Sporting Director claims Manchester United are scouting Otto Rosengren – Man United News And Transfer News

Mjällby AIF Sporting Director has claimed that Manchester United have been looking at central midfielder Otto Rosengren.

Rosengren, 19, has become an established first-team professional in the Swedish top flight, making 37 appearances for Mjällby in total across the last two seasons.

Mjällby are currently in third place in the Allsvenskan.

The young midfielder, who hails from Sölvesborg, has been called up to the Sweden Under-21 squad in light of his recent progress, scoring twice in three appearances.

Hans Larsson, Sporting Director of Mjällby, spoke with Tipsbladet, a Danish football magazine, about Rosengren and his future.

Claiming that United are one of the clubs who have been scouting Rosengren, Larsson said:

“There have been some Danish, English clubs and a Dutch club looking at him. Viborg, AGF (Aarhus Gymnastikforening) and Manchester United have been looking at him, among others.”

He was then asked to comment on the youngster’s immediate future, remaining coy on the subject of this summer’s transfer window:

“I don’t really know. We have to wait and see.

“It’s his first year as a real first-team player in Allsvenskan, and I’m not so sure that he wants to leave.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens.”

The inclusion of United in the discussion – if they are truly scouting Rosengren – could be a ploy to encourage other interested parties to accelerate negotiations and make a move in the market.

If the interest is genuine, then United may have to gather several million. Although Transfermarkt values Rosengren at €500,000, his contract expires in June 2025, while Larsson’s stirring and United-tax would inevitably raise the expected fee.
