Reviewed: Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara

Mascara is the one makeup item I have the most difficulty with. Because my lashes are so straight, I’ve always found it hard to achieve that coveted “doe-eyed” look that other people with more cooperative lashes experience. They’re not too stubborn; my length is decent, but I wish they had a little more oomph! I’ve had lash extensions in the past, and am spoiled by the “effortless” glam they deliver with absolutely zero effort on my part. I didn’t have to wear eyeliner or anything else; I could wake up and feel done!

I’ll admit that mascara has always been a bit of an afterthought within my routine. Yet, whenever I skip it, my makeup feels like its missing something. It just feels wrong! However, in recent months, things have changed. I’ve remembered to apply mascara every single time I do my makeup, and it’s always the same one: Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara ($26). (If it looks and sounds familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen it all over your social media feeds.)

Before I actually tried the Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara, I’d hear about it—constantly. It was recommended by fellow beauty editors, friends, celebrities, and random beauty enthusiasts I’d meet and talk makeup shop with. Liquid Lash has gotten the TikTok virality treatment, and the brand apparently sells one every five seconds. It’s impressive, especially since it’s a direct-to-consumer product and not something you can pick up at Sephora or Ulta.

Usually, I’ll switch between a few mascaras, whether it’s a longtime favorite or something new I’m testing. But for the entirety of 2024, the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara is the only one that’s touched my lashes. Liquid Lash is a tubing mascara that uses the brand’s proprietary Flake-Free Tubing Technology™ to lengthen each lash from root to tip. It also contains Orchid Stem Cell Complex™ to keep lashes healthy, as well as shea butter and castor seed oil to nourish and condition each strand. (So yes, even when you’re not wearing this magical mascara, your natural lashes will look better, too.) As for the wand, it’s stiff with short bristles that gently grab the lashes and lengthen them up, up, and away!

One of my biggest pet peeves is clumpy, spider-like lashes. Liquid Lash lengthens my lashes without clumping or feeling heavy. (There’s nothing worse than a mascara that’s too wet or heavy, thus causing my straight lashes to droop.) I also appreciate how easy it is to remove the mascara at the end of the day; all you need is warm water, though I usually use a gentle micellar water, like Bioderma’s cult-favorite Sensibio H2O ($19), for my sensitive eyes.

I mostly use the black shade, but the brand offers a total of six color options, including really fun shades like pink, green, and purple.

Also, I lied! I have been using another mascara regularly, the Thrive Causmetics Liquid Lash Volumizer ($26)! This one gives you a fuller lash look, but it still doesn’t look or feel heavy. It contains Thrive’s Power Peptide Lash Booster™, sodium hyaluronate, and organic pea sprout extract to keep lashes visibly healthy and strong, and also help with hydration and density.

Three months is truly a record for me and my formerly lazy mascara-wearing ways! If you haven’t tried Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions or Liquid Lash Volumizer, this is, as they say, your sign to change that.
