Star Wars Visions Season Two Gets Its First Trailer Before May 4 Debut

Star Wars fans won’t have long to wait to see a second volume of the anthology series Star Wars: Visions, as a new block of animated short stories will debut on May 4. Arriving on Disney+ on Star Wars Day, the second season of Star Wars: Visions will feature nine new shorts from celebrated animation studios from across the globe.

At the Star Wars Celebration panel for Visions Season 2, executive producers James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, and Josh Rimes outlined their plans for the new collection of animated shorts. Visions season one celebrated Star Wars from “unique perspectives” according to the team, but for season two, the team wanted to go in a different direction. “We wanted to choose studios we thought would have a unique take on Star Wars,” Lopez said.

Some of the studios involved in Visions season two include Britain’s Aardman of Wallace and Gromit fame and South Korea’s Voltron: Legendary Defender’s Studio Mir. The Aardman project, I Am Your Mother, is being directed by Magdalena Osinka, while Lookism’s Hyeong Geun Park is directing Studio Mir’s short. The full list of global studios includes:

  • Cartoon Saloon — Screecher’s Reach
  • Punkrobot — In the Stars
  • Aardman — I Am Your Mother
  • Studio Mir — Journey to the Dark Head
  • Studio La Cachette — The Spy Dancer
  • 88 Pictures — The Bandits of Golak
  • D’art Shtajio and Lucasfilm Ltd. — The Pit
  • Triggerfish — Aau’s Song

In other Star Wars animated news, The Bad Batch has been renewed for a third and final season, and the live-action Ahsoka solo series is shaping up to be a spiritual successor to Star Wars Rebels as it features a lot of familiar faces from that series.
