Sergej Milinkovic-Savic prefers Serie A stay as Manchester United propose loan deal – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United need to get their act together very soon or they risk missing out on Champions League football despite being in complete control of the situation even a few weeks back.

Two back-to-back defeats are derailing all their previously done hard work with Liverpool just a point behind now, albeit United have a game in hand.

But with the midfield struggling to retain possession and the team unable to last more than the first-half, it is imperative that Erik ten Hag improves the midfield in the summer.

United offer Lazio loan deal for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

A versatile midfielder would be the ideal recruitment as he can fill in for multiple players if and when required.

Calciomercato have once again linked the Reds with Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but the deal being proposed is not of interest to Le Aquile nor to the Serbian.

The 28-year-old, who’s contract ends in 2024 and is open to leaving Lazio, would prefer to stay in Serie A rather than move to the Premier League.

“Milinkovic-Savic would prefer to stay in Serie A rather than land in the Premier League where he has several admirers. Manchester United above all.

“The ‘Devil’ would offer an onerous loan with an obligation to buy conditional on qualifying for the Champions League in 2024,” the report stated.

With a contract renewal out of the question, Lazio president Claudio Lotito would prefer a straight sale and is holding out for €40million, down from the extremely high valuation of €70million.

AC Milan better positioned to strike

AC Milan are ready to swoop for the Serbia international but they are hoping for to secure Champions League qualification in order to thwart interest from Juventus and afford the deal.

Milinkovic-Savic has been long linked with a move to the Premier League and his versatility and goalscoring potential make him a standout performer in Italy.

The former Genk star has managed eight goals and the same number of assists in 43 appearances across all competitions and is ready to take the next step in his career.
