When Chris Paul was traded to the Wizards in the Bradley Beal trade, many assumed that the veteran point guard will end up with the Lakers and team up with his friend LeBron James.

According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, that is not guaranteed to happen. He thinks that the Clippers may have the edged over their city rivals in getting their former player back.

“A lot of people I’ve noticed have left with the conclusion that it’s going to be the Lakers… But from conversation I’ve had I don’t that it should be assumed,” Windhorst said on NBA Today. “I think that the LA Clippers are a strong candidate, and I would go so far as to say that they may have the edge here in trying to get Chris Paul if he becomes a free agent…

“I think if the Lakers want to “win” this, if that’s what they’re trying to do, they’re going to have some work to do to convince Chris Paul that’s the best fit for him,” he concluded.
