After a period of time, Canada eventually overpowered Latvia with a final score of 101-75, securing a clean sweep of Group H at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

This victory represents the first occasion since 1986 that Canada has managed to win three consecutive games in the World Cup.

Despite a slow start in this particular match, Canada’s exceptional talent prevented them from encountering any major setbacks.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again took the spotlight with his outstanding performance. Gilgeous-Alexander showcased his determination to succeed, evident in his ability to swiftly take action when needed.

In addition to his impressive 27-point score, the Oklahoma City Thunder shooting guard also contributed 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals.

He is the first player to ever register at least 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in each of his first three games in the FIBA Basketball World Cup since the data was recorded in 1994.

“We started slow,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “We weren’t playing to our identity, not playing selfless. And then going into the second, we just started to do the little things, play for each other, get out on defense, box out, rebound, and make the extra pass. We played the right way, and the game slowly turned for us.”
