Video shows moment pro-Putin blogger is blown up

Shocking video shows the moment a prominent pro-Putin blogger was blown up in a packed St. Petersburg café — with his accused female assassin sitting just feet away.

Clips shared by Russian news site 112 show the suspect, Daria Trepova, initially trying to back out of the room after handing a box containing a small statuette to Maxim Fomim, a military propagandist better known as Vladlen Tatarsky.

“Nastya, Nastya, come sit here,” Tatarsky, 40, called out to Trepova, 26, using the pseudonym the assassin allegedly used to hide her identity as a Ukraine-linked anti-war activist.

Trepova — who is due in court Tuesday for her first hearing, accused of terrorism — is seen nervously turning back as the blogger urges her to sit right near him.

Tatarsky was shown admiring the statuette moments before it blew him up.

She compromises by agreeing to stay for the political discussion, but in a different chair several feet to the left of Tatarsky, who has been one of the most enthusiastic cheerleaders for Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Unaware of the horror about to unfold, the blogger is seen affectionately opening the box and admiring the bust he was handing, joking: “Oh, what a handsome guy! Is that me?”

The blogger was putting the bust back in the box when it exploded, killing him and injuring dozens of others.

One clip cut to the suspected assassin during the exchange — showing her holding her hands out and leaning back, before moving her hands over her face as the explosion ripped through the cafe.

Another angle showed that Tatarsky was carefully putting the bust back in the box while being asked a question when the explosion blew him up.

Trepova, who was seen in other footage carrying the box into the café, was also seen outside later as others were bent over in pain and covered in blood, at least one person stricken on the ground. Around 30 people were wounded in the blast.

Russian authorities described the bombing as an act of terrorism and blamed Ukrainian intelligence agencies for orchestrating the attack at the riverside cafe in the historic heart of Russia’s second-largest city.

The Interior Ministry later released a video in which Trepova confessed to bringing the bust to the café.

The National Anti-Terrorist Committee said the bombing was “planned by Ukrainian special services” and that Trepova is an “active supporter” of imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

“The involvement of the Kyiv regime in this bloody action will be another confirmation of its use of terrorist methods,” Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, according to state agency TASS.

Russia has labeled the bombing a terrorist attack.

The suspect previously spent 10 days in custody for taking part in an anti-war rally.

Her case was transferred to Moscow in a sign of how seriously it was being taken. She is due in Moscow’s Basmanny District Court on Tuesday and faces a life sentence for terrorist crimes.

The anti-war activist now faces life in prison.

Tatarsky previously joined separatists in eastern Ukraine after a Moscow-backed insurgency erupted there in 2014. He then turned to blogging, amassing more than 560,000 followers on Telegram.

He was an ardent supporter of President Vladimir Putin, who honored him with a posthumous Order of Courage, TASS said.

Russian tourist to be deported over naked selfie in Bali

A Russian traveler faces deportation from Indonesia after posing for a viral bottom-baring selfie on the sacred Mount Agung in Bali.

The image of the traveler, identified only as Yuri, with his pants down and his exposed posterior facing the camera has been making the rounds online since last week.

The uninhibited visitor later apologized for the stunt in a bid to quash the matter, but local authorities insisted that he leave Indonesia and be barred from reentering the country for at least six months, BBC News reported.

Mount Agung is an active volcano and the highest point on Bali. It is revered by Hindus as the home of their gods.

Besides mooning the sacred peak, Yuri also reportedly climbed Mount Agung along with six other tourists without permission.

“He violated norms and showed no respect for our culture,” Bali Law and Human Rights Office head Anggiat Napitupulu told The Jakarta Post.

After sharing his X-rated photo on Instagram, Yuri came under fire from commenters calling for his deportation.

In response to the firestorm, Yuri got together with Balinese community leaders for a “restorative justice” meeting and took part in a cleansing ceremony for the hallowed volcano.

In his videotaped mia culpa, the cowed tourist admitted to desecrating the mountain.

Yuri later released a video on Instagram apologizing for his actions, which he said were born out of ignorance.

“There is no excuse for my actions,” Yuri conceded. “The only thing that led to what happened was my personal ignorance. Ignorance of the particulars of the local religion and culture.”

Yuri said that after delving into the local customs, he learned that Mount Agung is a symbol of the deity Shiva, which, if angered, could destroy the island with a volcanic eruption.

The contrite visitor added that he is ready to pay for offerings to the gods and is eager to “fix the situation.”

The news outlet The Bali Sun reported that the Russian national will be permitted to stay in Indonesia for a short time to “play an active role in promoting good behavior by becoming a model tourist.”

The Balinese authorities have been actively cracking down on disrespectful behavior by foreign visitors by threatening them with deportation and jail.

Last year, Canadian actor Jeffrey Craigne was booted from Indonesia for posting a video of himself cavorting naked on Mount Batur — another sacred site on the island of Bali.

In 2021, a 22-year-old Russian porn star caused an uproar after filming herself having sex with her partner on the same sacrosanct peak.
