Saliba speaks out on future as Nelson continues resurgence

Arsenal loan watch: Saliba speaks out over future as Reiss Nelson’s resurgence continues

Two of the up-and-coming talents currently plying their trade out on loan away from Arsenal have taken centre stage in the headlines on Sunday night.

First up comes William Saliba.

Stopper Saliba is of course in the midst of a stellar campaign back in his home country of France, where the 21-year-old has long established himself as a key figure in the backline of Jorge Sampaoli’s Olympique Marseille.

In turn, amid high hopes for their on-loan defender back in north London, it came as little surprise when the subject of his future was put to Saliba once again this evening.

The 21-year-old’s ensuing comments, though, are unlikely to go down all too well with the Arsenal faithful.

Speaking ahead of Marseille’s Ligue 1 meeting with Lyon, in which they ultimately went on to slip to a 3-0 defeat, Saliba was keen to leave the door open to a return to the Stade Velodrome, reiterating that ‘it’s my club’:

Nelson shining

As allude to above, though, Saliba is not the only member of the Arsenal loan army to have turned heads across the day to date.

The other? Reiss Nelson.

Wide-man Nelson is currently plying his trade in the Netherlands, with giants Feyenoord.

And, after an altogether underwhelming opening to the campaign, recent weeks and months have seen the Hale End academy graduate begin to provide a timely reminder of the talents he remains in possession of.

Feyenoord made the trip to the south of the Netherlands earlier today, for an Eredivisie showdown with Fortuna Sittard.

The visitors ultimately emerged from the clash on the right side of a 3-1 scoreline, with that man Nelson having proven absolutely key as to why.

Afforded his latest start on the right flank, the Englishman racked up the assist for Feyenoord’s 2nd of the afternoon, before turning goalscorer shortly after the interval to round out a fine individual display.

All told, this means that Nelson has now directly contributed (goals & assists) to a head-turning eight goals in his last six appearances across all competitions.
