier this offseason, had become a key offensive contributor for the Warriors. However, Iguodala noticed that Poole occasionally let his defensive efforts slip.
During an appearance on the “Old Man and The Three” podcast, Iguodala humorously recounted his attempts to inspire Poole to put more energy into his defensive plays.
“I would tell him, ‘Jordan, you’re trying not to try. Do you know how much energy it takes to try not to try? It takes less energy to try,’” Iguodala recalled.
