This will be the first game of the 2023 preseason for both the Giants and the Lions. New York is coming off a 9-7-1 season in which they qualified for the playoffs and picked up a postseason victory for the first time since Super Bowl XLVI.
Detroit finished the 2022 regular season with a 9-8 record, including a victory over the Giants, but failed to qualify for the NFC Playoffs. They are, however, trending in the right direction and optimism is high.

There are no official injury reports released during the preseason but the Giants will be without running back Gary Brightwell (ankle) and offensive tackle Devery Hamilton (leg).
Advice and prediction
The Giants and Lions conducted two joint practices earlier this week and offense was the name of the game. Expect that trend to continue on Friday night regardless of who plays for each team, but note that Lions head coach Dan Campbell implied that none of his starters would play.
