That’s what many fans are wondering following the release of I Said I Love You First, her collaborative project with fiancé Benny Blanco. One track in particular, “You Said You Were Sorry,” sparked speculation the “Look at Her Now” singer was addressing her ex, whom she dated on and off between 2010 and 2018.
“Don’t think about you / Happy without you,” Selena sings on the track. “More now than I ever was.”
During the chorus, the 32-year-old describes an emotional reunion with an ex who goes unnamed—and while she pointed out that the exchange was merely a fantasy, that seemed to be good for her.
“But I had a dream / You said you were sorry, said you were sorry / Sorry for everything / That you put on me, that you put on me,” Selena sings. “Our eyes were bawling rain / We finally both forgave ya / I had a dream, that’s all it was / Yeah, that was enough for me.”
