For many basketball fans, owning an autograph from the legendary Michael Jordan would be a dream come true. However, there is one remarkable exception to this rule, and it involves Knicks’ point guard, Jalen Brunson.

During his time with the Wizards, MJ offered to sign a jersey for a young Jalen. At the time, Brunson was just five years old, and the offer came as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Surprisingly, Brunson turned down the chance to have his Wizards jersey autographed by the basketball icon. The reason behind this unexpected decision sheds light on the innocence and purity of a child’s perspective.

Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN recently revealed the heartwarming backstory during an interview with Rick Brunson, Jalen’s father.

Young Jalen, with an innocence that only a child could possess, didn’t recognize the magnitude of Jordan’s fame. Instead, he believed that Jordan’s signature would somehow “ruin the jersey.”

“Jalen Brunson doesn’t know who Michael Jordan is and said, ‘No, you’ll ruin the jersey,’” Youngmisuk revealed on NBA Today.
