Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 Tipped to Get Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Upgraded Quad Rear Cameras

According to a report by Android Headlines, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 was spotted with model number “24072PX77C” and the codename “goku’ in a database. It reportedly has “N18” as the internal model number. The handset is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is expected to feature a quad-camera system that is similar to the Mix Fold 3. The camera setup could be headlined by a 1/1.55-inch 50-megapixel Omnivision “Light Hunter 800” sensor as the primary sensor. The Chinese smartphone maker used the same camera in the Redmi K70 Pro. The rumoured Xiaomi Mix Flip is also believed to be equipped with the same OmniVision sensor.

The company could use the 1/2.8-inch 60-megapixel OmniVision OV60A sensor and 13-megapixel OV13B sensor with 1/3-inch sensor size on the Mix Fold 4 with 2x optical zoom. For comparison, last year’s Mix Fold 3 had a 3.2x telephoto camera. The upcoming model could also get a 1/3.94-inch 10-megapixel S5K3K1 sensor from Samsung with support for 5x optical zoom.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is tipped to pack a 16-megapixel OV16F selfie camera on the inner and cover screen. It is said to offer improved screen resolution over its predecessor. Further, the report claims that the new foldable phone will be limited to the Chinese market. The purported Mix Flip, in contrast, is anticipated to be launched in China and global markets excluding India and Japan.

The smartphone maker is tipped to unveil the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 sometime in August and this year’s launch window is in line with previous models launched by the company — the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 debuted in August 2023. The current generation book-style foldable runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and features four Leica-branded rear cameras.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 SoC, Camera, Battery, More Details Leaked; Said to Get Up to 16GB RAM

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 may launch in China soon. The model is expected to succeed the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, which was unveiled in August 2023. Although the company is yet to confirm the existence of this handset or any of its details, key features of the anticipated book-style foldable smartphone have surfaced online. A tipster has leaked several key specifications of the Mix Fold 4 including chipset and charging.

Tipster Digital Chat Station claimed in a Weibo post (via) that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 gen 3 SoC and will be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of onboard storage. It is said to be equipped with a custom x-axis linear motor and come with a lesser crease on the inner foldable display compared to the preceding model.

In the camera department, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is tipped to feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a new periscope lens. The tipster did not hint at other camera details. He noted that the handset will likely support two-way satellite communication.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is said to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired fast charging. It may also carry an IP rating for splash resistance but the tipster did not specify the exact certification. The handset is expected to weigh less than the older model that weighed around 255g. The upcoming model could weigh between 220g and 240g.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 has an 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED LTPO inner panel and a 6.56-inch full-HD+ AMOLED cover screen. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and ships with Android 13-based MIUI 14. It is backed by a 4,800mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

For optics, the front camera of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 carries a 20-megapixel sensor. The quad rear camera unit, on the other hand, includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800 primary sensor, a 13-megapixel sensor paired with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter, and a 10-megapixel periscope camera.

A successor to Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, the latest foldable offers two colour variants — Moon Shadow Black and Xingyao Gold. The price for the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 starts at CNY 8,999 (nearly Rs. 1,03,000) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model. On the other hand, the 16GB RAM and 512GB model is priced at CNY 9,999 (nearly Rs. 1,14,500), while the high-end variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is marked at CNY 10,999 (nearly Rs. 1,26,600).

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3: Specifications

The latest foldable from Xiaomi features a primary 8.03-inch foldable E6 AMOLED LTPO display, and it has a 6.56-inch AMOLED cover display with FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is powered by an octa-core flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. It runs MIUI 14 based on Android 13. The foldable’s hinge supports from 45 degrees to 135 degrees hover opening.

The smartphone is claimed to be slimmer than its predecessor, and measures 4.93mm in thickness when unfolded, which increases to 9.8mm when folded.
