Alan Shearer attacks Jadon Sancho on Twitter during Manchester United’s game with Newcastle United – Man United News And Transfer News

Alan Shearer launched an expletive attack on Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho, during United’s game with Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

As reported in The Mirror, Shearer accused Sancho of diving to attempt to win a penalty in the second half of the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

Not famed for his glowing relationship with United, the ex-Newcastle striker took to Twitter to make his feelings known.

Although Shearer feels Sancho took a dive, replays show there was contact between Sancho and Sean Longstaff and United can feel aggrieved they weren’t granted a spot kick.

To add to the frustration referee Craig Pawson wasn’t advised to take a look at the pitchside monitor, in a game that didn’t prove to be one of his finest.

Newcastle themselves felt they had a strong case for a penalty when Raphael Varane collided with Callum Wilson in the first half – again, no review.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also left aggrieved, feeling as though he was also fouled in the box by Keiran Tripper and having a goal chalked off for a controversial ball live, or not live, incident with a Newcastle free kick. There was no review on either call by Pawson and VAR, Jared Gillet.

United boss Erik ten Hag refused to directly comment on the officiating but did seem frustrated by the performance of Pawson.

“I don’t have a comment, everyone has seen it. You can try [asking] but everyone has seen the game.” he said.

Although the FA have charged United for failing to control their players after the Ronaldo disallowed goal, they don’t seem to have reviewed Pawson’s performance particularly favourably, with him demoted to officiating a Championship game last night.

After the weekend’s stalemate, United will look to get back to winning ways as they continue their tough week of fixtures, welcoming Antonio Conte’s Tottenham to Old Trafford, this evening.
