For NFL teams in need of a wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. is the best option available. But, there are pros and cons in attempting to sign him.

The NFL is entering its eighth week of the 2022 season, and teams will likely begin making some changes once the games go final. Why is that? Well, the league’s trade deadline takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Teams looking to contend for a Super Bowl will make calls to improve their roster. For teams in need of wide receiver reinforcements, perhaps the best option is not on the trading block. Rather, this player is a free agent. That wide receiver is Odell Beckham Jr.

Bringing in Beckham for later in the season just ahead of the playoffs is seemingly the easy move. While there are pros, there are also cons to pursuing Beckham. Here are two pros and cons.

Pro: Odell Beckham Jr. is a proven difference maker

If last year was evidence enough, Beckham can be a true difference-maker for a team.

Following his mutual departure from the Cleveland Browns, Beckham explored his options after clearing waivers, and ultimately signed with the Los Angeles Rams. Since joining the Rams, his production surpassed what he put up with the Browns.

In eight regular-season games with the Rams, Beckham caught 27-of-48 targets for 305 yards and five touchdowns. Compare that to his 17 receptions for 232 yards and zero touchdowns in seven games with the Rams.

Beckham produced during Los Angeles’ run all the way to their Super Bowl victory. In their four games, he recorded 21 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns on 26 targets. Beckham caught two passes for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Last year, Beckham showed that he could be a huge addition to any team’s offense. Especially to a team that is a playoff and Super Bowl contender.
