Telegram Stories With Support for Editing, Dual Camera Mode and More Rolled Out for All Users

Telegram on Monday announced that Stories are now available to all users. The tool was initially introduced to Premium subscribers last month and is now accessible to all users on the platform. This feature comes with certain tweaks and enhancements compared to the ones found on rival social media platforms. Alongside new privacy settings, the social media platform is also introducing a new camera feature that can be used while posting Stories. While all users also can get more detailed statistics than any other platforms, Telegram Premium users are also offered a unique Stealth mode on Telegram.

In a blog post, Telegram announced the rollout of the Stories feature to all its users. Claiming that this was one of the most requested features on the platform, the platform said that the development took several months as it added refinements to the feature found on almost every social media platform including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Signal, and WhatsApp

Users will be able to see Stories in an expandable section at the top of the screen. A quick tap on a story will allow them to share, reply privately or react to it. One tap will send a heart emoji reaction, while a long press will allow users to choose from a range of other emojis to react with.

A significant upgrade to the Stories feature is a new dual-mode camera that allows users to post a single story using both the rear and front cameras. This provides a picture-in-picture-like layout that we get during video calls. Users will be able to take a photo or a video using the rear camera and most of the screen will be covered with that image or video, while the output recorded using the front camera will appear in a smaller circle on the top left corner of the screen.

Like Instagram, Telegram will allow users to add text, drawings, stickers and location tags to their stories. Users can also add additional images from their gallery or search for any GIF options to add to the story. The new update also supports captions – where users can put in longer text descriptions, tag friends or add links.

Privacy settings in Telegram have been updated with granular controls and the app offers four sub-sections — Everyone, My Contacts, Close Friends and Selected Contacts. These can be further customised, according to Telegram. Users can also select contacts who will never be able to view any of their stories. By default, the stories from someone’s contacts will appear on their profile.

The time that a story stays up can also be decided by the users. It can be 6, 12, 24 or 48 hours and they can also post the stories to their profile where both old and new connections will be able to view the stories in a grid-like format.

Another major update with the Telegram story feature is that, unlike any other platform, users can edit their stories. Once posted, changing any single element of a story is not permitted on Instagram, for instance. One has to delete the story, make wanted changes and then reupload the story. However, Telegram, with this update allows users to edit any element of their story at any time – from its visibility, caption, on-screen text, stickers or anything else.

Users can view read receipts of their stories and sort them by recent views first or reactions first. Telegram Premium subscribers are allowed to enable Stealth Mode – which erases their views from any stories they opened in the 5 minutes previous to enabling the mode, and hide what they view for the next 25 minutes.

Telegram Premium Price in India Slashed by More Than 60 Percent: All Details

Telegram Premium — the popular messaging app’s monthly subscription service — is now cheaper for users in India. The Dubai-based company has officially announced a change in pricing for India via its messaging service, and the revised cost is already reflected on the app. The reduction in pricing for users in India comes months after Telegram introduced a premium, paid tier that added improved functionality and new features, from more channels and accounts to faster download speeds, as part of efforts to raise revenue.

Over the weekend, Telegram sent notifications to users that read: Telegram Premium is now available in your country at a discount. Premium subscribers unlock dozens of exclusive features. A Gadgets 360 staff member also received the message informing them of the change in pricing. The company is yet to officially announce whether it has cut pricing for Telegram Premium in other regions.

A subscription to Telegram Premium in India now costs Rs. 179 a month, which is well over 60 percent lower than the price of the service when it was launched globally in June. Until last week, users had to pay Rs. 469 a month, which is considerably higher than the revised price.

Back in June, the company had announced that the service has over 700 million monthly active users. The service competes with popular messaging apps WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, which have over 2 billion and over 1 billion active users, respectively. Both of Meta’s messaging services do not currently offer paid subscriptions.

Users in India who subscribe to Telegram Premium will have access to larger 4GB file uploads, faster downloads, and the ability to convert voice messages into text, among other features.

Telegram Premium Paid Subscription Plan to Launch This Month, Says Founder Pavel Durov

Messaging app Telegram will launch a paid subscription plan for its users this month, founder Pavel Durov said on Friday.

