Sir Jim Ratcliffe asks for Thomas Tuchel’s commitment as Man United contact him to potentially replace Erik ten Hag – Man United News And Transfer News

New Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly held initial discussions with Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel to potentially replace under-fire manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag’s position in the Old Trafford dugout is far from certain amidst United’s extremely poor season.

The Dutchman has repeatedly found himself on the end of intense criticism from supporters and the media for the club’s poor performances and dismal results that have often left a lot to be desired.

Ten Hag’s position was made significantly weaker after United’s disgraceful win on penalties against Coventry City in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils surrendered a commanding 3-0 lead with 20 minutes of regular time left on the clock as Coventry fought back to force the game into extra time. Luckily for United, they got through to advance to the final on penalties, despite Casemiro missing the opening strike.

However, the victory has raised even more questions about Ten Hag’s long-term suitability and it’s looking increasingly likely INEOS will sanction a managerial change once the season ends.

Already, United have been linked to top coaches such as Julian Nagelsmann, Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi, Thiago Motta, Gary O’Neil, Thomas Frank, Carlo Ancelotti and of course, Tuchel.

Tuchel is all but set to leave Bayern once the Bundesliga campaign elapses. The Bavarian outfit shockingly lost the title to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side, who ended the former’s 11-year grip on Germany’s top flight.

A report covered by The Peoples Person in late February indicated that Tuchel, who is also eyeing a new challenge away from the Allianz Arena, wants the United job. The Old Trafford hot seat is his dream and he would be very keen on replacing Ten Hag.

Kicker journalist Georg Holzner has given a huge update on the situation and has relayed that United have already established contact with Tuchel’s camp.

Holzner wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “It seems very unlikely that Thomas Tuchel will continue at Bayern Munich. The Bayern management still considers the decision [to sack him] to be the right one.”

“Tuchel, on the other hand, has already been contacted by Manchester United.”

Holzner added that Tuchel and Ratcliffe have already had exchanges between them.

“Owner Jim Ratcliffe, who highly values Tuchel has asked the current Bayern coach about a commitment for the coming season in the event that the club parts ways with Erik ten Hag at the end of the season.”

“Tuchel is currently only focusing on Bayern”

Bayern recently clinched a big victory as they dumped Arsenal out of the Champions League to advance to the semi-final of the continental competition, where they will face La Liga giants Real Madrid.
