See How the Chicago Bulls Used an Amazing Game Boy Pokemon Tribute to Announce Their Schedule

The Chicago Bulls went all out in revealing its 2023-2024 schedule by doing so via an amazing custom Game Boy Pokemon tribute featuring some of the NBA’s biggest stars.

The video, which you can see below, stars Chicago Bulls mascot Benny the Bull and sees him riding a bike around a version of Chicago that looks in line visually with Pokemon Red/Blue’s Pallet Town. Chicago’s “gym” is the United Center, and Benny enters it and the reveals of the Bulls’ biggest upcoming opponents begin.

First up is San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg “Coach Pop” Popovich and Victor “Wemby” Wembanyama. Wembanyama, who was the first pick in this year’s draft, is so tall you only see him from the waist down. Benny quickly takes him down by using Popcorn Dump and it’s shown the Bulls will host the Spurs on December 21.

Next up, after Benny restores some of his health by eating popcorn, another character says, “We play in Cleveland on 1/15. In case you were planning a vacation…”

Benny then runs into the NBA Schedule Master, who battles with not only the Denver Nugget’s Nikola “The Joker” Jokic, but also LeBron “Bron” James of the Los Angeles Lakers. After a tough battle that saw Benny swap out for Zach “Flight 8” LaVine and DeMar “Deebo” DeRozan, it is unveiled that the Bulls will face the reigning champs on December 12 and the Lakers on December 20.

After winning, the NBA Schedule Master gives Benny the Bulls schedule and it is shown quickly on screen.

There are so many fun Easter Eggs to find in the video, from the moves of the players (like LeBron’s Chalk Toss) to championship trophies on the court and a goat that represents Michael Jordan as the greatest of all time.

There were other clever schedule reveals from other NBA teams, including a hilarious one from the Brooklyn Nets involving random people with little basketball knowledge trying to guess what team logos are.