Users who will opt for Telegram Premium will get a higher limit for chats, media and file uploads, Durov said in a blogpost.

“The only way to let our most demanding fans get more while keeping our existing features free is to make those raised limits a paid option,” he said.

The app, along with messaging tool Signal, have seen an increase in users following privacy concerns with larger rival WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms. Telegram currently has 500 million monthly active users and is one of the 10 most downloaded apps in the world, according to its website.

Durov said the move to offer a paid subscription was to ensure that Telegram remains funded primarily by its users and not advertisers.

A recent report noted that users downloading the app are currently seeing the tagline—“Telegram will be free forever. No ads. No fees”. However, this could change shortly. In the latest update, code for an upcoming version of the Telegram app has been spotted online with a different tagline dropping the free slogan. The new strings indicate that the company is testing another way for the app to gain revenue.

Noted developer Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) on Twitter suggested that Telegram is changing the initial tagline of the app to launch its paid version soon. The new data strings shared by the developer include a new tagline “Telegram provides free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media.” The screenshot also suggests that there are plans to show ads. The Telegram Premium subscription is expected to unlock additional stickers as well.

Telegram May Change Free Tagline to Indicate Arrival of Premium Service, Suggests Codes

A Telegram Premium subscription plan could be on the way soon and the subscription is expected to give users the access to unlock premium stickers and exclusive reaction emojis. Users downloading the app are currently seeing the tagline—“Telegram will be free forever. No ads. No fees”. However, this could change shortly. In the latest update, code for an upcoming version of the Telegram app has been spotted online with a different tagline dropping the free slogan. The new data strings shared by the developer include a new tagline “Telegram provides free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media.” The screenshot also suggests that there are plans to show ads. The Telegram Premium subscription is expected to unlock additional stickers as well.

The new tagline is not active on the messaging app yet. It will probably only be activated once the premium subscription is officially announced.

Telegram recently rolled out its version 8.7.2 beta for iOS that included new reaction emojis and stickers. These new stickers and emojis are said to be premium features available only for Telegram Premium users. All users will reportedly receive a prompt asking them if they want to sign up for the Telegram Premium subscription plan when viewing these reactions or stickers on the instant messaging app. The company, however, has not shared much information about the pricing and the exact availability of the Telegram Premium service yet.

In April this year, the company had added several new features to the app including custom notification tones, setting custom durations for muting chats or auto-deleting messages, and improved forwarding that preserves replies. It also introduced an updated picture-in-picture mode for Android users, while message translation got improvements on iOS.

Telegram Premium Spotted on Latest iOS Beta, Offers Premium Stickers, Reaction Emojis

Telegram recently rolled out its version 8.7.2 beta for iOS, which included a new range of reaction emojis and stickers, as spotted by the Telegram beta channel. These new stickers and emojis are said to be premium features available only for the Telegram Premium users. All users will reportedly receive a prompt asking them if they want to sign up for the Telegram Premium subscription plan when viewing these reactions or stickers on the instant messaging app. It appears that Telegram is looking for new ways to monetise its platform by adding a premium plan that is said to offer special stickers and reactions as a start.

Telegram has not shared much information about the pricing and its exact availability, but as mentioned, the subscription will give users the access to unlock premium stickers and exclusive reaction emojis. This service has been spotted on the iOS beta app for the time being. There are no hints as to when and if the feature will be available on Android. As per the findings of the Telegram beta channel, the premium stickers won’t be visible to the free users in conversations on the platform. Instead, they will see a banner telling them to “unlock additional reactions by subscribing to Telegram Premium.”

In the meantime, we are expecting to hear more from the company about the latest subscription plan unlocking price and what other perks it offers because Telegram has not fully detailed the program yet, as mentioned already.

Moreover, Telegram recently launched a few more features in this year’s second spring update, including custom notification tones, setting custom durations for muting chats or auto-deleting messages, and improved forwarding that preserves replies. Through these features, all users can send and receive new animations as well as animated emojis. Another major feature is the capability for bots that will allow developers to offer website-like experiences through the instant messaging app.
