Motorola Executive Reveals Smartphone List for 2024; New Razr, X-Series Models in Pipeline

Qualcomm introduced its high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in October and the chip has already been used in several flagship Android phones released this year. In 2024, more phones are expected to use this chipset. While a wide range of brands have committed to adopting the new chip, Motorola is yet to reveal its plans regarding the release of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC-powered phone. Now, Chen Jin, General Manager of Lenovo Mobile Business Group, has hinted at its upcoming models for 2024.

Chen Jin, via a post on Weibo, has shared insights into Motorola’s roadmap for the upcoming year. The Lenovo-owned company’s product list for 2024 includes a new Razr model. The new generation Razr phone is confirmed to have a new design and AI integration. Motorola also plans to introduce large language model capabilities in its flagship X series smartphones in the coming year.

Other products planned for 2024 include the new Moto S series and Moto G series smartphones with several improvements. The post says Motorola will launch its full range of products next year. Chen Jin claims that the Moto Razr series made gratifying progress in China and even the global market in 2023. He said that the company was reorganising its product planning and rhythm in the face of the two major opportunities and challenges of folding screens and AI large models in the mobile phone industry.

Motorola released fewer models for China and other markets this year. The company introduced Moto G34 5G with Snapdragon 695 SoC earlier this month in China. The Motorola Edge 2023 with Dimensity 7030 SoC debuted in October. In the Indian market, Motorola Edge 40 Neo with the MediaTek Dimensity 7030 was launched in September.

From the Nothing Phone 2 to the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, several new smartphones are expected to make their debut in July. Moto X40 Alleged Design Tipped via China’s TENAA Website; Teased to Feature ‘Flagship’ Processor

Moto X40 has been teased by the company online, and is expected to make its debut as the successor to the Moto X30 that was launched in China last year. A Lenovo executive has hinted at the processor of an upcoming flagship handset, believed to be the Moto X40. The phone is teased to run on a new flagship platform, paired with LPDDR5X RAM. Meanwhile, a Motorola smartphone with model number XT2301-5 has appeared on China’s TENAA certification site. The listing is believed to be that of the Moto X40. The smartphone is shown to sport a curved screen with a centrally placed hole punch cutout, and a triple rear camera setup.

A Motorola smartphone with model number XT2301-5, which is said to be associated with the Moto X40, has surfaced on TENAA. The listing shows the phone through some of its early photos. The front of the phone suggests it will sport a hole-punch cutout on display, while the back view shows a triple rear camera setup. The listing was first spotted by Techgoing.

Meanwhile, Chen Jin, General Manager of Lenovo Mobile Business Group, teased the chipset of Moto X40 via a post on Weibo. The post says, “combination of the new flagship platform and LPDDR5X, the running score is really awesome” (translated from Chinese). This could be a reference to the yet-to-be-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

The Moto X40 is tipped to sport an OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. It is said to be offered in 8GB and 12GB RAM configurations. The rear camera setup of the Moto X40 is said to conclude two 50-megapixel sensors along with a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor. It is expected to carry a 60-megapixel selfie sensor as well. The battery is said to support 68W fast charging.

The Moto X40 could succeed the Moto Edge X30. The Moto Edge X30 was launched in China in December last year with a starting price tag of CNY 3,199 (roughly Rs. 38,000) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.
