Vivo X100 Ultra Camera Details Revealed; Confirmed to Get Samsung’s ISOCELL HP9 Sensor

Vivo X100 Ultra is all set to go official on May 13 and the Chinese tech brand has posted camera samples online to hype up its camera prowess. Additionally, Vivo’s Vice President Jia Jingdong has revealed the camera specifications of the flagship phone. The Vivo X100 Ultra will come with Samsung’s 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP9 camera sensor at the rear. It will also feature Sony’s latest Lytia LYT-900, a 1-inch sensor. The Vivo X100 Ultra will be unveiled alongside the Vivo X100S and Vivo X100s Pro.

Jia Jingdong, through a Weibo post, announced that the Vivo X100 Ultra will be equipped with Samsung’s 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP9 sensor. This sensor is believed to be jointly developed by Vivo and Samsung. It is claimed to be the world’s strongest periscope telephoto lens, which enhances clarity and sharpness, and restores natural colours. This periscope telephoto sensor comes with Zeiss APO certification.

Further, the Vivo X100 Ultra’s camera unit will also include Sony’s 1-inch LYT900 50-megapixel sensor with CIPA 4.5 level gimbal image stabilisation. This CIPA level 4.5 is claimed to be the most advanced anti-shake standard presently and it is said to detect handshakes and quickly calculates shake data in real time.

Vivo has officially shared camera samples on Weibo, providing a glimpse of the upcoming Vivo X100 Ultra’s camera capabilities. The handset was developed internally by Vivo under the codename “Thanos.”

Additionally, a Chinese media outlet reports that Vivo employs second-generation VCS technology to optimise pixel light sensitivity in the Vivo X100 Ultra. It reportedly uses the industry’s only fluorite-grade glass lens, FCD100, with an Abbe number as high as 95 for improved image quality. FCD100 was reportedly previously used in Sony’s professional cameras. The handset is believed to feature a third 50-megapixel LYT600 ultra-wide-angle rear camera. It could also get a 50-megapixel ISOCELL JN1 selfie camera with support for 4K video capturing at 60 frames per second.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ Chipset Confirmed to Launch on May 7, Could get AI Capabilities

MediaTek has finally pulled aside the curtains on its much anticipated Dimensity 9300+ chipset. The company has announced that the new processor will be unveiled on May 7 at its developers conference. While the silicon giant did not mention any details about the processor, it is expected to offer higher specifications compared to the standard Dimensity 9300 SoC. It is also expected to feature AI capabilities, given that the event itself is geared towards AI. Notably, the Vivo X100s is rumoured to launch soon with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+.

The announcement was made on a Weibo post (via GSMArena), where the company also listed details about the MediaTek Dimensity Developers Conference (MDDC) 2024. The MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset will be unveiled during the event next Tuesday. It also teased “more surprises” for the event but did not disclose what they might be. Notably, the company has picked the hashtag “#AIeverything” for the event.

While details about the chipset are not known from official sources, an earlier leak by a tipster on Weibo (via innoGyan) suggested some of its specifications. As per the tipster, the processor will be equipped with an upgraded Cortex-X4 core with a clock speed of 3.4GHz as opposed to 3.25GHz on the standard Dimensity 9300.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ is also tipped to feature an AI Processing Unit or APU. While no details are known, it is believed to be a tweaked Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which is commonly used for AI computing. The chipset is expected to power on-device processing for AI features being created by smartphone brands and Android developers.

As per an earlier report, the Vivo X100s could be one of the first smartphones to be equipped with the new chipset. Part of the Vivo X100 series, the upcoming handset is expected to be unveiled soon alongside the Vivo X100s Pro and the Vivo X100 Ultra. The X100s could sport a Zeiss-branded ring-shaped rear camera island and a flat frame. Further, the back panel could get a textured finish.

Now, Vivo is reportedly considering adding the Vivo X100s Pro and Vivo X100s to this lineup. The Chinese smartphone brand hasn’t confirmed the existence of these models, but ahead of it, the phones have appeared on various certification sites, hinting at imminent arrival. The Vivo X100s Pro has allegedly been spotted on the Google Play Console listing with the PD2324 model number, whereas the Vivo X100s has reportedly surfaced on the website of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

MySmartPrice has spotted the listing of the Vivo X100s Pro on Google Play Console with model number PD2324. The listing shows some specifications, including an octa-core MT6989 (MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC) SoC, alongside Mali G720 GPU and up to 16GB of RAM. As per the screenshots of the listing shared by the publication, the smartphone will offer 5G connectivity and have an Andorid operating system. However, it doesn’t provide any further details. A previous 3C listing suggested that the phone will get 120W fast charging and support UFCS-integrated charging.

Although the launch timeline for Vivo X100s Pro and Vivo X100s is still not confirmed by Vivo, the listings on the Google Play Console and MIIT sites suggest that they could be announced in the coming days.

Vivo X100s With Flat Display Could Launch Alongside Vivo X100 Pro+ Next Year: Report

After the launch of Vivo’s X100 series in China, which includes the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro smartphones, Vivo now seems to be gearing up to launch two more phones as a part of its X100 lineup. While we have been hearing about the expected launch of the Vivo X100 Pro+ (also tagged as the Vivo X100 Ultra), it now seems that Vivo may also planning to announce a new Vivo X100s model. There was not much known about this mystery handset until a tipster leaked details about it along with its launch timeline.

A report by GizmoChina (citing prominent tipster Digital Chat Station) claims that Vivo will announce another model apart from the expected ultra-premium Vivo X100 Pro+. The tipster reportedly stated that this model will be called the Vivo X100s.

The report goes on to explain that the new model will essentially be the same phone as the Vivo X100. It’s just that the X100s will have a flat display, while the rest of the internal hardware remains the same. This also hints that the Vivo X100s could be priced lower than the currently announced Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro models.

As per the same source, the Vivo X100s will be announced around the same time, or alongside the Vivo X100 Pro+. The Vivo X100 Pro+ could also be called the Vivo X100 Ultra this year. The recently announced Vivo X100 has a curved-edge display in comparison. It was announced alongside the Vivo X100 Pro model, which is currently the best that Vivo has to offer in terms of smartphone imaging.

The Vivo X100 has a 6.78-inch (1,260 x 2,800 pixels) AMOLED 8T LTPO curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone has a Dimensity 9300 SoC and offers up to 16GB of RAM. Just like the Pro model, this one also has Vivo’s V3 imaging chip. For optics, the phone has a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with 100X hybrid zoom capability. Selfies are handled by a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 120W wired charging support and also offers an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
